What's up with the 60 second rule?

I post a long post then a quick post and get a message - only one post per 60 seconds allowed. So now I have to watch the clock to not post too often?

How are Dan Murphy and Cathy Canada going to keep their post counts up when they can only post once per minute?

I know how you feel. It drives me crazy too!

I never had a problem until I got a cable modem and now since I can type pretty fast I seem to get it quite a lot.

Maybe it could be changed to a 30 second interval?

I get that message a lot too...then I get impatient and click on the submit reply button too many times and end up double posting!

I hate that message... it's been there for quite some time (I think since the "trolls" came in over the summer). I think I've gotten used to it and just learned to keep refreshing the page until the post goes through. I'd love to have the same rule of 15 seconds between PMs as they do for posts though :teeth:

Aggravating, isn't it? CC can post as often as she wants...she's a webmaster ;)

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how I manage to double, and embarassingly enough, triple post so often when there is a 60 second rule.:D

That is an excellent question! I never thought of that

Lars, that's because if you hit "submit reply" while the database is still churning and posting your first reply, the first one hasn't registered yet, hence you can post again. :) It eventually DOES register both replies (or more, if you hit "submit reply" multiple times).

Flood control (another name for the 60-second rule) is a necessary evil, unfortunately, to prevent attacks on the boards such has those that have happened in the past.

I can live with getting that message if we can have the black dot back. ;) :)

Thanks Michelle!!
I'm pretty computer cluelessobviously and that has been puzzling me for a while now:D
I appreciate the answer!
