In your opinion, based on all your trips to WDW, do you think people are rushing too much around the parks and such?

I never rush. I just plan (ok over plan) to make the most of my vacation. I could not imagine wandering around the world without knowing where I'm going and/or eating.

I think people who rush don't plan and find it overwhelming. Hence, in order to get "their $$ worth" or to see everything, they are rushed....just my opinion

We like to take it easy - of course regular trips since before my first birthday help take the need to rush out of things, haha.

I think because there is SO much to do, that many people feel they need to do it all or else they've wasted their money. Every second wasted slowing down their step is a waste of money when they've spent a couple/few thousand dollars to get there. I have 28 years of trips and STILL haven't come close to seeing it all and I'm ok with that - but there seems to be this mentality that it's possible and required to see every corner of "the World" before they hop back on that plane or get back on the road.

sept will be our 11th trip (DH and I) we ALWAYS just stroll around and relax - never really have a plan. however, this past december we took 4yr old D-niece- and not planning ahead of time was a BIG mistake. i think we were rushing around to see everything that i feel like we saw NOTHING!

i think when you have kids- you need a plan so that you are not rushing around.

i have subscribed to TGM for our next trip-- the most important advice i need is the "low crowds" at the parks. i am definately planning which park to go to each day with that info! ...and then we can relax even nmore with NO CROWDS!

Hi, my name is DJ and I'm a rusher. :thumbsup2

My son and I rush around the parks (AM only) because we want to hit our favorites as many times as possible without waiting.

We rush because we want to see as much as possible while we're there. Of course we'll never see it all, but we sure have a blast trying. :cheer2:

As the day goes on, we slow down a bit.

I don't think there's anything wrong with rushing around; if that's what you enjoy doing. As long as you're respectful to the people around you, (Not knocking people over as you make your way to SM :moped: )

There isn't a right or wrong way to do WDW.

Yes, in general I believe the visitors are all in a rush to get around the parks and I know that is how I behave at the parks as well despite my conscious efforts not to do that before I get there. Something comes over me when I get to the parks and I have to rush around and get to my next destination as soon as possible or something terrible will happen. Though I'm not sure what.

I don't completely rush, but my wife tells me I get into "go mode" quite easily. I'll be walking along at a normal relaxed pace and, for example, see a short wait at Buzz. "Wanna do Buzz?" I ask. "Sure," she replies. At that point I start walking at three times the normal pace and apparently get a determined look on my face. She usually pulls me back and slows me down in short order. ^_^

I'll bet few of the people rushing around will ever see a hidden Mickey. They probably don't even know they exist!

I can't talk for other people, but the first time we went (1986) we rushed from one end of the day 'til the other and I think it was a combination of excitement and wanting to see everything because we didn't know if we'd ever get back to WDW.

We did have a plan and for the most part we stuck to it, but we just couldn't wait to get to the next thing on the list.

Well we did go back, many times, and now we relax and enjoy our time, part of the reason for this is that we no longer have the stamina or energy to rush.

Over the years I've noticed it's VERY rushed at MK, moreso than the other parks.

I think we've been to WDW so much we don't need to rush anymore. We just went in Feb and there were days I had to stop and try to remember what we did that day, 'cause all I could remember was wandering around the parks watching people but not riding rides or waiting for characters! :rolleyes1

I, too, am an anal planner! Because of the planning, we know where we are going, and it does eliminate SOME of the rushing. Also, we have been there a few times now, and so there are some priorities or "need to see" places, but others that we can pass by. I believe some of the rushing comes from the people who don't plan, but also, those who don't have the option of being back any time soon. Gotta respect that mentality too! I know I was in that "gotta see everything" mode the first couple of times! We are looking forward to being there in Dec. with low crowds, and perhaps less rushing!

I haven't been to WDW in many years. I am doing alot of pre planning. Reading the boards here, books, reviews etc. That way we will know what we want to get to, and what we don't mind skipping.

For instance...we know we want to do the big coasters at MK, but also know that skipping Dumbo or most of the sit down shows is going to be ok with us. So with that in mind, we plan to hit the parks early and then just wander the park according to the tour guides recommendations. We won't rush. We have no set plan on what needs to be seen when.

If the line is too long, we'll get a fast pass. I've only planned a few ADR's for 7pm dinners, so there is no need to rush out of a park to go to dinner. If the kids get hot and cranky we'll go back to the hotel for a nap/swim.

I'm all about the pre planning. Then just chillin. My work will be done, and it will be my time to play with my kids....and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I don't know about other people - just not a "people watcher." Sometimes we rush and sometimes we don't.

For people who go only once, of course they want to do and see as much as possible, which kinda requires rushing.

I don't think there is anything wrong with either way.

My Dh and I were just talking about this last night because of our upcoming trip in May. I was saying I don't want to rush around the parks but with 5 kids who all want to see everything and do it all it is hard not to sometimes. They all have a diffrent thing they just HAVE to do. I just want to go and have a nice vacation with my family and now that we are in a financial position where we know we will be going back regularly it makes it much easier to do just that. I think that is really why people rush because they know they won't be back anytime soon so why not try and see it all! :thumbsup2
