What's Everyone Making for Christmas Morning?

Can anyone post their hashbrown casserole, please.

Everything sounds so good. I'm going to have to try some of ya'll recipes.

2lb bag of shredded hasbrowns
1/2 cup melted butter
1 can cream of mushroon soup (or celery, or chicken)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 pint sour cream
1 small onion, diced
salt and pepper to taste

Mix above together and put in baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. Cook in a 350 oven for about 45 minutes.

ETA: This makes a huge batch so feel free to half the ingredients.

Thanks so much!!! :thumbsup2 Do the onions soften up a bit or do they stay kinda crunchy? I have a picky DH & DD, I need them to be hidden ;)

I mince mine up so they aren't too noticable, however, you might get a "crunch" now and then. Feel free to leave them out. I have done that before when I didn't have any onion in the house and you couldn't even tell the difference.

This is my monkey bread recipe. I do the biscuits the night before, then make the butter/sugar syrup the morning of and bake. There are tons of different recipes for monkey bread but they're all good.

4 tubes refrigerated biscuit dough
3/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup white sugar

Mix together 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon and put in large Ziploc bag. Cut biscuits into 4 pieces. Add a handful of biscuit pieces to Ziploc bag and shake until well coated. Place biscuits into greased bundt pan. Repeat until you've used all the biscuits and all the sugare. Melt butter and add 3/4 cup sugar, cook until bubbly and sugar is dissolved. Pour mixture over biscuits. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.

We have monkey bread every Christmas morning. It's been a tradition ever since I was a little girl, except back then my mom made it the old fashioned way making her own dough. I make it with the refrigerated biscuit dough though!
:goodvibes

for pretty much all occasions we have cinnamon rolls, but this year i am making them entirely from scratch (i learned how to make bread from scratch this year, i am loving it)

and usually sausage gravy with bisquits and eggs, but i havent asked everyone what they wanna do this year

we always have a hashbrown casserole and i add some cooked crumbled sausage meat and top it with cheese in the oven, we dont add eggs, but you can add some cooked scrambled eggs also...like a skillet meal mmmmmmmmmmmm

my grandmother makes coffeecake the day or so before Christmas and we have that and coffee/tea/juice while opening presents.

Then we have a big breakfast later with eggs and toast, bacon and/or sausage, hash browns and mimosa's.

We have Cinnamon Roll French Toast every Christmas. It is the only thing my DH and DS can agree on!! Soo good! I only make it on Christmas morning, so it makes it extra special!

Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bake

1/4 cup Butter, melted
2 cans (12.4 oz each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
6 eggs
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup Chopped Pecans *optional*
1 cup maple syrup

Topping

Icing from cinnamon rolls
Powdered sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup, if desired

DIRECTIONS

1. Heat oven to 375°F. Pour melted butter into ungreased 13x9-inch baking dish. Separate both cans of dough into 16 rolls; set icing aside. Cut each roll into 8 pieces; place pieces over butter in dish.

2. In medium bowl, beat eggs. Beat in cream, cinnamon and vanilla; gently pour over roll pieces. *Sprinkle with pecans*; drizzle with 1 cup syrup.

3. Bake 20 to 28 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 15 minutes. Meanwhile, remove covers from icing; microwave 10 to 15 seconds or until thin enough to drizzle.

4. Drizzle icing over top; sprinkle with powdered sugar. Spoon syrup over individual servings.

We have never had a tradition but after reading about all these yummy ones I think I may start this year!

Growing up we never had a big breakfast. My parents would make the box blueberry muffins or something and that was it. We always had to be up early, open gifts, get to mass then be at my grandparents by 12 and they lived an hour away. It always felt so rushed and we never got to enjoy our presents till the next day.

I don't have to rush now with my family but for some reason never made anything "special". We would have a regular breakfast but this year I'm going to have everyone vote on what to make based off the ideas I got on here, thanks!

what kind of biscuit dough do you use? I want to do these this year :). Tia!

Here we usually have toast or cereal, as the dinner will be the main thing:goodvibes

My family loves this, especially on Christmas Morning!
And, the best thing is that you can make it the night before & then pop it in the oven in the morning!

Praline Baked French Toast
6 tablespoons Butter
1 cup Light Brown Sugar
2 tablespoons Light Corn Syrup
1/2 cup chopped Pecans
2 Eggs, plus 3 Egg Whites
1 cup Orange Juice
1/4 cup Sugar
1/3 cup Milk
1 teaspoon grated Orange Rind
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 (16 oz) loaf French Bread, cut into 12 to 15 (1 inch) slices

In a microwaveable dish, combine butter, brown sugar & corn syrup. Microwave until the butter has melted & the brown sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute. Pour the mixture into an ungreased 3 quart oblong baking dish or a 13 x 9 inch pan. Sprinkle with pecans.
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg whites, orange juice, sugar, milk, orange rind, cinnamon & vanilla.
Arrange the bread slices over the brown sugar mixture & pecans in the dish. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices. Cover & refrigerate for at least 4 hours to overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Bake for about 30 minutes or until toasty. Serve immediately, each piece with some of the praline sauce that forms on the bottom of the dish.

When I make monkeybread, I use the pillsbury canned biscuits that come in the 4 cans of 10 in the blue wrapper. You can use really any kind of biscuit dough you want. Its a really easy put together. I usually add some light cornsyrup or maplesyrup and chopped pecans to the melted butter and sugar mixture and pour it over the entire thing and bake as directed. When you turn the whole thing onto a plate after its baked, the thick syrupy gooey stuff flows through the bread..YUM!

We will be doing Lobster Eggs Benedict this Christmas. More work then I really wanted to do, but my mother requested it. Maybe just a fresh fruit salad on the side.

I see you're in CT too.. What time shall I be there. I will bring the fruit salad if you'd like. I LOVE eggs benedict and when I saw there was lobster involved also......MMMMMMM

We've never done a "special" breakfast on Christmas morning. After gifts were done the boys always played around with their favorite toy for a while as I cleaned up and DH put things together or installed a bazillion batteries. Then when the boys wanted to, they had a bowl of cereal or bagel. But reading this thread has got my mind going. I think I just might make a thing or two or three or four. LOL Thing is.....I don't think ANYONE in this household would agree on one thing. We all like different things. DH would probably want the basic breakfast (eggs, toast, bacon) DS14 likes muffins, cereals, pancakes, DS12 likes chocolate chip pancakes, cereal, bagels. And I would LOVE to eat any one of these dishes that have been mentioned. I'm all about the breakfast casseroles or french toast casseroles, etc. I think I'll run it by them and see if they can agree on something. I will probably make a monkey bread though (that I know everyone would like) but DH would want something else along with it since it's NOT a traditional breakfast.....yeah, he's a pain in my butt!!! LOL
