Ok, just got back and this was discussed a while back about Casey's hot dog buns. I went to Pecos Bills(however you spell that) and the place across the street from it to get one of those awesome Chicken sandwiches my wife loves them and I watched her eat one last trip and wanted one this time. Me my wife and another couple we were with bought the chicken sandwich meals and the family that was with them went and got burgers at Pecos Bill's. They have changed the buns on all the sandwiches to wheat buns that not only taste horrible, they disintegrate as you try to eat your sandwich. Who was the Brain trust that thought this was a great idea. I asked around and got the answer " it is to make the food more healthy". I understood that it was no the cast members fault or doing, so I refrained from asking how a wheat bun makes a fried chicken sandwich or a greasy hamburger topped with cheese a healthy choice. The only thing I can think of it that if the bun falls apart before you can eat the sandwich you may not be able to eat it and save all those calories.:). I used to love having a hot dog at Casey's and had to stop due to the same problem I guess I will have to write off the other two places I just mentioned as well. I love the dining At Dsney and they have some really great food so it is a shame that they have to mess things up. If it works,Don't fix it people. Ok, I will get off my soapbox and apologize if this has been discussed in a different thread.

HUGE issues with this as well!

You CAN have wheat buns that dont fall apart!

at least give us the choice Disney - I also dont go to Casey's because when I want a hot dog, I want the bun to be so soft it melds around my hot dog!! I mean Sam's Club can serve a decent bun - get with it DISNEY!!

( I still think a mass email, writing campaign would have to help plead the case!)

They're terrible, aren't they?
I think they were actually worse in February than they were in September. I won't order a hamburger at Disney because of this!

Earlier this year my DD10 and I had hamburgers at TL in Disneyland and the buns were just awful! As PP stated, they simply feel apart. Made me miss McD's I won't get a burger at DLR unless they change them back. I should have returned the burger and gotten my money back.

I guess they are healthier for you since it's hard to eat the whole bun when it falls apart in your hands.:rotfl2:

What was Disney thinking when they made the change? Didn't anyone test them before buying them.

If everyone who ordered one and hated it, returned it to get their money back, that would send a huge message, more than an email campaign-MONEY TALKS!

I cant stand them either :headache: I keep hoping that enough people will complain and they will go back to the good stuff.

Yep, the buns are disgusting! What is the point of the awesome toppings bar if you can put anything on the burgers without them completely falling apart? You can absolutely forget about picking up a chili dog, not gonna happen!

Healthy schmelthy! It is possible to have a decent wheat bun Disney!

Down with the fall apart buns!!!!!!!!!!!

I was in DW from the 3rd to the 9th and went to the MNSSHP and I was really hungry before the fireworks so I went to Casey's and I asked if they still used the wheat buns and all the CMs frowned and shook their head yes and the manager said "unfortunately yes, we still have those horrible buns" Told him I wish they went back to the old style and he said " I really wish they would too, I have to try to sell these things to people and they are disgusting" I agreed and sympathized with him and ordered the corn dog nuggets. They were wonderful , dip them in the hot cheese sauce, Forgetaboutit. The corn dog nuggets are the bomb now.:thumbsup2

I agree. The Disney "healthy" buns are a disaster. After experimenting twice with burgers that completely fell apart 20 seconds into eating them, I gave up eating anything on a bun at WDW. My kids got upset and frustrated trying to eat hot dogs. Sara Lee makes decent White Whole Wheat buns that hold up well and if Disney is actually serious about the healthy part of it, Natural Ovens has outstanding real whole grain buns.

Are the nuggets "all beef" or are they part chicken like the new hotdogs?

:lmao: Oh goodness, thank you for that much-needed laugh! I've been so irrationally angry about the bun situation, it's ridiculous. And I LOVE wheat buns/bread! But not one wheat bread product I buy falls apart like WDW's. Its' not a choice to make guests "healthier;" it's a choice to spend less and make more.

This is ridiculous, something else to thank the nanny state for.

I've been complaining about this every since they changed the Italian sandwich in Pinocchio's a long while back.
Who serves Italian cold cuts on wheat bread or burgers or hot dogs.

It's like going to Philly for a cheese stake and getting it without the cheese (on a wheat bun!!).
What's the point?

The good thing is there are a handful of places with decent bread, like starring roles.

At least give people the choice, the 10-20% that want wheat buns can have them.

Most people go to Disney once a year, some once in a lifetime, so at least let them enjoy it.
Don't punish the rest of us who watch what we eat the rest of the year.

Like most people, I try to make the best choices in my everyday life when choosing what to eat. There is always a fine balance of finding healthy foods that taste good. I do my best everyday to nourish my body. I get why Disney feels the need to improve the healthfulness of their food offerings. They think that's what we want. BUT, when I am on vacation I do like to enjoy my foods more than in my everyday life. I mean, at home I am perfectly content eating a dinner of grilled chicken or fish with brown rice and lots of veggies. But at Disney, I would never choose that meal! I get there one week a year on average, so I like to enjoy myself. Will it really matter to my overall health if my sandwich bun is made from whole grains, enriched white flour, or some other unknown substance, and I only eat that bun 2 times per year? No! On vacation, my primary want is for it to TASTE GOOD. There is no secondary want. Taste is it. I hope they fix this, whether they go with a better whole grain bun, back to white buns, or whatever. Just fix it!

The buns have been around for a while, my first experience with them was in October of 2008 at the hamburger place in Dinoland USA. Then in December of 2008 I noticed they had changed the hot dog buns.

Let's start a campaign for people to smuggle real buns into the parks:

I BRING MY BUNS TO DISNEY WORLD...ok maybe this needs a little work before the t-shirts get printed.;)

I have no problem with whole wheat, although I would like a choice, but there's no reason for them to fall apart like this!

Honestly, the new buns don't bother me at all.But I guess since I have not eaten white bread in like 7 yrs, it probably wouldn't. I am used to the dry multigrain or wheat, and I actually like them.:confused3 Different strokes for different folks I guess

I agree.:thumbsup2

We were on the DCL in Oct and they had changed the buns and pizza crust. They were really bad. :scared1:

I hope Disney see this tread and changes thing. Why can't we have a choice between wheat bun or white bun. What about a great tasting heathy bun!

We've had Casey's dogs, and various hamburgers in WDW this past June, and have never had a bun fall apart. I'm not sure what all this is about. Ours were fine. :confused3
