Ok, I'm at it again. This American will be in Paris next July..............specifically visiting DLP on the 16th - 18th. We would like to book the Disneyland Hotel for two nights. That can't be done on the internet now. In one of my other threads someone form across the pond (Ireland I believe) indicated that they just booked (by phone) for next July and took advantage of an early booking incentive that had you stay in one hotel (ie. Newport Bay) and pay for the next lowest level (ie. Sequoia Lodge). Sounds great.
So I call................and DLP is not accepting reservations from the US as they haven't set the rates yet. OK, from Disney's perspective I can see this. Why quote me a rate now when fluctuations in the exchange rate could have an effect..........or at least that is my guess as to why they won't set rates and take a reservation until February.
However, from my consumer perspective this just makes no sense. Lets say that today they want 1,000 euros for a July '04 reservation, a reservation they will apparently take right now if you live over there. Why can't they just convert that into USD today and let me reserve and pay? Or better yet, let me use my credit card to pay in euros and be done with the reservation. It seems silly that they should have to wait to "set the USD rates". Wouldn't it be more effective and efficient to just allow everyone to book in euros, or have a real time currency conversion?
OK, enough for my rant. I'd still like to save a few $$$ (we could be talking a couple hundred) if possible. Seeing as DLP won't allow me to make a reservation from where I am, is there any other way I can make a reservation that would allow me to take advantage of the current incentive? Is there any way I can book in euros and avoid having to wait for them to set the USD rates..........thereby missing the current incentive? Can I use an agent? Can I just tell them I'm calling from France? Can I use my friend's address in Montpellier and make a reservation that way?
What do you think?
