Okay, here's my pics & review of Raglan Road! I'll do Jiko tomorrow.
Raglan Road was really a very pleasant surprise! In fact it was awesome! I'm so glad Lauren had told us how much they enjoyed it! Otherwise I don't know if we would have tried it. Thanks, FRAN uh Lauren!!!!
First of all, it's a pub right? So of course we had beer! Bob & I both chose a different beer flight.
We enjoyed the beer flight, but it was confusing to remember which beer was what. I think we might have been happier if we had ordered the beer we know we like. For DH that would have been a Black & Tan, half Harp Ale with half Guinness. Because that's what he did with the ale & the guinness! Combined them to make his Black & Tan.
I thought I took pics of every dish but some are missing. Maybe with the beer coming first, I just got confused.
Bob ordered the Colcannon soup which was delicious! Super creamy potato, bacon & cabbage soup. Sounds plain but with the bacon and cabbage taking center stage! Very different from any soup I've tasted. Yuum!
I ordered just appetizers which came out with DH's & Mom's entrees. However I didn't get to eat much of this, after my Mom tasted it, she went on & on about how good it was! And how she should have ordered that instead of the baked salmon! I ended up giving her my smoked salmon appetizer and I ate her baked salmon. The baked smoked salmon was so good too, it had a maple glaze on it & was served with mashed potatoes. Sorry I don't have a pic of that one.
But here's a pic of the yummy smoked salmon appetizer. It was the traditional smoked salmon served with capers, shallots, creme fraiche and good crunchy bread. Simple but when done with great ingredients like this one, absolutely wonderful!
This is the other appetizer I ordered that I did get to enjoy most of.
Breaded & Fried Goat's Cheese over a salad of mixed baby green's with walnuts and raspberries with a rasberry viniagrette. The goat cheese was crusty on the outside and soft with gooey deliciousness oozing out! The walnuts were sweetened & lightly spiced. All together this dish was a big hit with me!
Bob ordered the Paddy's Pork:
Pork loin stuffed with sausage, served over leeks, cabbage and mashed potatoes. It also had a sweet glaze. The pork loin could have been a bit more tender, but was moist & the sausage stuffing was very flavorful. This was very good but not quite as good as either one of the salmon dishes.
The one dish I AM SO SORRY that I didn't get a pic of was the Bread & Butter Pudding!!! This dessert was unbelievable! The bread pudding was served in a huge coffee cup (that it appeared to have been baked in). It was served in a large plate with two little pitchers, one with a caramel sauce and the other had a sweetened clotted cream sauce! Oh my goodness, this was so delish! How they did that bread pudding I would love to know! It was so light but also smooth and creamy, with raisins speckeled all through the pudding. And the sauces were just amazing! That cream sauce was something special! It was a sweetened super rich thick cream, It had just the right amount of sweetness to complement the pudding but not over power it. Raglan Road would be worth the trip just for the bread pudding!
If the great food wasn't enough, there is also the wonderful Irish music & dancing to enjoy while you're eating!
