What's for Dinner Tonight? (recipe index in OP)

Yeah, I know. I thought for a few days this month that I was, but no such luck. Oh well. Alan and I have decided to try for another couple of months, and then revisit the whole issue. If it's meant to be, it will be. If not, I have 4 beautiful children, and I can be happy with them!

That is what we are thinking as well...

Aimee-- Glad you have been having such a great trip.

Kathy -- Your boy is so handsome. I love the baseball photo.

Sheryl -- Your pizza looked great, even the blob one, and of course, Alexis is adorable. When they are cute like that, they get away with a lot more.

Glynis -- I wish the best for your niece. And for you. I'm sure everything will work out as it should.

Dinner tonight was pasta with marinara sauce, sausage (mostly for DS), bread and salad.

I figured out the multi quote!! I'm so proud of myself. :cool1:

Well, we survived yesterday evening with the nieces and nephews. 2 more days and then they'll leave!!! They all stayed up really late last night, so I'm thinking that naps are going to be in order this afternoon.

Dinner tonight will be tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm going to use sharp cheddar and granny smith apples on the sandwiches.

I'm so glad you survived - and hopefully your house is still in tact?

Thanks for the kind words about my boy.:goodvibes

What great pics those are of him!!! He is very handsome.

Did I mention that he just bought me tickets to see Gone With the Wind in London? The reason? Hugh Jackman (my number 1 grown up crush) is playing Rhett Butler. So, I get to see Hugh, my husband won't be there to interfere, and that's my anniversary present. Guess he can be taught, huh?

Are you giving lessons if I send mine your way?

I'm now asking for some major PD for my niece, Lydia. She is 17 years old and pregnant. She and her boyfriend realize that marriage would be terrible for both of them. They made the decision to place the baby up for adoption, but his parents are trying to talk them out of it. They don't want to raise the baby, they want Lydia and Brandon to get married and keep the baby. We are all praying that the parents will just stay out of it so the baby can go to a home where she will be loved, wanted and treated well. Any prayers and pixie dust you can send our way would be appreciated!

:grouphug:

Tonight is my last night in Atlanta and it's been an incredible experience. I'm so thankful I came, though getting news from the office has been hard to hear. We fly back to reality tomorrow. :sad1:

Tonight I heard Bill Clinton - he had great (non political) things to say. ALL the speakers kept politics out of it which was so nice, esp with all the campaigning going on. Clinton looks very tired, and is showing his age, but was very eloquent and brought me to my feet several times. Carter spoke again as well, giving his testimony. He is the co-creator of the event so he spoke a lot and he and Rosalynn sat on the front row each night. She is the epitome of class, IMO.

We ate at McCormick and Schmick's seafood for dinner #1 - I had swordfish stuffed with blue crab, bacon, and roasted red peppers. DELISH! That was at 530 so when we got out at 1030, we went and got chicken wings at a sports bar as a snack. It's after midnight and I just finished those off. I like this 4th meal thing =)

We are going to Atlanta today with the Smitten Kitten's and Scott's cousin Danny. He is leaving for the Navy soon and wanted us to go out with him. We are going to Ted's Montana Grill. I've never been to one before so this should be an experience (on many levels, oy).

WFD at your house?

ETA: Ok you guys, I did a bad bad thing. I was watching Everyday Italian the other day. Giada made a roasted pork loin and topped it with a sauce made with port and dried figs. Intrigued, I thought I would make it someday. I needed to stop by the liquor store to get some cooking wine anyway, so I picked up a bottle of port. When we got home, curiosity got the better of me and I uncorked the port and got a taste.

Oh.

My.

Word.

This stuff is going to be the death of me. It is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!!

Lindsay Be careful with sweet wines and drinks. I think the sugar hides the punch that follows. ;) I hope you can have a fun in Atlanta.

Aimee I'm glad you had a good experience in Atlanta. It sounds like you had dynamic speakers. I admire the Carters.

Today I'm going to take inventory of my freezer items and try to put together some meals. Wish me luck. This is what happens when I don't have a lot to do, I get organized.:confused3

Morning!

I just typed this whole long thing and my internet went down!

Aimee, What great seminars you have been attending! We love M&S's! Whagt did you decide to do for Lipstick Jungle? I will be watching...I just learned that Andrew McCarthy is in it!

Lindsay, Have fun today! Is all OK with the SK's? Enjoy the port! HAve you tried Rosa Regale yet?

No idea what dinner will be...out or take out.

