That's the thing... it doesn't seem like it's an exciting enough development (Hey... we're giving our members something other people already had!) to merit a big announcement to the general public (not just to the membership).

I can't imagine they would put a big billboard up for member dining or EE. It's something they want to get the attention of the general public. Interesting placement near Bonnet Creek. I think it's a new resort, my guess is California. I was out in CA earlier this month, they have DVC booths at Downtown Disney @ Disneyland.

I agree with you except I think it is Eagle Pines.

I am going to take a shot at a guess. I think that it will be CR or AKL DVC. The reason I am guessing this way instead of Eagle Pines, is that they just have more to sell at SSR and I believe Eagle Pines would put more pressure on SSR sales than an AKL or CR. I see AKL or CR DVC selling very quickly.

I don't think it's the dining plan, that's already out there. I doubt they would advertise with a property wide billboard with an anouncement for the relatively small guest pool of DVC members.

Either a California DVC or, more likely, an onsite WDW property. Eagle Pines is my bet.

The thing about Eagle Pines is it sounds like it would be a long construction project since they are starting from scratch (was any excavation work done before they put it on hold?). It would take until SSR is soldout to complete.

I kinda feel the same way. I would love, love, love an AKL DVC. However, my checkbook might not appreciate it.
Seriously, I'm kinda hoping it's not an AKL DVC, cause I wouldn't be able to afford more points at this time, and that would depress me. And I'm sure I'd never get in at the 7 month mark.

Well all I know is that if it is a new DVC resort, and it is one I want to buy, I just hope they don't start selling it or at least aren't sold out for 3.5 years from now. I can afford more points then

Well one thing I know is that Disney is not giving free points, discounts or anything that will cost them money. DVC brass would face too much scrutiny/criticism when they reported such largesse. Charity begans with shareholder dividends is what they will hear.

Its not going to be another DVC property. No chance, since they are still selling a big portion of Saratoga. A new property would kill off alot of potential buyers to SSR.

Dining plan has already been announced so I also think little chance in this being that.

The new 3-D sign sounds like the winner. I'm ok with that. I think a financially robust DVC system is good in the long run for us and a nifty sign would generate interest.

I'm standing by my original post (#56) that it is a new 3-D billboard. That is what I was told by a DVC rep at the Merry Mixer on Dec 22. (He also told me that the EE preview event at AK would also include passholders, and that has come to pass!)
I went by the sign again today. While it is a decent enough sign, it clearly is a temporary sign. And a new addition in front of the sign is a bunch of those little flags they use at construction sites to indicate underground utilities, etc., indicating that something is about to happen at that site. Nothing else but a billboard would fit on that site, and being across from Bonnet Creek resort entrance makes perfect sense.
