And, you know how sometimes things go wrong in the kitchen? Well, I document those also. Here is a very spectacular failure from today's meal. The gooey mass you see are potstickers, that were meant to be simmered and then pan fried. As you can see, they fell apart on contact with water. To the far right, that thing that looks like wookie armor is actualy an exploded eggroll. Note the lone carrot, still clinging on for dear life.

You found my kitchen disaster pictures :rotfl2:

Probably more than you wanted to know, but there you have it!

No, not at all. I actually find this fascinating. Isn't it amazing how much a delivery of a story can impact you? I remember one of my professors in college, his specialty was Beowulf. Every year, at the end of the semester, he would invite the best students to watch him perform parts of it in the original Old English, which is just nothing like our current language. But, because of his facial expressions, gestures, and vocal tone, we were able to follow the story. If anything, it was more frightening!

When Laura and I lived together, we used to do this also. We called it "The Game." We had all of our essays, poems, etc. that we owned catalouged and their names stuck inside a tin. You'd pull the name of a work and have read it out loud. We actually graded each other on our delivery. Ideally, you had to have it memorized, and points counted for gestures, realism, and emotion.

OK, Laura, I have officially outed us as geeks!

Caili got fourth place yesterday...her worst placement to date, especially since there were only five girls in her flight. However, she skated really well (I didn't think she deserved 4th, but I am not a judge) and I was proud of her for that. She had just about everything against her at this competition: she missed two weeks of skating due to illness; she didn't get to practice her program before the competition; and she had to go first. Going first is terrible in skating.

Caili was fine though -- I did make sure she didn't go in with high expectations -- and her team won first place later in the day, so that was exciting.

Poor Caili, after being out sick for so long, not being able to practice and having to go first, not fair.:confused3 She'll bounce back and bring her "A" game next competition!:thumbsup2

The moving smilies are making me crazy.

::yes::

OK, you're normal, but we still worship you!:worship: ;)

Anyone here ever stay at POFQ or POR??

Sunday linnner:

I made Chinese food. TOO MUCH Chinese food. I swear, in another life I had 14 children! Dinner was good though, and I spoke to my brother for the first time since Super Bowl Sunday. I suppose I have sort of forgiven him for knocking over and wrecking my camera. If he would only apologize, but I guess I am asking too much.

ANYWAY...dinner!

:scared1:

You made all of that? By yourself? At home? In one day?

:faint:

Kathy A friend and fellow Diser has stayed at POFQ or was it POR. She and her family really liked it. Her screen name is Bunchkin, if you want to contact her.

I think they were in alligator ballou? Ok my memory stinks.

Oh Laura, give Caili a hug for me and tell her she's a super skater in my book. The poor thing was sick so long...I am sure not skating that long had an affect. 4th place is still great!

Becky, Looks amazing as usual. I didn't know your bro wrecked your camera...MEN! Thanks for sharing your disaster...you prabably didn't need that dish anyway! ;)

Kat, I stayed at POR or whatever the abbreviations are when it was Dixie Landings. It was nice. Dod you check out the DVC boards for rental info?

BTW everyone, I went on FOODTV dot com yesterday and they are accepting recipes for the next show of...geez, now I can't remember the name of the show...the one with Guy and Mark as host...I think we all should submit something for the heck of it...

Yes, but, remember, my weekend meals are boosted by my sous chef Laura (liamandcaili). I make her chop all the onions and garlic, and she also made the egg rolls all by herself! Plus, she helped fry the different things that needed frying. If I had a decent kitchen I swear I could make the yummiest food. But, instead, we toil in my closet :sad2: .

I'm back.

Kathy- I have stayed at POFQ and it is one of my favorites. It is a compact lovely resort with theming that may make you feel right at home. Or not if it is not authentic ;). I paid for a waterview and that was the only thing I regretted. There was not need.

Becky- That meal looks amazing!

AKL Megs- Becky is a hero here!

Glynis_ I am so glad that you explained some of what storytelling entails. It must truly be an art form that should be saved. You have got to be proud of your DD.

Laura- Poor Cailli Ever since her team lost against a book I am not a fan of the judges

Janice- I am smilie free today, looking for them is giving me a headache and there have been too many of those here this week.

Lauren- I used a heating pad all week and I am officially sick of it!

I am glad we got grinders this evening, they were so good! The girls said that the quesadillas were 7 points and they have been ooohing and ahhing over them, they really look good! They found wraps that were 1 point apiece so I think we can find ways to make some snacks as well.

Chicken from Backyard Burger.

