Hi. :)

I'm new to these boards but have found so many people raving about the Poly, so I'm wondering if some of you could enlighten me about it. I've only stayed at Coronado Springs and that was pre-babies. So, why do you so many people choose the Poly?

TIA!:thumbsup2

My favorite things about the Poly are

1. LOCATION and all the wonderful transportation options
2. The rooms are very large. More square footage then most WDW properties
3. Theming and wonderfully friendly CM's.
4. You can get a dole whip without leaving the property
5. Watching the fireworks from a Theme Park View room or from the beach.

I agree with all of the above!:thumbsup2

I would also add...
Great dining options. Even the counter service place is fantastic.
We also love the pool, and the marina, the arcade and lying on the Hammocks on the beach!

Ditto!

Location, transportation and it's laid-back casual style.

We just love everything about the Poly.......the close proximity to MK as well as CR and GF for dining and shopping, the fun volcano pool and having a dead on view of the castle while swimming, the beach for relaxing in a hammock watching the fireworks, Captain Cooks for great CS meals, walking around at night under lit tiki torches is nice, the rooms are big and all rooms come with a day bed, and the tropical atmosphere is beautiful and makes you feel like you're in a different world :goodvibes.

it is a fabulous resort, great places to eat, very pretty and tropical. larger rooms, awesome views of mk. having the monorail is very nice too.

Love the theming
Lush beautiful landscapping
Large comfy rooms
Monorail or boat to MK
Walking distance to TTC for Epcot monorail
Kona & 'Ohana are fav restaurants
Pool
Beach- great spot to watch Wishes, or relax.
Marina
Great staff
Easy to get to the other MK resorts for dining. Or Epcot for that matter.

We love Poly, but the counter service food is not even average. We consider it to be the worst of any resort in WDW.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you eat that was so bad?

Captain Cooks is probably our favorite resort counter service place! We have eaten breakfast and lunch there many times and have never had a bad meal. Even the kids liked their kids meals. Their pulled pork sandwich is so yummy! And you gotta love the Mickey waffles!:thumbsup2

The first time we stayed there (late 90's) I could not for the life of me figure out the hype. So a few years later I tried it again, loved it. Have stayed there several times since. As others have mentioned- transportation is awesome to MK and Epcot, its hit or miss to the DHS & AK via bus so reports the teens. The CM's are awesome, the grounds and resort or totally relaxing. The rooms are large when compared to other Disney resorts standard resort rooms. We enjoy the dining options overall. The pool is nice but is somewhat small and lacks hot tubs which is kinda a bummer. Still cannot figure out why they didn't add them when the pool area was totally redone.

Great resort when you have young children that require midday breaks and naps.

The location. Being right next to TTC gives you direct monorail rides to both MK and Epcot -- this is priceless when you have young kids and a stroller.

Another draw to Poly is the ability to watch Wishes right from the beach there. This, of course, factors into location as well.

Poly also has great restaurants. We really enjoy Kona and love Ohana for dinner. A great perk is being able to get the tonga toast right at the fast-food place.

I agree with everything you said.

I agree with what everyone has said are the positives to the Poly. However, in the spirit of full disclosure, there are a couple of downsides to conisder:

1) Single sink in the bathroom
2) Vanity is inside the bathroom w/shower and toilet so it's harder to have one person getting ready at the vanity while someone else is in the shower
3) No jacuzzies/hot tubs at the hotel

Wow, thanks everyone! I'm going to look into it because it sounds beautiful.

That's a big bummer that there isn't any hot tubs. If we come down in January it will be so my DH can run the marathon, and I'm sure he'd want a hot tub after that. :scared1:

Not having to fold up the stroller for 2 of the 4 parks is a huge plus for us. Once the little ones are older, will it be worth the money?? Yes for me, I love it. Maybe not for DH, cause he's cheap.

Watching the electric light parade from a hammock on the beach is pretty sweet too.

Loved all the food options, nice BIG room. My son loved feeding the ducks his cheerios. I know, you're not supposed to feed the ducks, DH and DS never listen to me!!:confused3

Having the sink inside the bathroom is not really an issue, except for when Grandma joins us, but we make due.

The Poly is my all time favorite resort!!