A had a great time at the game...sat in a box and had catered food and got to go behind the scenes...I think he likes hockey now!

Have a great day!

Listen to Janice..................that sweet wine seems to creep up on you :rotfl:. We visit with couple in the next town who farm as well. She is....shall we say .....earthy and a little loud on a good day. Every night she has her glass of port and her "spirit" gets looser. Well, if we stop by she has a few more than her one glass and she looses all control over what comes out of her mouth. My poor DH can't decide how much to laugh and how embarrassed he should be :lmao:Often he is the brunt of her "observations" :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Aimee- I am so jealous! I'm glad that your conference was so successful!

Glynis and Lauren- :grouphug:. One of the things that Buddy and I regret is not having a child of our own, but we left in in His hands and know that there must be a reason. Now is mother is not of the same mind....you know the name and the blood thing she is hung up on........

Janice- When I don't have a lot to do I read. I'll do just about anything to keep out of my messy cabinets, closets and freezer!

I don't know what we are going to do for dinner tonight. My shift at my Aunt's is 5 to 7 so that is not convenient for any meal here. I don't know what we are going to do, she has slipped in and out of dementia so much this last three weeks. There is a family issue here as well and it is not looking pretty. Anyway, if you can spare a prayer for a lovely lady I would appreciate it.

Lauren - I'd like hockey too if I were able to watch it from the catered box. ;)

Kathy - Great pics of your boy! And I'm glad to hear he has such a caring friend to help him through the Abi breakup. I'm sure she had nothing but sincere motives and the budding romance was never on her mind. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: But nothing like a new girl to make him forget the old girl.

I didn't know the Stepson was thinking adoption, but it certainly sounds like the best thing. I hope they will make the right decision.

Glynis - I hope your niece makes the right decision too. I can tell you from experience - I worked in a law office when I was much, much younger and we did some private adoptions - that the absolute joy these babies bring to a loving couple is indescribable. We never did an adoption that didn't bring us all to tears.

Nancy - Glad to see Buddy is getting his weekly sandwich quota. I wish Kenny were so easy to please. But he is getting downright high maintenance. Although since he was living on fast food when we got married, I think I created this monster.

Sheryl - Love the pizza photos. Call me crazy, but I think the blob one looked delish.

Wendie - I have no words for your MiL. None I can put here anyway. I'm proud of you for not responding too. I'm trying to be more like that myself, and wow is it hard. And, for the record, I agree with everyone else - you need to eat. I know you don't really want to, but you need to. If I were there, I'd make several batches of comfort food, southern style. However, I recommend baked mac and cheese and fried chicken (Kathy would have to make that, I'm still not a good fried chicken girl); or country fried steak with gravy and rice. Nothing like fat and carbs to provide comfort. Can you see where these extra pounds came from?

Janice - Glad to see you defeated the paperwork monster this week. Enjoy your weekend.

Lindsay - I'm glad to see you feel better. Have fun today.

Tonight we are going to my mother's for dinner. Actually, Dad is doing most of the cooking - hamburgers on the grill. Simple, but one of my favorites. And it means we get dinner and I don't have to cook it. Again, one of my favorites.

Back to work.

Nancy, you posted this while I was writing my post. I'll be praying for both of you lovely ladies.

Kathy -- Your boy is so handsome. I love the baseball photo.

Thanks Laura, I knew you'd like the baseball one.

Aimee - I think the Carter's are wonderful classy folks too. You've been very lucky to have heard the great speakers you've heard.:thumbsup2

Dementia is difficult enough, much less a family issue. Prayers offered.

Thanks Gretchen. I didn't really want to see him jump right into another relationship, BUT he's happy and that's what counts.:goodvibes

Stepson and his GF aren't seriously considering adoption, they never do the right thing. Johnny & I still keep trying to put the option out there.

You are so right on about our friend Wendie!!!!!!!! In fact I'm cooking country fried steak and gravy, mashed potatoes and turnip greens today and if I were closer I'd take some to her and feed her.:rotfl:

Here are some photos from last night. First, a cocktail. It is a fake margarita, using limeade concentrate and light beer instead of fresh lime juice, plus tequila. I was trying to come up with a lighter margartia that my inlaws would like. DH thought it was good, I thought it was just OK. I have not decided whether to serve it Sunday or not.

