then I guess my ex husband was drunk wehn he rear-ended my parents' car...when he went into a spin and took out a guardrail on the parkway...when he rear-ended that pickup truck...when he ran over that shrub and knocked down the stop sign...

nope, he wasn't drunk. he was stupid.

and I believe that Billy Joel was stupid, too. the police do their job around here.

I have to add, I don't blame Christy Brinkley one bit for forbidding "their" DD to ride with him...he's reckless, pure and simple.

interestingly, the police officers who arrested Diana ross for DWI in Arizona made the rounds of morning talk shows -- I saw them on the Today Show. police officers ike recognition for doing their job the same as anyone else.

Joel's been in rehab, that's true. but does he have a record of arrests for driving drunk?

If he wasn't arrested for any of those accidents, when it's public knowledge that he was drunk, then OBVIOUSLY somebody isn't doing their job. It has nothing to do with it being Long Island, I believe the only people who really care about Long Island are the people who live there.

Well if "my" EX(if I had one) had this many accidents, my little ones would not be in a car with him.

sometimes it's not that easy, Scarlett. you don't want your kids in the car with the lunatic driver, but the court says he's their father and he's entitled to visitation, and since his licence has never been suspended or revoked, you don't have much choice but to "allow" him to take the girls in his car.

and when your daughter calls you crying hysterically because daddy ran over a bush and hit a stop sign and destroyed his car, you say "thank G-d no one was hurt" and you run to whereever it was that daddy had the accident and collect your little ones.

BTW SB, good job turning this thread into an ex bash, I didn't think it could be done for every thread, but apparently I was wrong. Let's try another subject. I'll say 'lemonade' and you tell me what your ex did to ruin lemonade for you.

I may not know police lingo, but if I wrapped my car around a tree or if I drove into someone's house, i'd expect a ticket for reckless driving.

Does someone have to be killed or hurt for someone to realize that this person shouldn't be on the road? I'm not even calling him a drunk, just a bad driver. I just don't get why people think he's God and just let him continue driving when he obviously has no clue how to drive safely.

I'm glad Christie Brinkley doesn't let her daughter in the car with him anymore. I sure wouldn't if it were my child.

I agree, because he can sing doesn't make him special. Happily, we won't have to worry about his daughter, because at least her Mother has a brain her head.

I'm not worried about it, I just think it's funny how people automatically ASSume he didn't do anything wrong, when it's been proven that he's a drunk driver in the past. Now why are YOU so concerned with what I think, don't you have things to worry about yourself?

Most accidents happen close to home. It's a known fact that when it starts raining, the oil from the road rises up and makes roads VERY slippery. It was a sharp turn, one where other accidents have previously taken place.

Yes, he was a known alcoholic, but could it be that Billy was driving a bit too fast and lost control of the car in the rain? If it was a bright sunny day on a normal stretch of road, I'd be more likely to side with the Billy is an Alcoholic camp, but looking at the facts it seems more to me that he got into an accident like any one of us could have. This time it just so happens that because he's done stupid things in the past everyone assumes that he was drinking.

Suffolk Cops aren't gonna let the guy off if he was drinking, even if he is famous. They're quite strict about that.

I don't know about Joel's accident- I'll leave it up to the authorities but I wanted to say that sometimes the better you know the road, the faster you might drive- even if you know about a bad curve. There's a false sense of security that comes with familiarity sometimes.

A friends Ex has a history of Drunk driving. Even wiht his record there was nothing she could do to keep her DS out of a car with him. She told to call only if she saw him behind the wheel and smelled alcohol on his breath. She could not "legally" stop him him from getting their son when his wife called my friend and said he was drunk. We ended up hinding her son and she pretended she forgot it was his weekend.

As for BJ.... I don't care if is was drunk or is jsut a careless driver. He should not be driving after as many high speed wrecks as he has had.
