What's your favorite breed of dog?

Bolded are my current dogs. Will NEVER own an Aussie again, even though he is pretty much a good dog.

May I ask why you don't like Aussies? I know they are high-strung, and maybe that's the answer.

We've always owned mixed breeds, so a good old-fashioned mutt is my choice. : ) But I like to look for a herding mix, such as part Border Collie or part Australian Shepherd. I like herding mixes because they are intelligent, a nice size, and are good family dogs. We have an Aussie-mix now.

Harry was my English Bulldog and by far the best dog I had the pleasure of living with. We had him for 13 years. Blessed to have him that long. He was such a couch potato. Loved him

We currently have a Lab and a French bulldog. They both have things about them that I love- The frenchie is high maintenance though.:rotfl2: And the Lab would save my life in any situation. The most loyal dog you could want.

I would take each of them again.
But out of them all I am sticking with the English as my all time favorite(there may be another in my future I think)

German Shepards

I have had 1 GS/ husky mix, she was a great dog, now I have a white/tan German Shepard, she is wonderful. She is also the only pure breed dog I have had.

Huskies:
As mentioned I had a GS/husky mix. I now have a husky/ rot mix, he is really furry like a husky with a big husky tail and rotty markings. And if dog can be concieted, he is because he thinks everyone should pet him.

Saint Bernards:Never had one, but exdh has had 2 and I actually have him bring over his current pup she is over 100 lbs to play with my pups and she usually stays for about a week. They are so gentle and have such incredible tempermants.

Another dog I had was a cocker spainel mix, she was a great dog, but I am prone to the big dogs.

We've had:

Akita (sweetest dog ever) She was beautiful and well mannered. Everyone loved her. She did shed A LOT though.

Soft coated Wheaten Terrier- Finnegan is 43 pounds and the perfect size. He is small enough to lay on the couch with us, but big enough to play with without hurting him. He doesn't shed at all and doesn't have a doggie smell. We camp alot and he is a good traveler. He is a very anxious dog with lots of anxiety around new people, places, loud noises. We are working with a trainer to help him with this.

Miniature Schnauzer- She is an adorable puppy. We wanted another non shedding dog, but one that would be smaller than Finn. She should be about 15 lbs. They are sturdy dogs...not cutesy lap dogs.

Growing up we had german shepherds, rottweilers, great danes, boxers, dachunds, and a bunch of mutts. My mom used to love dogs and we usually had more than one at any given time.

If I had to pick one of the breeds I am familiar with as my favorite...I would say the Akita. She was just the best !! :lovestruc

I love pugs! They're great dogs for families with children, IME/IMO. Our vet is also one that sees more pugs than any other breed in his practice and he loves them all. He said in all the years he's cared for them he's never met a mean one.

:thumbsup2
We have a pug and she's awesome! We don't have kids, but she is great with our kitties. She does shed like a buffalo, though. But she's worth it!

Dachshunds are my favorite breed. We've always had them. Now, between my dad and us, we have 5. The second favorite breed would be beagle. I guess any hound would be a favorite.

I tend to like the larger breeds, and usually mutts :) We currently have a Newfie cross who is just awesome. We've also had a lab/shepard, and a husky/border collie. I loved all of them, and they were all really good family dogs.

I'm not sure I could live with the smaller breeds, but I don't know. They're fun to play with, but I"m always kind of relieved when they go home. I'm used to the big, unenergetic lumps. Mine could be mistaken for a rug somedays ;)

My favorite breeds are:
Westie
Jack Russell
Welsh Corgi
Akita

While I love dogs I've never owned any.

All the dogs I listed were big dogs....but I did have a roommate who had a Boston Terrier that I liked.

I love all breeds of dogs. I do have a special place in my hear, though, for Huskies. My first dog was a Husky/Alaskan Malamute mix. She was my uncle's dog and I had been begging my parents for a dog since I could talk. My parents decided to take her and she was the most amazing dog ever.

I have had:
Husky/Alaskan Malamute
Golden Retriever/Lab (my current dog)
Mutt (She was my grandma's dog, but they got her a couple months before I was born, so we grew up together and she was as much my dog as anybody's. My grandma says she was a lab/Irish Setter mix, but I didn't see it. She died 2 years ago next Sunday.)

Absolutely 100% Australian Shepherds:thumbsup2 DH and I've bred and raised them for 25 years. they are the smartest, cleanest, most lovable dogs I've ever been around. To us, there is no other breed:worship: Each and every one truly becomes a member of the family they go to:goodvibes

UNBELIEVEABLE shedding. Big barker. A few other reasons. we knew about all of them but didn't think it would be as extreme as it has turned out. He's a good dog, but not the breed for us. Never does anything wrong.

Golden Retrievers, then black labs. We have one golden now, and a rescue hound/rottie mix. We love the hound dearly, but she isn't our 'fav' breed. We have had a long run of goldens and labs and never went wrong on those- just wish they lived a bit longer than 10-12 years, as it is SO sad to lose your beloved companion.

I'm fortunate that I now have two of my favorite breed--only had to beg DH for years. That would be the Chinese crested. Did lots of research and they have not disappointed at all.

Prior breeds I have shared my home with were dalmation, Australian shepherd, cocker spaniel, dachshund and a schnauzer. After some of these, I love having dogs that do not shed, are not hyper, do not bark, have no medical issues, etc.

They are just as spoiled though. :flower3:

right now i have 4 dogs, a pitbull, 2 american bulldogs, and a black lab border collie mix who is 17 years old. I must say that I am glad for my pitbull and american bulldog, both of who are 2 years old...they have stopped a few people from breaking into my house while myself and my 3 children were sitting in the living room watching TV. They are great dogs, very family oriented and very loyal dogs! The only problem we have is with our pitbull jumping the fence, but he is harmless. if i knew how to post pictures i would.

I love our miniature schnauzers! No hair (don't shed I mean) and tons of personality - we are particularly partial to the white ones! I have two!

Jenny:)
