The food of Belgium!?You know chocolate and beer? Belgium's is the best.

Hmm. Now you have me thinking I need to get a cookbook about Belgian food. I don't know that there is a real specialty here. Our favorite restaurant here is Italian. We don't go out to eat much, as the dollar is so poor. I do know that there are a lot of fritteries (french fry places) and mussels seem to be very popular.
A quick morning check in......I have to do my grams bills today and run some errands for ourselves as well. Trying to get some stuff done as it looks like we are in for some Icy weather mid week....argh!!!
Sheryl--Thank you!!
Supper will be something with boneless pork chops as that is what I took out of the freezer this morning.....not sure how I am cooking them,
or what is going with them.........
Have a great day all!!

Becky posted the recipe a couple of days ago. I thought I saved but apparently not. I'll go hunt for it & post it again.
Lindsay, That is going to be hard to do without the gravy mix! You could try Lauren's suggestion of onion soup, bouillion & corn starch. Maybe that would work.![]()
I'm with Kathy, beans & rice Monday. But I think I'm going to do Cuban Black Beans & a spanish rice today.
Tonight we had Chicken curry and it was BLAH BLAH BLAH! I used a mix (sorry!) and was totally unprepared for dinner time to come. I've had a stomach thing going on for almost a week and tomorrow I am going with dd4's class on a Field trip to Disneyland Paris.![]()
Anyway, we also had the Apple Dumplings from The Pioneer Woman website. They are so bad for you but YUMMY and EASY. DD4 helped make them.![]()
http://thepioneerwomancooks.com/
Apple Dumplings
2 Granny Smith apples
2 cans crescent rolls
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoons vanilla
cinnamon
1 small can Mountain Dew
Peel and core apples. Cut apples into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan. Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir, and pour over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.
Really not a low-cal recipe is it!But it sure sounds like one my niece (the mini iron chef) would love making! Thanks!

No, it's not good for you, but I figure if you only have ONE piece, it's better for you than apple pie.![]()
Hi everyone!
I know I have been MIA the past couple of days, but I have FINALLY read through what I've missed. I can't possibly remember everyone, but I really wanted to tell Nancy how sorry I am about Buddy's aunt and to let Wendie know I think of her and say a prayer for her almost every day.
I had good intentions to catch up this weekend, but we are getting the roof replaced on our house and the crew was working on Saturday and Sunday. I could not believe how loud it was, and Hailey was just beside herself - holding her ears and moaning. Needless to say, she and I got out of there. We spent most of the weekend at my parents' house, which was really relaxing, but I didn't get anything done that I needed to (including catching up here - they don't own a computer if you can believe it). Hopefully the roof will be fixed by this Sunday, so only two weekends will be lost.
Tonight's dinner is baked mustard pork chops with brie, a rice pilaf and some sort of veggie.
I'll try to keep up better. I've missed you guys.
Gretchen, Poor you & Hailey!Glad you got out & relaxed at your parent's house! Those pork chops sound great! If they come out as good as they sound, would you post the recipe? (No rush, whenever you can get to it.)
I know what you mean. Everytime I buy an avocado or mango it usually takes about a week for it to get ripe, sometimes longer for a mango. I wish I knew someone who had trees. A friend of mine had a mango tree and I didn't know about it until they had it cut down. They never ate them, just picked them off the ground and threw them away.Gretchen, Poor you & Hailey!Glad you got out & relaxed at your parent's house! Those pork chops sound great! WFDT, I've decided to do Cuban Black Beans with chorizo , white or saffron rice & some kind of island slaw maybe. Gotta run to the grocery now, be good if they had ripe mangos & avocados but I'm sure I won't be that lucky!
