By the way, Kathy, I forgot to mention that your baked ziti got rave reviews from my family!!! Even my son, who won't eat spaghetti sauce, loved it! He said it tasted just like pizza, so it was ok to eat! I've still got bunches in the fridge for lunch today! I can't wait!!!

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about Buddy's Aunt. I'll say a prayer for her.

Ladies, I need help. I am having such a hard time cleaning my hardwood floors. Everything I use leaves filmy streaks. I heard that some vinegar and water works but I am trying that now and it still is leaving streaks.

Does anyone have advice? Should I get a steam cleaner? They were just re-done a couple years ago. Ugh!

just a little lucker here but i had to say i agree about the baked ziti!! i changed it up a bit and used ground turkey instead of the sausage and beef and it was a hit!!! lots of leftovers for everyone's lunches... next time i will split the recipe in two dishes and feeze one.

thanks for all the great recipes!!!:cool1:

Did everyone see the eclipse last night? we went out around 10:15 to take a look--it was beautiful! We could see Saturn too. I thought about taking pictues but it was so cold I did not know if my camera would like it.
Yes, Brendan and I went out several times to look at the different stages of the eclipse. He's into anything that has to do with space and thought it was pretty cool.

Good Morning! I am so far behind but will try to catch up later.

We had a busy day yesterday and then a wake in the evening, then Buddy's aunt fell and broke both shoulders, poor thing! I am taking Kady to lunch with her Meme and then Buddy will take her and a friend to dinner and a movie. I have no idea where I will be...my Aunts or his if they need me.

I'm going to try making Ropa Vieja again tonight. The last time I made it the flavor was wonderful, but the meat was literally like trying to eat ropa vieja aka old clothes. I'm using a London broil instead of flank steak and cooking it on the stove instead of the crock-pot. Crossing my fingers.

I bought a shark steam cleaner. It looks like a canister vac. I love it. I'll look tonight and tell you exactly what it is.

I'm making Cheeseburger soup. That is unless Mr Alex really is sick.

It does make a ton, next time I'm going to just do half. Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Janice! Tom was talking about that. I just mopped again and dried with a towel and it seems to be better just alot of work and I hate getting on my hands and knees...too many years of diving for balls in volleyball has caused some arthritis in my knees. OK, I am rambling!

Can you share the recipe for the soup?

I didn't know Alex was sick...I hope he feels better. I am having a hard time keeping track of all my WFD friends! ;)

I didn't mention it cause sometimes he is Wendy Winer. Though this morning he did look a little off. I'll check his eyes tonight. Since he was little his eyes would tell me if he was getting sick or not. He gets dark rings under his eye.:confused3

This is the steam cleaner I bought.

I'm giving my notice now that I won't be around much from tomorrow through Monday. I am attending a storytelling conference. It's something I do every February, and I love it!!! I get to listen to professional storytellers, and get ideas to help with our elementary school's story telling competition. Plus, I get to use my brain, and as a mother of 4, that is something that I don't get to do a whole lot!

Oooh, I want to go! That was my favorite class in undergrad. I love storytelling and which I was better at it, since I do it weekly!

Tonight's dinner is pork loin. Now I just have to decide which of those great recipes for pork I'm going to use! And then run to the store and buy what I need... DH is playing basketball but I am eating WAY too much fast food this week (eating with kids at lunch and then we had it for dinner a couple of times) so I am fixing a decent meal with or without him.

Afternoon friends.....boy is it good to "see" all of you again...and who said you can't go home again?!!?

Lauren--I hear ya on A's eating.....Ross is the same way, the Dr's think he will be 6'4" as well...he will be 11 in May and he is 4'10"...the thing is I am only 4'11"...and everyone wonders why I wear a 3 inch heel in the snow.............here is a funny story on his eating...This fall we were getting groceries (remember this was during football and he was eating 2x what he normally eats) and I took him shopping with me(big mistake) as the groceries were going through, the bill was already over 200.00 the manager was bagging that day,and I turned to Ross and said, "what am I going to do when you are 16?" The manager pipes up..."Shop here I hope!!"

WENDIE!- Hey Honey! Welcome back to the fold!:cutie:

When that grocery bill gets up there you can send Ross to me! Auntie Lori'll take care of him- if it gets to high for me I can take him to Kathy's (by then Kyle'll be in college) she'll need boy company again! Give the Ross man a big ole hug from me and tell him I hope he feels better!

Dinner's been poopooey here- we're on the road in Michigan through tomorrow. Rick's at the plant and I'm stuck at the hotel playing in the business center. It's 16 degrees outside (versus the 70 something at home)!

Gretchen- I know you'll feel sorry for me- I can't even get my Diet Coke. All they have here is Pepsi and it's too cold to walk to the gas station to get the good stuff!:worship: :rotfl2:

Tonight is Rick's least favorite place, just to torture him..... Cracker Barrel.:lmao: pirate: :lmao:

Thanks again Janice...I'll go check the Shark out.

That is so funny!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am having a diet coke now...I hope CB has them for ya tonight or that yummy cola cake!

Wendie, I missed your post the other day...I am trying hard to try and stay at 150/week for groceries and finding it hard at times...I love the reply from the store manager!!!

