What's going on with McDonald's french fries?

For those of you who liked the fried apple pies have you tried the ones Taco Bell came out with? It's called a caramel apple empanada. So good, especially hot, and they are fried.

Can't really comment on the fries. Taste ok to me.

After reading all these posts it's clear to me now that MCDees has finally removed the crack they've been putting in the fries. :rotfl2:

can't say I'm a fan of your trains tho.. ;)

Yeah, they look like something out of a scarey movie don't they?

Please don't tell me they changed the fries! When I was pregnant with my second DD I pratically lived on them. And I stil have the 20 pounds to show it!
After pizza, McDonald fries are my favorite.

Mcdonald's has lost its lust for me sometime ago. Now Taco Bell I can't stay away from that place. The carmel apple empanadas are to die for. Must eat warm.

mine have been horid lately too...
I need to get a :dog: to feed that crap too...

They are especially tasty when you dip them into a chocolate shake.

I do the same thing! Actually, I like Wendy's for this too - fries taste great dipped in the frosty!!

I ate at McDonalds on Saturday and yesterday for lunch, and the fries tastes fine.

Unfortunately, (oh, how to phrase this without being too graphic or sharing TMI) ... I did suffer some other side effect, if everyone can get my drift. McDonalds and their fries are the only thing I can think of that's in common for both days.

I have no idea if they've changed their oil to a new formula at these restaurants, but I'm going to call and find out.

Well if any of you get some and they don't taste good, DON'T THROW THEM OUT!

Stick them in an envelope and send them over to London...I'll eat them! :wave2:

LMAO!!! :rotfl:

I asked the manger of the local McDonalds and he said they are using a new type of potato. I think the French Fries are now tasteless. It must be a money saving move.

I prefer Wendy's fries now. French fries are meant to be greasy and fattening. If I wanted something healthy, I'd get a salad.

Wendy's fries with the Ranch dip for their chicken strips. YUM!!!!

exactly! all this making "bad" food lower fat nonsense annoys me... just eat less of it! and... generally when they replace the fat with "low fat" stuff it's usually worse for you as it's a worse kind of fat and has more chemicals and stuff...

you're better off just having a little of what's bad for ya... lol...

i have a "eat healthily during the week and whatever you want (within reason) on saturday" rule... but i wouldn't deny myself something during the week if it was a special occasion... and i find anyway, my tastebuds have changed and i can't eat all that crappy food anymore... (i had two McD's at the weekend and felt sick... and my skin is AWFUL!)

DH and I stopped eating McDonalds over 4 years ago. We were trying to loose weight and that was the one thing we decided we needed to give up. Well, last week I was running errands and had a bout of low blood sugar, so I had to get something to eat and the only thing around was McDonalds. I got a chicken sandwich and fries. I thought the fries were not as good as I remembered. I used to crave them, now I could do without them if they keep tasting like bland slivers of cardboard.

last few ones I've had have been off, but I just thought they rushed the cooking and pulled them from the fryer early.
As for Wendy's fries, YUCK. Haven't liked them since they changed many yrs ago.
Give me any of the Arby's fried potato products any day. Love the curly fires, regular fries and potato cakes.

What about the McDonald's fries at Disney World? That's where we get the majority of our McDonald's...they always smelled so good when you walked by the fry stand...

Anyone been there recently?

When I worked at McD's in the 70's, a person just shook on the salt...one of the few things not regulated. We used to have this cute older gentleman named Walt. He would order his fries without salt. When we saw him coming, we'd clean out the fry bin and make a fresh batch!

Don't they do that anymore? I used to be the "fry girl" at McDonalds in the mid-80s and we would often do a no-salt batch and you had to clean out the entire fry bin first before you made them.

been there! lol... we just had to put the salt on in a "golden arches" motion... lol... and would only do no-salt fries if they were ordered... and we'd put a brown tray over the little bit where you put the boxed fries under the heater and serve them from there to save cleaning out the whole fry station...

i once had to work a whole saturday lunch time on fries on my own.. next day i was like "why do i have bruises on my hands?" it was from lifting up fry baskets all day! :earseek:
