What's Up Today?

Tenting at the Fort Sue? I love the fort, but dont think I could tent camp, sorry! My idea of roughing it is a hotel without room service! When you get a hankering for a good meal grab a ride to the golf course next door for some good vittals!

Thanks for the tip -- I will check it out! :thumbsup2

Dead headed all of my Crepe Myrtles, trimmed back all of my Hibiscus, edged and mowed the lawn, and even squeezed in a trip to Home Depot.

Drinking water right now, but I can guarantee you its gonna get a lot stronger than that before the night is over!

Eating left over Kielbasa and Piergories for lunch.

Have to go do Cici's pizza for dinner. :sad2: For those of you not familiar, its $3.99 all you can eat pizza and salad. Do the math on how good the quality is on that one! But my it's my niece's first job, so we have to pay a visit!

Next trip to Disney. . . .trying to block that one out! :rotfl2:

DRINKING: A nice little Chardonnay, Yellow Tail - love those Australian wines!

EATING: I roasted my own peppers, and then threw them together with a nice mozzarella, campari tomatoes, evoo, and an aged balsamic. Will enjoy this together with a homemade tuna hoagie!

WATCHING: Yikes, the "Insider." How embarrassing! Does it help preserve my butch points - :lmao: - if I mention that we'll be switching to the 7th game of the National League Playoffs at 8 PM?

NEXT DISNEY VACATION: YC Concierge, here we come!

DRINKING: Diet Coke, and lots of it!

EATING: Ham steak, mac & cheese, green beans...'comfort' food.

WATCHING: The Horn Blows at Midnight on TCM; gonna watch the vampire movies later.

:bounce:

Well, let's see:

I am just now having a lemon martini with Ketel One Vodka, mixed by my favorite mixmaster: DP. She generally doesn't indulge during the week, but if I ask she'll mix me something special.

With dinner brewing - BarBQ Chicken to be served on Amarrosa rolls, homemade potato salad, and roasted tomatoes - I've got the news on, waiting for new favorite evening news host - Katie Couric.

Finally, I've got a YC trip right on my heels - it's just a hop in/hop out trip, but it gives the kids their annual taste of WDW, something they were deprived of since we very bad parents took our 20th Anniversary trip sans the wee ones (who are 17 and 18 years of age and both of whom tower over both of us)

So, what's up with you all? :listen:

I was at work, so I put on Katie, usually watch Charlie at home, but didn't the Michael J Fox segment get you thinking?

GET OUT AND VOTE! REMIND YOUR FRIENDS!

Do we need a new thread on this?

A reminder to get out and vote would be an excellent topic as October winds down and we move towards Election Day. :thumbsup2

Boy! Oh Boy! -- I made the tastiest ( and easiest :thumbsup2 ) ribs for dinner yesterday in the slow cooker -- sliced up two onions real thin, smashed a tad under 4# of pork ribs in on top of those, chunked up and threw in some left-over candied ginger, dumped in 2 bottles of grocery store brand hickory smoke BBQ sauce, and topped off the whole mess with a serious shot of vietnamese red pepper sauce (Tuong Ot Sriracha -- or as we say here in Hicksville: "Rooster Juice"). Cooked it all day on low. Served it on sweet cornbread (made from a Martha White quickie mix with a can of creamed corn in place of the milk) and a tossed salad. It was seriously TASTY!!!!! :thumbsup2 The only thing that I would do differently in the future is that I'd go for boneless meat as it was falling off the bone tender. Um! Um! Um! and also beaucoup EASY!!!!!

I'm drinking warmish green tea this am and we are looking at a cook-out this afternoon with my mom, and my son and daughter-in-laws family. Big task of the day: hoe out the kitchen cabinets of all non-essentials as we'll be tearing 'em out in two weeks. Now -- where IS that dang Ty Pennington when I need him!!!! :rotfl2:

Wow, Sue, that does sounds awesome!!! Save me some.