I am not sure if I mentioned but I went to see a presentation last week that Andrew's class did. He was the tallest kid and looked so out of place...like he got left back 2 - 3 years!!! All but 2 other kids were very much shorter...he is even taller than the teacher! He is 5'2" and will be 10 on 3/10! :scared1:

Not to mention, they eat lunch at 10:40am so he comes home and has a 2nd lunch!

Nancy, that is horrible! What do they do for broken shoulders?

Honey I don't even think those are livable conditions. Do you need an emergency FedEx of diet coke?

Doesn't that stink?! Brendan starts school at 9:05am and his lunch is at 10:50am! He gets home at 4pm and is starving, but I don't want him to eat a lot because we have dinner at 5:30-6pm. I just can't get used to this new middle school routine. If I was smart I'd have dinner ready when he gets home, but I don't like eating that early.

All this scouting is nice but when it comes down to it, he'll go where he feels most comfortable at and that we feel is a good fit for him, and that could very well be a small local community college.

I am sure he will do well wherever he ends up. You are raising a terrific young man.

And I'm glad to know Caili made it to skating today and to her Annie workshop. It's great that she's feeling better. I saw where you said that she doesn't want to be Annie, but what role does she want?

She is perfectly content to be a chorus orphan. Since I talk about her skating, you may be under the impression that she is an outgoing child, but she is actually very quiet. This workshop is a stretch for her, but that is why I thought it would be good for her to do. She would probably turn bright red if they asked her to say a line though.

Lauren -- Andrew is as tall as I am!

Dinner tonight is going to be baked haddock, baked potatoes, sugar snap peas and maybe eggplant sticks.

ETA -- Nancy, I am so sorry about Buddy's aunt. That is really terrible.

Well, come on over! I'm just really excited about it this year! We've got some wonderful tellers coming to do workshops, etc. My daughter, Katie, has really gotten interested in it in the last couple of years, and last year, she was district finalist in the story telling competition. She's working on her story for this year!

Ross is cracking up....(and I think packing his suitcase), he said that I can save money and he can become a NOLA boy...:lmao: he just told me to tell you that he loves you!!

I can just picture the dramatic face of Rick having to suffer through CB tonight, hehehe......tell him next time to not leave you someplace for the day without your Diet Coke fix!!

Nancy--My goodness, Buddy's poor Aunt!! Prayers said for her. Bless her heart. What can they do when it is both shoulders involved?

Glynis--Have a wonderful time....it sounds like a ton of fun. We have a few things simliar to this in the summer here put on at Colby College (in the summer it becomes different camps for Dr's, teachers etc, and then some sports camps for kids).....I try to do 1 or 2.....they had one last year on storytelling to the learning disabled child....it made a world of difference on how we read to the kids in the classroom I work in.

Kathy--I meant to say the other day how proud I am of you on staying smoke free!!! :woohoo: I know that the past month must have been tough!

As for WFD....not a clue yet.....I had hoped if I rambled on long enough here something would come to mind by the time I had to write it....but that didn't work............I'll go stare in the freezer and see if that helps, if not it might be something with a phone call involved.

Have a good day all!

Geez, I go run a few errands and I come back and find out that Ross is coming to give me a boy fix in a few years!! Come on down baby, we'll have you sucking down some crawfish in no time... :cool1::woohoo:

Wendie - be warned once Lori & I get him down here we may not let go!;)

Y'all grow em big up there!!:rotfl2: Lauren, he's going to be huge!

Hey Y'all,

Wow you guys have been chatty! There is no way I'll be able to catch up! Do y'all know I had to go back to page 68 to find my last post, which was only one week!

We got in late Tuesday night. Both of us were totally exhausted. We thought it was from pushing ourselves on the trip, but now we're both sniffling & coughing too. Bob went back to work today, but he's really not feeling well. Thank goodness I didn't have to pick Alexis from school yesterday or have her this morning as planned. Her Daddy hurt his back at work, so he will be off work for another few days. Bad for him, but saved me!

Our trip was good. We had great weather for almost the whole trip, just a bit of rain on Monday. We did MGM that day, so didn't bother us much. The temps were perfect! The race was great, but gosh the Daytona track is huge & getting 200,000 people in & out of there was crazy! Getting around inside the track was difficult too. Lots of walking that gave Mom & me a hard time. It was a great experience but not something I'd want to do every year.

Saratoga Springs was nice, but I wouldn't want to stay there without a car. It's very spread out. We had some great food & Mom enjoyed the trip a lot! Raglan Road's food was awesome! A real surprise! Jiko was great as usual too! I'll post some pics for y'all later!

I expected to come home to a mess & not being able to use the bedroom. But my dear dear contractor Mario had the room totally finished when we came home. He even made the bed & dusted the room!!!!! How cool is that!

Sheryl

Welcome back Sheryl!!!!!! Glad to hear you had a great time and how sweet is Mario....:lovestruc .

Can't wait to hear more and see your pics, hope you & Bob aren't getting the nasty bug that's going around.

I'm leaving tomorow morning for Houston for the baseball tournament so I'll be MIA for a few days.