:)

Man, I miss Backyard Burger. SO YUMMY!!!

Wow, I'm impressed. I rarely do anything educational in my spare time. Your asian meal looks delicious, btw.

Yes, we stayed at POR a couple of years ago. LOVED it. My sister and mom stayed at POFQ, which was my top pick, but there were no CM rates there for us.

I ended up grilling hot dogs and making velveeta shells and cheese. Talk about easy! We were in the mood for kid comfort food, I guess :confused3

We've stayed at both. POR once and POFQ several times. Both are nice but we like POFQ the best. I think that is because it is the smaller of the 2 and POFQ is fun for us cause it reminds us of home in NOLA. But you may want a change of scenery while you are on vacation. :rotfl2:

But to be honest, lately dh and I like staying at POP Century. Room wise, I cannot see a difference between POP Century and POR/POFQ. The theme around POR/POFQ is nicer than POP, but we don't spend that much time at the resort. And, I think POP has a much better food court.

For us, we always ask for a room away from the pool - hoping to get a quiet location. And we never pay for a preferred room at any resort. We do like the boat ride you can take from POR/POFQ to DTD.

Just my opinion. :upsidedow

I am making chili and cornbread tonight. We have invited Kevin over to join us so we can talk to him. Pray for me, you guys. I am shaking already.

WFD at your house?

Last night's salmon recipe was a bust. I thought it was ok Mr Alex however thought it was yucko. How can this kid eat Salmon at disney and love it and come home and hate it:crazy2: . I can't think my cooking is that bad. The kid is 5'5'' and 150 lbs.

Tonight I might torture him so more ::yes:: tonight we or just me are having chicken curry and naan. I think MR A will have plain chicken.

Ok a whine from me this morning. I don't want more snow.:scared: I like seeing my driveway. I still have to be carefull getting my mail out of the box. That snow stuff is still to high over there. I hope they are over estimating the 7 inches and blowing snow. Ok off to the showers for me :wave2:

Have a small glass of port to relax yourself. Talking it out really is the best thing though the hardest thing to do. :grouphug: pixiedust:

No, I don't understand it.

I'll try and explain quickly in a PM a little later or I will call you...:) First, you need to figure out the dates and kinda where you would like to stay and go from there. Each day has a different point value.

I am iffy with salmon as well. I really do not care for it unless its lox on a bagel and even if that it has to be very little but I LOVED the chowder at Raglan Road and it was an ingredient.

I hope the snow doesn't come your way.

*******
Nancy and Wendie, I have never used a heating pad. Maybe that is my problem. Hope you guys are feeling better. I am good today.

Lindsay, I'll say a prayer for you. I can't understand what is wrong with them! Maybe they are finding out that they are wrong for each other or jumped into things too fast and they are taking it out on the both of you. Hang in there kid. Like Janice said, talking is the best although hard. Have a small glass of port.

We are having chicken stir fry and white rice.

Have a great day all!

Thanks Lauren!! We're planning on 9/25-9/29 and would like EPCOT area.

Lots of errands today and a dentist appt. so I'm going to cook a pot of red beans!;)

Glynis -- That storytelling conference sounds great! Glad you got lots of good ideas for the summer.

Right now, I am planning to have a turkey sandwich for dinner. We have skating, so I need to make something quick. Of course, if I eat the turkey before then  I'll need to have something else.

It was a strange winter here - I guess it's over? It's practically spring outside. Beautiful, breezy, high 60s. We never had any ice at all - which is abnormal. I hope yours is over soon, too.

We are having chicken stir fry and white rice.

Can you share your stir fry recipe? I haven't found one I love yet =)

Tonight I am hosting a Mom's Night Out - we are going to play lasertag, bowl, and then have dessert at Saltgrass Steakhouse. I arranged it so they can eat with their family and then come but some are driving so far that they need to eat when they get there so I'm having something there with them. It maybe snack bar food :p

DH is eating leftovers.

I just found out that the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT is starting the weekend we planned on going to Disney....anyone know how this affects crowd level in the parks????

Good Afternnon All,:wave2:
Boy, you guys weren't kidding when you said it was hard to keep up after missing a few days. I am going to be a Monday-Thursday poster with an occasional weekend check in here and there. Weekends are just to busy and I am not near a computer. I am trying to go back and catch up on what I missed (tough job)
I started back on the diet this morning:crazy2: (something you will get used to hearing every monday!) so Dinner tonight is baked haddock with onions, brown rice and steamed broccoli. Simple and low fat!
More snow again, tomorrow so I am trying to plan something for the crockpot. Any ideas?
