What's your favorite breed of dog?

I guess I don't have a favorite one breed. When we were researching shelters and rescues I decided I like the blend of different breeds. Sometimes I would check out websites about certain breeds and one thing or another I would like or dislike about that certain breed. So for myself I will always adopt an older dog from a rescue/shelter. We adopted a Brittany mix in Nov. 06! He has his fears of loud noises(motorcycles, large trucks) but has no fear of people. HE LOVES PEOPLE. He is so loving and quiet(except spring time w/squirrels). But when I visit a shelter I would look for these breed mixes as my favorites
Brittany( I have be loyal and they are people lovers)
Yellow Labs/Sheperds/Collies/Border Collies

I am not really fond of small dogs but there is a female Puggle in our obedience class and she is a total sweet heart

We have shared our home with the following dogs over the years:

1. collie - he was very tempermental
2. german shepherd - he was very protective but had alot of "attitude"
3. boxer - she is gentle and loving.

My all time favorite is an Irish Wolfhound.

This probably sounds odd, but I love Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.

They can be a little hardheaded, but they are so loyal. They aren't overactive, but they love to play.

Yep, the leggy and the legless.

I am on my second Greyhound (AWESOME), second Irish Wolfhound (DORKYand the most hopeful loving dogs I have ever known) and my second Pembroke corgi (SMART and BUSY!!!).

I have also had several mixed breeds over the years, but always adopted those as adults so I knew what I was getting!!!

No contest - a Doberman. They have a bad reputation, but ours was the most affectionate and intelligent dog we've ever had. He was very demanding though - he wanted constant attention and had to be with one of us all the time. I couldn't go from one room to the next without him right at my heels. I'd like to get another one but not until the kids move out so we can devote the proper amount of time to the dog.

I love German Shepherds. I've had six of them since childhood and could never be without one.

That's funny that a male was tempermental. My female is the "bratty" one and my males are easy-going. Other collie owners have told me they also noticed the females were brattier than the males.

I have the sweetest, funniest, smartest Boxer on earth. Mieke. :lovestruc
I have owned:
Chow/Shar-Pei mix - very laid back, LOTS of hair
Dachshund - Barky McBarkster
Lab - Very well behaved dog
Weimeraner - Needed lots and lots of exercise, but a gorgeous dog

Boxer wins.

I love dogs and puppies, but my beagle now lives with my parents :( Copper is definately not suited to sub zero tempratures brrrrr. I tend to like scent hounds-beagels, harriers, foxhounds, bloodhounds, etc. I also like Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and several other breeds that I can't hink of at the moment.

My family has owned lab mixes, a mutt, and an Aussie.

I have a beagle named Copper too. We have the cutest sweater with a scarf that he wears when he goes out in the winter. My husband is convinced that the neighbor dogs and our other two big dogs laugh at him when he has it on. And he always runs around with the end of the scarf in his mouth. Gotta say though that there is nothing cuter than a beagle in my opinion.

We have a Jack Russell right now and while I love him to pieces, I wouldn't put a JRT at the top of my favorite breed list.

I think I would pick either a Doberman or a German Shepard, had one of each and they were both wonderful dogs.

I've also owned many mutts, a chocolate lab, springer spaniels, an afghan, and a chihuahua mix.

Labs
Welsh Corgies (definate personalities!)
Burmese Mountain
Rhodesian Ridgeback (unusual personalities!)

I totally agree with this. My 2 female collies I have now are very easy going.

But my first one. Natasha, there will never be another like her. She was very bratty and tempermental. Her and DH used to wrestle all the time. She would get so ticked at him , sometimes she'd draw blood on him. Believe me, he deserved it.

Plus if any other dog looked at her crosseyed, or me, she'd put them down. Believe it or not, she was the dominant one over my moms Doberman. The other collie I had with her at the time was a 180, very Lassie-like, just like the ones I have now.

after a number of cats, we now have our first dog.
My DH has wanted one for a long time. I told him that when I found the right breed, he could get one.
I found a British Labrador, and he got one.

They are smaller and much more calm than regular Labs. One of the explanations I found said that regular Labs are kind of exuberant puppies until they are about 2 yrs old and British Labs at birth are much more like American adult Labs.

German shorthair Pointers we have 2 Bailey is 12 1/2 & Dexter we just rescued this summer he is 1 1/2. Bailey is now deaf so he barks alot. Dexter has not barked once since we got him. They are just big playful babies. They have alot of energy.

As you can see I love my Jack Russell Zoey. She is a handful but so sweet and very loyal.