Right now I just finished drinking a huge mug of coffee that I take with me to the gym - you got to work hard to keep this figure - :lmao: I did 30 minutes of interval training on the elliptical, 20 minutes cross country, and 40 minutes on the treadmill. Hey - maybe we should start an exercise thread???

I'm gonna clean up and then have a small lunch because my parents are in town and we'll be meeting them for drinks and dinner!

Have a good one!

Drinking? A little viognier. Had to open it to use some for the pot, don't you know?

Cooking (to eat for this evening's dinner) pork roast, with cider gravy and baked stuffed apples.

Watching? Well, the Bucs are on.

Next vacation? None planned right this very minute. :guilty: We'll be going to Phoenix to visit family next April. Will probably do a DVC weekend sometime before then, but you never know. Not sure what is up for the holidays so that makes it tricky to try and book something through DVC for those times. (We have indecently good luck on last minute holiday reservations).

Have to go and get ready for the upcoming work week pretty soon. Laundry in the machines, and a nasty iron calling my name.

Neat thread! Thanks for starting it! :p

:p

You know they say people don't cook at home anymore, but you really couldn't tell it from this thread, eh?

Dinner sounds wonderful!

For me:

DRINKING: Seltzer at the moment, but with plans to move over to an appletini when 5 PM comes around - of course, it really IS after 5 PM right now, isn't it, but if we start with that line of thinking there will no rules, chaos would rule, and then what would we all do? :rotfl2:

EATING: I'm preparing scalloped potatoes, barbque chicken sandwiches (my son loves them and was disappointed we didn't have leftovers the other evening), and roasted tomatoes.

WATCHING: The Eagles lose - it's my new Sunday past time. And am just beginning to watch the Colts/Broncos matchup, which should be lots better than the preceeding game :confused3

THE NEXT VACATION: Almost upon us!

Well I sent the DH out to sea around noon, so I'm flying solo the next few days.

So......the London Broil is marinating in a nice olive oil & vinegar concoction.

I'm marinating in Budweiser, and the race is on! (Go Tony Stewart!)

In my single lifestyle I have so far scraped paint spills off of the freshly painted bathroom floor, cleaned the koi pond, cleaned the pool, pulled some weeds, went grocery shopping, and started dinner.

Where is that decadent lifestyle I keep hearing about?

The question is, will this single party boy make it to Desperate Housewives?

Ohhh Viki,

What are roasted tomatoes? That sounds good!

Do we need a recipe swap thread?

Ooooh, maybe we do!

Here's my simple, and waist-watching recipe:

Place some EVOO on the bottom of a roasting pan, slice lengthwise a dozen or so Roma tomatoes, place them cut-side up, drizzle them with a bit more of the EVOO, sprinkle with kosher/sea salt (and some garlic powder if you like), and roast in the oven (preheated to 375) for 20-25 minutes. Take them out and sprinkle with a dusting of shredded mozzarella, roast 5 minutes longer, take out the beauties and let them sit for a few minutes to settle and cool.

They are MARVELOUS, taking the most lackluster of tomatoes and calling forth all of their inherent flavor!

MMMMMMMMMM

Sounds great! Ill try that one soon!

Oh and I found the decadent lifestyle!

The DH just called, he has a $55 bar tab already, and they haven't even left the port yet! :rotfl2:

God bless him!

Oooh, a man after my own heart!!! We had having dinner with Mom and Dad, who were in town for a quick visit last night, but we hit the bar first, and I believe that was about the sum we totaled between DP, DD (virgin strawberry daiquiris), and moi in 60 minutes!

I have a problem tooth, so I got in the car and dragged myself to the Dentist this am. She gave me vicodin for pain.

WOW

Where have these little beatuies been all my life? :rotfl2:

Took one at noon, didn't wake up till 4! Think I may need to start breaking them in half if I want to function in society.....

She said "dont drink with these" Geesh, no worry! Drinking would involve me getting off of the couch!