Then, dinner. Here is DH's plate--mustard coated roast pork, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. Comfort food:

And, just because I felt like it, here is my plate. Yes, those are chicken fingers, and honey mustard to dip it in! It's my seven year old kid dinner! :rotfl:

Not sure wfd yet--we are supposed to go into the city to see U23D and then go out someplace...we'll see.

I will get caught up on the thread later, right now I have to go and start my super bowl menu prep! Did everyone post what they are making? Here's my menu:

buffalo chicken dip
guacamole
lemon-thyme marinated chicken skewers with peanut dipping sauce
queso dip
vegetarian egg rolls
chicken-vegetable potstickers
filo cups stuffed with asian-style beef salad
spinach-artichoke dip
garlic and breadcrumb marinated shrimp skewers
parmesean-stuffed bacon wrapped dates on skewers
mini-linguica sausages, rolled in brown sugar, wrapped in puff pastry, baked and skewered
mini pancakes topped with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and chives
filo cups with tuna avocado tartar
potato skins

I am making too much food. AGAIN! :upsidedow

Thank you all for the prayers.

Does anyone have the recipe for the chicken nachos cooked in the Crockpot? I think they are lime chicken.
I promise, if Webmaster Alex gives us back the thread even for two days, I will copy and paste all of the recipes, just like I started. I miss my page one :guilty:

Becky - Your menu sounds great! I'm not nearly as ambitious:

Hot Wings
Tacos/Nachos
Guacamole
Margaritas

Sorry Nan, that's one I don't have.

I thought we were going to get the thread back??????

Lindsay - Have you heard anything? Can you contact him and ask if we could have it back just for a day or two? I'm sure we could get them all copied in one day.

Actually my DH is a bit of a pill about his food lately. For a man who lived on hot dogs and spaghetti with a jar of sauce he has gotten picky. He won't refuse dunner, he was brought to to eat what is served but he will feel the need to tell me the things he likes.......can't seem to help himself :rotfl2: He is always happy if I feed him a sandwich, especially if I pick up cold cuts that I generally won't let him have.

Wendie- listen to Kathy and Gretchen. If you don't eat you are going to get sick.

Oh Kathy that is my dream meal! I love country fried steak but us Northern Gals don't get it often!

Holy Macaroni! Your dinner sounds awesome!

Sorry Nan, that's one I don't have.

I thought we were going to get the thread back??????

I hope that he gives it back even for a few days. I was lazy about the recipes because they were so easy to access.

I usually do a big Super Bowl thing here and we start early, but this year I just don't feel like it. Buddy has requested...........tuna sandwiches............ He said he would be very happy if I made that for him. I am actually craving KFC! We never have it because it is so bad for you but I love it a lot! I don't know, I have to put some thought into it.

Nancy that was one of Glynis' recipes, I didn't get that one copied and pasted

I think I read we will get it back sometime next week. I found it on the tech board.

I thought that it was. I went to her website but it was not there. I'll check back to see if she stops by.

I thought that I saw somewhere that we would get them back, I sure hope so.

Hi!

Nancy, Prayers for your Aunt.

As far as super bowl food, we are having:

pepperoni/mozz stuffed bread
sausage, pepper and onion heros
chicken tenders and dippin stuff
chips and dip

I just asked Tom what he wanted to drink and he said whatever we have here, so it will be vodka and mixers.

We just ordered our stone veneer for the fireplace. This is what we picked (weather ledge prestige color):

http://www.dutchqualitystone.com/gallery.php

They do not have the pic of the fireplace on the website but I'll take pics along the way of our progress.

WFD- tonight we are having baked chicken wings, orange marmalade carrots and rice pilaf. Keeping it simple, been cooking all day for super bowl.

This is a huge day in our house, we are Patriots season ticket holders!

Super Bowl Eats include-
Buffalo Wings
Cheddar & Bacon Potato Skins
Sweet & Sour Kielbasa
English Muffin Crabbies
Homemade Macaroni Salad
Homemade Potato Salad
Chips
D'Angelo Sandwich Platter (:confused3 DH & DSS tradition!)
White Chocolate & Pecan Bars
Peanut Butter Bars
Banana Bread w/ cream cheese

:cheer2: GO PATRIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2:

Mrs. Disney Ron

Is there any word on whether the other thread, or at least the recipes, will be back or not?

I don't post in often at all but sure do use and love the recipes.

I actually wondered also if any of you have the Italian Chicken Recipe that is for the slow cooker. I know it has Chive Cream cheese, Italian dressing packets, and Golden Mushroom soup in it.

Thanks Ladies :)
