Odd Waitlist Coincidence

So earlier today we were going to deactivate a waitlist but I asked MS to check to make sure it hadn't been filled because if it filled we wanted it, otherwise i was going to grab a partial stay somewhere else. At any rate, they said it was still searching, no match. So I deactivated the waitlist. Not 15 minutes later ithe room we had waitlisted (and this was for a full week at the end of Dec / early Jan) was fully available. Luckily I was stalking and was able to pick it up on my own. Seems like a weird coincidence.

The whole waitlist thing to me a huge mystery at how it actually works. Ive seen so many weird stories.

It is truly a mystery....

I've had multiple waitlists that coincidentally "matched" while I was on the phone with member services for unrelated reasons. One was for a BW view studio, one was for a value studio at AKV (both of those were October stays) and one was for a 1BR at HHI in April over Easter weekend....and that was about 6 weeks before the trip.

For the record, most people would probably say the room we gave up (Riviera Preferred Studio) was the better room than what we grabbed (OKW 1 Bedroom). After our laundry experience in a studio a couple of weeks ago we decided it is 1 Bedrooms from now on.

Other than the Cabins at FW it's the only WDW DVC resort we haven't stayed at yet. Looking forward to trying it out unless something at SSR opens in a 1 BR so we can be walkable to DS.

Stay strong..OKW was your destiny the way it came to you. SSR is just a refurbished Disney Institute lol. You can still walk to DS from OKW.
