We went in December & it was still like 80...
Since we are gonna get a pop-up camper, will there be a bad time of year to go...weatherwise???
Didn't think there is, but just wondering...

We've been there in Dec and it's been gorgeous weather - 70s and 80s and then there's other years it's been 40s and you wonder what happened. I think Dec thru Feb are the most changing temps down there.

We go most often in December and January. We occationally will have a "cool" day in the 50's or 60's, but that seems to be it. Usually it is comfortable enough, but nights could get into the 40's in JAnuary.

The last two times we went in January for the Marathon, we had record cold temps.

2001 -- low of 30 degrees on the morning of the race

2002 -- still pretty cold, but about mid to upper 30's, overcast, raining

In November 2000 just before Thanksgiving although it was Sunny we had a wind chill factor of "freezing" ...fleeces and jeans went on but I couldn't help byut laugh at my fellow Brits who stuck out like a sore thumb - "I'm on holiday in Florida and by golly I'm gonna where shorts however cold it is" ;)

Christmas night in 1999 was very cold--high 30's or low 40's. This past January, it was also very cold (highs in the low 60's on New Years as I recall). Bottom line is to be prepared for almost anything as the weather can be quite variable very quickly.

We went in January of 2000 and it hit freezing temps at night. It was coooold.

I was in Orlando the same years as Deb and had the same experiences!

I remember one day standing on line for Spaceship Earth in 40 degree weather just shivering!

I really like the cold so I don't really mind but I am amazed at how little clothing some people wear during these snaps! I saw midriffs and shorts! :earseek: I wondered if that was all they packed!

My funniest memory was recorded by my sister. We had rented a vacation home and she wanted to film Michael and me with our feet in the pool. Well, we dipped our feet in and both of us jumped out SCREAMING! The water so sooo cold it actually hurt! Needless to say my sister just LOVES to show everyone that video...

We went to WDW a couple years ago in January.
Well when we go to disney we all bring one pair of pants and one sweatshirt...
We had to go out and all of us brought a 2nd sweatshirt and we walked around wearing 2 sweatshirts for most of the week. That's how cold it was.

I'm with Deb in IA. How did we miss each other!?
Those days were cold. We have gone the past two Januarys and there has always been one day that was colder in WDW than Omaha.
I take everything from summer clothes and a winter coat/gloves and have worn them all!
When DH ran the '01 marathon, it was the first and only time he wore his emergency garbage bag.

Is it just me, or does Florida cold feel colder than anywhere else! I was at WDW in early December of 1999 and it probably got down to about 40 degrees. Now 40 in the winter where I live doesn't feel very cold to me at all, but 40 at WDW makes me think I'm going to freeze to death. It was miserable! We had to wear hats and gloves. Then we went back a few weeks later for New Years and it was warm. You just never know how it will be in the winter there.

I was there from February 26 through March 5 this year and it got very cold for a few days. In fact, they told me that we had record cold on the dates that it got down to the low 30s. I just sat in the hotel room.
I am going during Dis Con and I swear that if it gets down in the 30s again, I will never again try anytime but November - which used to be my regular time to visit. (BDVC - that is Before Disney Vacation Club)

I have been at Disney when it was 25 degrees. Really cold for this Florida girl. This was in December and January.

year 2000, week before Christmas it was in the 40's & 50's

year 2002, first week of January it was in the 40's & 50's

But, Becky and Seth were still in the pool. Steam just rolling off ot it. I acutally put a blanket in the dryer at ASMo, Becky came over to the edge, nodded her head, I took the blanket out. put the old scooter on bunny, grabbed seth wraped him in the blanket and off to the room we rolled. Was in their about 10 minutes and they both wanted a hot fudge sundae. So off the the food court I go.

It was so much fun we didn't care if it snowed!!!!!!!!!!

The temperature was in the 40s in February a couple of years ago while we were there. Of course, we have also experienced sunny and 80 in Feb.

what's the coldest temp's you dealt with in WDW?

Absolute Zero

....I ferget the date....but it was the the time I told Mrs.G thar waz no way I'd be spending the $75 per ticket for La Nouba and she really wanted to go..
......it got some kinda chilly that night! :earseek:

LOL! That waz early in our marriage....back before I gots 'trained'!

Um, absolute zero is somewhere around negative 450 degrees Farenheit (sp?)!!!! Zero degrees is NOT absolute zero.

I remember being miserably cold in Spring Break '98 and Dec or Jan '92. '92 was below freezing, and '98 was probably in the 30's.

January this year - freezing cold temperatures with wind in the morning, highs some days of about 55. The stores were sold out of mittens, gloves, and hats/ski caps. Everyone was bundled up in layer after layer of sweatshirts, jackets, etc.

I was there the first week of December 1997, and boy did the weather fluctuate!

Here's a brief synopsis:
Day 1, in the 80's, rainy most of the day
Days 2-5, beautiful and clear, but COLD! 40's during the day, I think evening was 30's. I loved it, but I had to use thermal underwear, gloves, hat, etc.
Day 6, back in the 80's, clear during the day, thunderstorm at night!

So I guess the rule-of-thumb for December is, be prepared for anything and everything!
