We love 1918 and anything in that area of 1900. When we went to Fort Wilderness for the first time we stayed in 1600. Nice, but sites are close together and we stayed at a site that backed the main road and the bus stop so there was a lot of activity. Nothing bad, but sort of noisy and something that disturbed our sensitive protective dog.
One of the things we did with our rental cart was to explore and once we found 1918 that was it. It is private and far away from the action. Being that far away from the comfort station, bus stop, etc. is not a problem since before our next trip in Dec 2003, we bought and fixed up an old golf cart of our own, which we still have. In June 2004, I got a real bargain on Gem Electric car (a fancy golf cart I call it) so we can get anywhere we want in style. Its also a nice site no obstructions and easy to back into. On the east side (left as you are backed in) there is a large open space (where they could put in another site if they hauled in some fill) and on the other side, a space not quite as large, but filled with trees and bushes so you barely see your neighbor over there. Behind the site is a little trail where we can take the dog for a quick walk since he is so aggressive with other dogs.
