What's Everyone Making for Christmas Morning?

I make "homemade" cinnamon rolls. They taste/look like homemade, but they're from frozen bread dough and are wonderful. I also make the overnight egg strata that's already been mentioned.

Cinnamon Rolls
1 1-lb. loaf frozen bread dough
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1½ T. ground cinnamon
4 T. butter or margarine
2 T cream cheese, softened
2 T butter, softened
3/4 c. confectioners' sugar
1/4 t. vanilla extract
1/8 t. salt

Mix cinnamon and brown sugar in a bowl. Set aside. Roll dough into about a 10 X 14 inch rectangle. Spread dough with 4 T. butter and sprinkle evenly with sugar/cinnamon mixture.

Roll up dough and cut into 8 rolls. Place rolls in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes (or you can cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight – remove from fridge in the morning and then allow to rise).

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake rolls in preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 minutes. While rolls are baking, beat together cream cheese, 2 T butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Spread frosting on warm rolls before serving.

We will be doing Lobster Eggs Benedict this Christmas. More work then I really wanted to do, but my mother requested it. Maybe just a fresh fruit salad on the side.

I'm making French Toast Loaf from the Main Street Bakery's recipe and some bacon to go with it. I will make the loaf the night before and cook it (about an hour) while we open gifts.

Hashbrown Casserole and Peaches n' Cream French Toast. Both are a make the night before and cook in the morning.

Could you share your sausage egg casserole recipe?

1 cup Original Bisquick® mix
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 ounces)
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
6 eggs, slightly beaten
1 pound bulk pork sausage, cooked and drained

1. Mix all ingredients in large bowl. Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours but no longer than 24 hours.
2. Heat oven to 350ºF. Grease 2-quart casserole. Pour egg mixture into casserole.
3. Bake uncovered about 1 hour or until knife inserted in center comes out clean

Usually I just open a box of donuts, but this year I am trying some of the things I read about on here.

MMMMM....can you post the recipe?

Thanks!

You are welcome! I got this from Allears.net. Since they don't make it anymore at WDW, I was thinking it wasn't on Deb's site anymore. They have a lot of recipes from WDW dining! (Don't curse me, this is definitely not "healthy dining", but it tastes soooo good!) Enjoy!

Recipe
French Toast Loaf

Main Street Bake Shop
Magic Kingdom

YIELD: 1 Loaf

Ingredients:

12 slices day-old white bread (preferably a homestyle white, not Wonder Bread
type)

8 oz. butter (chilled and sliced)

Brown sugar batch:

9 oz, light brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and set aside.

Batter:

10 oz. heavy cream
4 large eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and refrigerate until ready to use.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Method:

Liberally spray a loaf pan with Pam or other vegetable spray. Layer three slices day old bread on bottom of pan. Sprinkle 1/3 brown sugar mixture on top of bread, then layer 1/3 of the butter. Repeat these steps two more times. Top off with three more slices of bread (should have a total of 12 slices of bread). Press down with hand to compact bread into loaf pan.

Slowly pour 16 oz. of batter over top of loaf, covering completely. This may take a little time, to allow it to fully absorb into bread and flow into spaces at bottom. (Take
your time here and pour into corners. Lift bread at corners a little to get into bottom quicker if you want.)

Place loaf pan on some paper towel in case of overflow. Cover top of loaf with parchment paper and wrap top tightly with aluminum foil. Place in refrigerator and allow to sit overnight.

Heat oven to 325º F. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until internal temperature in center of loaf is 160 degrees. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Place a plate on top of loaf pan and invert to remove from pan. Cut into 7 slices and serve.

I use day old Italian or French Loaf from Krogers or Walmart. (not the crunchy baguette.)

That sounds wonderful!!!!! Love Main Street Bakeries cinnamon rolls! Was just thinking I'd love to make some Crystal Palace Breakfast Lasagna.....then I looked up the recipe........it appears to be a lot of work.

I usually do a pan of baked french toast that sits overnight. Usually I add maple syrup, cinnamon, pecans, cream cheese and brown sugar to it before I bake it.

I think this year we will be having pigs in a blanket--can biscuits rolled around a sausage link and baked. Maybe I'll have to find a good casserole, one with cornbread sounds good. I make a corndog casserole for dinner sometimes...maybe I can adjust for a breakfast type casserole with the cornbread mix. Im on the hunt:upsidedow

I never had the Main Street Bakery's FTL, but this is so delicious! And it's very easy to make. I am thinking of trying to put walnuts in it someday, but I don't want to mess with a good thing!

Hmmm.. Maybe we'll give that a whirl this year - since it can be made the night before.. :santa:

This is my monkey bread recipe. I do the biscuits the night before, then make the butter/sugar syrup the morning of and bake. There are tons of different recipes for monkey bread but they're all good.

4 tubes refrigerated biscuit dough
3/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup white sugar

Mix together 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon and put in large Ziploc bag. Cut biscuits into 4 pieces. Add a handful of biscuit pieces to Ziploc bag and shake until well coated. Place biscuits into greased bundt pan. Repeat until you've used all the biscuits and all the sugare. Melt butter and add 3/4 cup sugar, cook until bubbly and sugar is dissolved. Pour mixture over biscuits. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.

Thanks! I'm gonna have to try this one.

I haven't made this yet, but it sounds pretty good:

Overnight French Toast

12 slices day old bread - cubed
16 oz. cream cheese - diced
1 c. blueberries, rinsed and drained
12 eggs
1/3 c. maple syrup
2 c. milk

1. Place 1/2 of the bread cubes in a lightly greased 9 x 13" baking pan. Scatter cream cheese over bread, sprinkle with blueberries. Place remaining bread cubes on top.

2. In a large bowl, beat eggs, syrup and milk. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

3. In the morning preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake covered 25 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 - 20 minutes longer or until puffed and golden brown.

Ooooo! That's different - with the cream cheese and blueberries! Gotta save this one! :santa:
