What's Your Favorite Cake?

I'm gaining weight just reading the recipes you ladies are putting up.

The all look scrumptious.

I love me some cake!

My hands down favorite is Italian Cream Cake which was a layer in my wedding cake. My other layer was strawberries and cream which is another favorite.

My mama makes such a good strawberry cake with fresh strawberry icing.
I make lemon cake with chocolate icing which is interesting.

Love strawberry lemonade cake in the summer. I bake it in the bundt pan and just put a light vanilla glaze on it.

I love coconut cake in the winter as well but has to be super moist with lots coconut.

My husband's favorite is my homemade carrot cake with cream cheese icing.

My favorite is yellow cake with chocolate frosting and I really enjoy a good napoleon with custard (no cream!!).

A good red velvet or just plain white cake with alot of icing/cream.

My favorite is a Coconut Cream Cake.

Cook a white cake mix according to directions. When you remove from oven stab it with a fork all over. Pour a can of Coco Lopez (or any brand Cream of Coconut). Let cool. Cover pan with foil and chill. To serve- cover with cool whip and shredded coconut. Keep leftovers in fridge

Delicious!

This is one of my favorites also. Better the next day after being chilled and the flavors have all melded together, lol.
I also love homemade Red Velvet cake.
I rarely eat either one tho...

Hey Tina..nice to see you posting again now and then. When I was little my favorite cake (always my birthday cake) was pink lemonade cake with pink lemonade frosting. My mom put those hard little silver ball thingys on it (the only thing that ruined it..lol)..but back then, it was a cake mix and frosting that was pink lemonade.
Can you share your recipe for the strawberry lemonade cake, pretty please?
TIA

Lynn

Hi Lynn!

I will dig around and find you a better one than I use. Honestly I'm kinda lazy sometimes I just mix strawberry cake batter and lemon cake batter together with swirls made from a knife.

Other times I have made a vanilla cake batter and added some strawberry lemonade concentrate instead of oil(I use applesauce anyways instead of oil).

I will dig around and find you a real receipe though as I feed a bunch of soldiers and I don't think they actually taste anything I cook before swallowing.

There is a great strawberry lemonade layer cake made with strawberry cake and lemon cool whip layers if that interests you on pinterest.

I had the most memorable, best cake of my life at my sister & BIL's house. They live north of Princeton, NJ and I guess they don't mind long drives because BIL drove up to Bridgeport, CT to a bakery called Del Prete Italian Pastry, for a cake he had called to order. It was called a Cannoli Cake, and it's much like it sounds - cake with layers of authentic, quality cannoli cream, plus so much more. The special cake was for their DD's graduation, and even tho it's been a few years, I still remember it! It was worth the special trip!

Raspberry Cake

1 pkg white cake mix (18 ¼ oz) 1 pkg raspberry gelatin (3 oz)
4 eggs ½ cup veg oil
1 pkg frozen sweetened raspberries ¼ cup hot water
(thawed and undrained) 10 oz

Frosting:
1 carton Cool Whip (12 oz) 1 pkg frozen sweetened raspberries
(thawed and undrained) 10oz

In a large bowl, combine dry cake mix & gelatin powder. Add raspberries with juice, eggs, oil and water. Beat until well blended. Pour into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 35-40 min or until done. Cool. For frosting, fold Cool Whip into raspberries. Spread over cake. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

I've also made it by substituting strawberry jello and strawberries.

Another good one is No Bake Banana Split Cake. You didn't ask, but here's the recipe for that one as well. ;)

No-Bake Banana Split Cake

Crust: 1 ½ sticks butter or margarine melted 3 cups graham cracker crumbs

Filling: 2 sticks butter/margarine(softened) 2 eggs
2 cups powdered sugar

Beat butter and eggs together in a BLENDER. Slowly add the powdered sugar. Beat for 20 minutes. Spread over crust. Drain one large can of crushed pineapple. Slice 5 bananas in 1/3rds lengthwise and in ½ . Dip banana pieces in pineapple juice to keep from turning brown. Spread pineapple over filling. Line bananas up on top of pineapple. Spread one large container of thawed Cool whip over bananas. Sprinkle with chopped cherries and nuts. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or over night. Before serving, drizzle with Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup.

This is our favorite Chocolate Chip Cake Recipe

1 box Duncan Hines Yellow Cake Mix
4 Eggs
1 Small Box Instant Vanilla Pudding
1/2 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Oil
8 oz Sour Cream
1 Bag of Mini Chocolate Chips

Pre-heat oven to 350
Mix first 6 ingredients together in a large bowl.
Batter will be very thick.
Fold-in chocolate chips.
Pour batter into a greased 9x13 pan.
Bake at 350 for 40 minutes

I've made the strawberry version many times before with strawberry cream cheese frosting, but now I have to try with raspberries.

I LOVE anything lemon.

I think that I may modify my raspberry cake recipe by using lemon cake mix and lemon jello and using frozen strawberries.

The other day I saw Cool Whip frosting in the freezer section at Meijer but I haven't tried it yet. I just use regular Cool Whip and add the thawed fruit to it

My favorite, if made by a professional bakery, is Italian Rum cake. Otherwise, my other favorite is carrot cake.

I love cake. I have yet to turn away from any kind. Whole foods has a chantilly cake that is awesome! It has fresh berries in the filling! Yum!:cool1:

I like good ole white cake with fudge icing all out of a box and can.

Carrot cake is my favorite, but I'll eat ANY cake.

I love wedding cakes, and I can really make a pig of myself if I have access to a cake from a bakery.

The only cake I don't like is Red Velvet. I love cake. My absolute favorite is coconut cake.

I love just about any good, moist cake (so long as it does not have nuts).

Some of my favourites:

Tres Leches Cake (with whipped cream and diced maraschino cherries)

Mexican chocolate cake (best warm from the oven with some butter cream or whipped cream on the side)

Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting

Lemon cake with butter cream

yellow cake with chocolate fudge frosting

pineapple upsidedown cake

milkyway cake

pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese frosting

apple caramel cake

Okay, I'm hungry now. We made Mexican chocolate cake yesterday, I think I need a slice now :lmao:

The milky way cake?

Basically, make your favourite yellow cake batter (you could use a boxed mix). Take about a half cup of the batter out, mix it with a tablespoon of flour and 1 melted Milky Way (for the Europeans, that is a Mars Bar).

Fill a bundt pan half way with the batter, use the melted Milky Way as a ribbon in the middle and then fill the rest of the way with remaining batter and bake.

"Glaze" the cake with 2 other melted milky way bars.
