You gals are going to make me Google Red Snappers and open a bottle of wine!!

Wendie, you're more than welcome to drive to NJ...it's cold but not snowing...well, we had flurries this afternoon and about an inch last night but its almost gone now.

Thats a nice Saturday ritual. Do you cook the red snappers and beans together? Do you put them on the biscuit? Between you and Nancy, now I want a hot dog.

Thanks for the offer my friend......I would take you up on it but I can't get out of my driveway..........I would offer for you to come join us for our Sat. night supper....BUT......I love your friendship too much, lol!!..............The red Snappah's...cook with the beans and you dip the biscuits in the beans, mmmmmm!!

Kathy--I do not blame you at all for being upset......That is totally wrong and I feel awful that Kyle felt the pressure to play today.....have him ice/and heat his back tonight...he is going to be pretty sore in the morning.....it is always better to miss one game then push to play and then miss 2 or more.

Here's where you can buy some red snappy hotdogs!!

Guess that doesn't work... www.beansmeats.com... does that work??

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have never cooked hot dogs that way...gotta try it. We do not have the red snappah's here but I love hot dogs in the natural casing. They crunch!

I could tell from the first pitch he was in pain, but what do I know I'm just a MOM.......sorry for the rant. Hopefully someone learned a lesson from this.:sad1:

That must have been so frustrating for you. I hope Kyle feels okay in the morning. Why does no one listen to the moms?

Right now I'm having wine (cheers Wendie!:thumbsup2 )

Me too! We ate a little early today because the kids are having a Game Night and sundaes with the neighbors.

I ended up making black bean and cheese burritos. Liam was happy. Caili had grilled cheese instead.

I made bbq chicken, macaroni 'n cheese, and green beans for dinner. Not at all fancy, but it totally hit the spot.

I'll have to come back later and catch up on everything.

Have you tried my recipe that Kathy is using tomorrow? Ya know, I wrote out the recipe as I made the "gravy" last time and do not even have a copy to share since it was in the original thread...I think Kat may be able to post it for me...;)

Kathy- can you post it? i am sick of frozen meatballs, mine taste good but you gotta get them before the break up :upsidedow

I am so MAD I could throw my laptop across the room. KYLE told the coach his back felt great......coach said great, get in there and pitch.....they rocked him. This is just so wrong in so many ways. I don't care about the stupid game, I'm concerned about my son's future. Kyle will do and say anything to get in the game, he'd been pressured all week. I threw a fit, Johnny & the coach told me, he'll be fine, we'll pull him if he starts hurting. I could tell from the first pitch he was in pain, but what do I know I'm just a MOM.......sorry for the rant. Hopefully someone learned a lesson from this.:sad1:

Kathy- my sister used to get so mad because Debbie would play even though she had injuries. The difference between high school and college sports is the physical therapists available. Once the girls hit college the attention was like night and day. The coaches only see the winning, not what happens to the kid becasue he did not heal

Hi my friends!!!

Right now I'm having wine (cheers Wendie!:thumbsup2 ) but I will be having cream cheese mashed potatoes and baked stuffed haddock with whole green beans.

How has everyone been????

I saw your post on another thread and had to open a bottle of Pinot Noir. DH and I are going to finish the bottle before the end of the evening. I will probably have to take one for the team and have that last glass.......

I eye ball everything.....

mixture of pork & beef
eggs
bread crumbs
sauteed garlic on onions so small DH doesn't see them
chopped fresh parsley
Romano cheese
ground pepper
tiny bit of salt
tiny pinch of oregano

If I think it looks to dry...a drop of water & I brown them before they go into the sauce....

I use basically the same ingredients, they just fall apart and I end up with mighty tasty meat sauce.

Oh Wendie, now I want hot dogs and beans! I'll put it on my menu for Thursday night. Dan is off and he loves this meal, DH hates beans so if I am in a bad mood that's all I will cook, if he makes me smile I'll cook sauerkraut with it. I made some with turkey bacon so it was much lower in bad fat. I have been trying to modify those old recipes that he remembers because he has high cholesterol and does not react well to the medication. We had a "Come to Jesus" meeting and he is on the program, not happy, but eating his whole grains and avoiding the "good stuff".

You gals are going to make me Google Red Snappers and open a bottle of wine!!

Just wait until they break out the Rosa Regale! Those NOLA gals know how to live :thumbsup2

Look up "natural casing hot dogs"... but you won't want to try them if you do.... :lmao:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Thursday is another night that bean suppers have always been popular here in Maine as well....What Buddy needs to remember is that it could be worse then whole grains....it could be capers and such..and even though Mr Buddy would disagree...you can't eat Tuna everynight, :lmao: .....my grams bean recipe that I use has instead of saltpork, a stick of butter which in the long run is much better, but still bad....but ohhhhhh soooo goooood! She also puts an onion in it that is taken out after, and cut up and eaten on the side with the dogs, mmmm....supper was goooood!!

