What's Good About Today

We all fall into the trap of grumbling. I thought that we could start a thread where we try to identify at least one great thing about the day at hand.

Today was a muggy wet day. I am thankful that my girls threw their bathing suits on to go "dance in the rain". There was even a rainbow as I looked down the street. Awesome.

Well, today is the second to last day of school for my kids
I got to curl up and read a book with a cup of tea while it rained and thundered for an hour this morning
I got to Dis
I kind of took a me day knowing my kids will be home the rest of the summer!
I'd say that is a great thing about today...

I only had to work 2 hours this morning, and then got to come home . When I checked my voicemail, my husband said he was going to work at home and take part of the day off .

So this evening we finished staining the alley side of our fence .

Oh, and I got some scrumptious raspberries and blackberries at Sam's.

I got my Travel Packet today with my luggage tags!! from Disney Travel. We leave within the month. That's what's GREAT about today.

Other goodies for today- I got my dogs back from the kennel. We were away this weekend. They are freshly bathed and smell good. Nails clipped and they have on cute little pink bandanas.

I think my son found a summer job too!
all in all a great day!

Today, the weather here was absolutely beautiful - blue, sunny skies, warm, nice breeze - a total joy.

My husband is doing better, in good spirits & hopefully will be getting out of the hospital/nursing home on Wed after two weeks, if tests results are good.

My parents at 78 & 79 are doing well. I love them dearly.

I found cd's I've been looking for since we moved into this house (4 years ago)! They were hiding in a box of VHS tapes in the back of the garage.

The weather was beautiful and we were very productive in getting stuff packed and sorted into keep/toss boxes (and actually putting things in the toss pile).

I found out today that I might not get laid off from my job!!

I'm at my place at the lake - in the mountains - until November.. It's beautiful - quiet - lots of wildlife to see - great place for sleeping well at night..

Today it didn't rain - we've had so much recently I thought my son-in-law was going to have to build an ark - LOL..

I made myself a delicious dinner tonight (after cooking and freezing all of my mashed potatoes for a week last night).. I had roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, and cranberry sauce.. Yum!

I received a small, unexpected "windfall" today ($$) in the mail, so now I'm feeling a little better about how much my new glasses are possibly going to cost me..

I got to watch my 4 year old DS practice with his class for their end of year performance. I got to see it because he goes to a daycare on the campus of the retirement community where I work. Today was great because it reminded me how very lucky I am to have him in a great program right where I work.

We got a little much needed rain this morning and now that the kids are on their way to bed looks like we will get some more. So the part of the day when they were home was nice outside.

I only had to tell DS twice to do his homework

DH forgot his wallet so I got to have lunch with him because I dropped it off at the office.

It was a picture perfect day in the Washington, DC/Maryland area today. Great temps and a slight breeze. Wow!

DD had Lasik today. For the first time in 13 years, she can see without glasses or contacts. Hooray!

I've lost two more pounds this week!

I had special time with each of my kids today!! I loved it.

My mother left and took her complaints with her. My DH took the top off the Jeep and we drove up to the mountains to eat at "Bubba-Que"

I found out today that I have lost about 60lbs since my dr last weighed me!!!

Also my good friends girls that were in a bad boating accident over memorial weekend are doing good. One is home and the other will be transferred to an acute care facility near home tomorrow.

I offered to take DH out to lunch for his birthday today. He chose Famous Daves. I grabbed the birthday suprise coupon for him before we left. When we got there, the waitress informed us that, because of the coupon, he would get an ENTIRE RACK OF RIBS for FREE! Woohoo! Our lunch cost $15 for the two of us!

I love these 'good day' threads!

We are enjoying taking care of 3 of our grands, ages 12, 9, 5 and their poodle, while our DD and SIL are attending a 3 day conference. Today we picked them up from school, played outside, they helped fixed dinner and later we had warm CC cookies w/milk they help make. Now that baths are done, we're watching AMV's while winding
down for beddie bye time. It's been a good day!!

I had one more day with my sweet eight week old foster baby. Since I don't know how long I'll have her, every day is special. She didn't cry when she woke up from her naps, and was generally a happy baby today.
My DD is home from college and and her best friend is here watching a movie.The baby is between them listening to 'girl talk'. I made cookie bars for them and the house smells wonderful. Yes, it has been a good day.
