I was on Splash mountain on wednesday and the enitire ride is covered in gum! Has anyone else noticed this or was it maybe just a fluke? I was surprised that Disney hadn't done anything about it. I know that they have surveillence cameras throughout the ride, you think they would have noticed all these people sticking there gum on the ride. You could tell that they had removed some of it, but there were at least 100 pieces that I saw. By the end of the ride I wasn't even paying attention to the animatronics, I was looking at all the gum. It was disgusting.

Yes I have noticed the bright colored gum stuck all over certain parts of the ride too! It's discusting. I don't know why. but i too followed the gum like a trail through the ride - Gross!

we just returned on Sunday so we were looking at the same gum!

That's a shame. Maybe they need one of those "gum targets" like they have in the NY subway. There really was a time when you didn't see that kind of thing in WDW.:(

I've never noticed gum throughout the ride, but I have as you wait in line. It always annoys me. People are such pigs. I totally agree with the no gum policy. Maybe if some people complain WDW will clean it up? It would be nice since the rest of the resort is so well taken care of.

Saw the gum too - thought it was awfully stupid of people to do that. Just wondering (do not flame me) if it is part of the fallout from grad nights?

thanks

hey, Gonga..
Glad to hear that you are as disgusted with inanimate objects as you are with animate objects. Was any of that gum big, fat hairy and have a mole????

cantw8 - Hey were you the one that needed a forklift to get out of the ride?

Gonga...
Thanks for living up to your reputation......you did not dissapoint.
Oh, to be as perfect as you.

What is UP with you folks?????

Gonga can't post about anything now?

Hey.. what is going on here.... whatever it is.... let's get back to the subject which was gum on Splash Mountain...we will not tolerate any personal insults on the Dis, unless this is just friendly banter and if so, please enlighten the rest of us....so we can share in the fun.. if not, please stop.... I will be watching this thread...

I apoligize for my negative comments on this thread. My comments were not meant for this post but were directed at an individual....that was very immature of me. I was cruising through the sites and saw this poster and could not control myself. Once again, I humbly apoligize. However, in my defense, as a psychologist, I have spent many long hours trying to help individuals deal with the pain and hurt they experience through negative comments such as those expressed by certain individuals in one of these posts named "Not as Clean as You Think." While my comments on this post should not have been made as it was not appropriate and not the correct forum, I still feel strongly about the subject and thought that interested parties should be informed.

It amazes me how irrationally oversensitive people are. Hey, guys, It is a message board. Lighten up. Gonga didn't do anything to anyone, and paople are acting like he/she just kicked your dog, slapped your kid, and pinched your wife. (and I'm sure some of your dogs could use a good kicking) Lighten up...geez. Usually, when people get so crazy about stupid stuff, they are sensitive because it hits awfully close to home....... Why would anyone care so much about what an anonymous poster said about not wanting to pick up body hair from another person....stop projecting your own insecurities.....or shave your back!

xoxoxoxo,

Dan:tongue:

This is the first time in about two years of hitting these boards that I have laughed out loud. Thanks for the pick-me-up!!:p

ok, how did this go from SM gum to body hair?? I am lost. I think its time to move on to my dream come true forum, cruising! Here I go...

Gonga, you are right, the gum is disgusting and gross

Thanks Mackey Mouse for pulling this back in line - we do not need a flame dis member(s) board

Thanks

Whoa, that got a little crazy for a second there!

Anyway, I thought that maybe it had to do with Grad night too. When I used to be a CM we were always amazed at the things that grad would think up. (I don't mean amazed in a good way either.) I guess my real disappointment lies with Disney for not cleaning it up and taking a proactive step to preventing it. I would have some extra CM's lurking about in the ride and when these people are caught sticking gum on the ride, making a big deal about it. They wouldn't have to go as far as kicking them out, but I think being busted and called out on it would be plenty embarassing.

I am really surprised at this thread (about the gum). We have always been really impressed with the cleanliness of not only the parks but Orlando in general. I don't remember seeing any gum on pavements let alone stuck on rides before.

You guys should come have a look at our pavements - gum everywhere!

I am really surprised to see this. We have gone to Carowinds and Six Flags before and see lots of gum. We always say,"You sure wouldn't see that at Disney." I hope they clean it up before our trip. If they don't, I'll be like the OP and I won't be able to watch the ride for looking at the gum.

the back hair reference was to an earlier post from gonga that was cut off because people got all freaked out over nothing.