Speaking of Rosa Dh and I are having a bottle of that after Ross is in bed..which is in about 10 min.................I figure that wine is cheaper then oil and warms you up the same:rotfl: ......maybe better.....;) .

Neverenough----once you have a red snapper....your hotdog eating life will never be the same....They are also good boiled (don't freak when the water turns pink) and steamed on a roll!!!:goodvibes

;) Works that way here as well :thumbsup2

I am so happy I found this thread...

the wine is flowing and I am on the Dis.....wow sometimes life is 100% delicious, especaily with a buzz~

Hi Y'all,

Just back from our local fest & a visit to a new local dessert/beignet shop. So there will be no cooking nor anymore eating here tonight! ( There will be wine though!)

We picked up my Mom & met up with DD & SIL at the festival. We had really nice weather here today, high of 73 and breezy. So it was really nice to get out with family & enjoy some music, all helping local police/fire dept. The only food they had out there was pizza & jambalaya, so we went looking for something else to eat, & ending up with beignets!

(Kathy, have you been to Parrot Pete's on Manhattan yet? Good beignets, & some really great looking pastries & desserts! We'll be back to try those soon! )

Janice & Wendie, Thanks for commiserating with me on the handicap parking incident. Nice thing do happen though, today we had to park on the street & put the ramp down right into the street. But the police walked over & stopped traffic so Bob could get out safely. Nice! :goodvibes

Wendie, Glad you're head is feeling better! But I'm sorry about all the snow! Stay inside warm & safe!

Thanks for all the kudo's on the grouper!

Laura, sorry I made you crave fish, you should have headed over to Becky's to nab some of her yummy fish!

I doubt mine holds a candle to Beck's crunchy coconut fish! :thumbsup2

Becky, I hope you like the greek burgers. Sorry, I don't think I remembered to mention that I propably added more seasoning than the recipe called for!
Your hummus recipe sounds good! My recipe is almost exactly the same but without the parsley. I'll have to add that next time! I will try the Mario potato bud recipe too. I agree so far every one of his recipes I've done as turned out wonderful! I love his ribolita soup & his neapolitan meatball recipe is the one I always go to for meatballs.

Nancy, I'll post that meatball recipe for you, when I finish with all the chatting. They are so good!

Becky, Thanks for the Anne & Mary Bolyn info too! I love all of that historic stuff, just don't make enough time for it.
Glad to hear you're headed back to St. John soon!! I know you can't wait! :goodvibes

Hi Loreli! Good to around! :goodvibes

Lauren, I hope you like the Clos du Bois chard. I don't know if you like the buttery, velvety type of chardonnay, but another really good one is Merryvale. More expensive (about $18-20) but a really good quality wine for the price.

Kathy, I'd be worried about Kyle's back too! With the Coach & everyone else pushing him to play & his wanting to be in the game, he could really hurt himself. I'd have a talk with Johnny about it! Call me if you need to talk!

Hope I didn't miss anyone, I get out of the house one day & there is pages of chat to catch up on!:)

Becky- DO you remember what Anne Boleyn was beheaded for? The movie seemed to take license and I was wondering if they exaggerated her treason. The movie had her and her brother beheaded for treason and incest after she lost a baby.

Nancy, Here's my go to recipe for meatballs! As Becky mentioned if it's Mario Batali's it's going to be good! I've made them without the pine-nuts without if affecting the taste. I have tried it with ground pork sausage, but liked it best with just the ground meat (I used ground round). They are so light & moist. I didn't have any trouble with them falling apart, just make sure you squeeze out most of the water from the bread.

Now, I'm off to watch a dvd & for that glass of wine! Someone mentioned pinot noir. That sounds good! Have a good evening y'all!

Neapolitan Meatballs: Polpette alla Napoletana Recipe Mario Batali.

3 cups day-old bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 1/4 pounds ground beef
3 eggs, beaten
3 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup pecorino, grated
1 bunch Italian parsley, finely chopped to yield 14 cup
1/4 cup pine nuts, toasted for 2 minutes in a 400 degree F oven
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

In a shallow bowl, soak the bread cubes in enough water to cover. Remove the bread cubes and squeeze by hand to wring excess moisture.
In a large bowl, combine the bread, beef, eggs, garlic, pecorino, parsley, pine nuts, salt, and pepper and mix by hand to incorporate bread into meat. With wet hands, form the mixture into 12 to 15 meatballs, each of a size somewhere between a tennis ball and a golf ball.

In a large, heavy-bottomed skillet, heat the oil until almost smoking. Add the meatballs, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan, and cook until deep golden brown on all sides, about 10 minutes per batch. Serve warm or at room temperature, note that Italians would rarely serve meatballs with pasta.

YUMM!

I had Pinot Noir tonight, it is a favorite of mine. You pictured a bottle of wine earlier but I could not see the label. I admit that I choose wine by the name and by the shape of the bottle :guilty:, and I liked that one :upsidedow
