What'price per day for your family?

I’m going to come off sounding a bit condescending here, but I can’t think of any other way to word this so I am apologizing in advance.

$1650 for a 7 night vacation for 3 people is excellent.

I know you are only dividing by 6 because you will only be in the park 6 days, but if you do that, then you really should take 1 night off the total, OR you should divide by 7.

By my math the entire vacation is $1650/7/3 = $78.53 per person per day.
Or remove $140 for the 1 night at the Dolphin and you have $1510/6/3 = $83.88 per person per day.

Now think about it, $83.88 includes all transportation, lodging, food and entertainment and WOW!!

Or think about it another way.
Room = $140 Rack rate
Park admission = $50 per day
Food = $12 Breakfast, $16 Lunch, $25 Dinner = $53 per day

Whatever way you slice it, you have a great deal here.

No, you don't sound condescending at all! I know she's been talking to a co-worker who, as she puts it, "does Disney as a career" and I believe the co-worker will help her see that this is a good deal.

She sounds like a good mom who is trying to do what is best for her kids. I wouldn't pressure her because if she doesn't get that big check before you go to Disney with her she may resent spending the money on the trip. Those feelings may come out on the trip and ruin your vacation.

It does sound like her kids have had a rough time but they will not really be able to enjoy the vacation if they sense that mom is worried about paying for it.

I've only had hoppers once and only used it to hop once so I never add that option anymore. If I was to add anything it would be the waterpark and more option. It's almost like hopping if you go to a waterpark in the morning and a park at night. Because they both cost about the same to add I think you get more for your money with the waterpark option. That being said, I think she will be happier with no options added because no matter where you are if you are worried about money or other stresses waiting at home, you simply can't enjoy yourself.

I really hope she gets that big check soon and you are able to all go and have a great time.

I absolutely hope and pray that she will not back out! My husband and I took her older child with us last year, it's for the sake of her younger one-who is now 5-that I am hoping she doesn't back out. It would be his first trip.

I'm already prepared for no hoppers and am going to plan the trip around that. Since I was there last Feb., and my daughter and her older child were there with me, this trip is more about my sister and her younger child having fun. I've already given-and will give again-a speech to my daughter about making sure that her 2 cousins enjoy themselves, it's all about them having fun!

Our family is 2a and 2c. My Mom is coming with us - but I didn't include her in my budget. I gave myself 1500 dollars, here's the breakdown;

762.00 = 6 days/5 nights at Music with 1 day park tickets required to get free dining
278.00 = Cost to upgrade those tickets to the FLR 3/4-day pass, including tax. (Kids each have a 1 day ticket on NE passes - so they only need 3 days)
200.00 = Souvenirs, however we will also be getting an extra 75 dollar gift card for hubs birthday.
100.00 = Tips for TS. I think I over guesstimated this a little, as I doubt each meal will be 100 dollars, but I like having a little cushion in case other things are more than I think they will be.
75.00 = Sampling at F&WF.
40.00 = Gas, we can get to and from on one tank.
25.00 = My share for Tea at the Grand Floridian, just Mom and I are going.
20.00 = In room drinks, snacks and breakfast items brought from home.
1500.00 = Grand total

Ours is 85 dollars a day per person.
860 for our hotel
842 for out tickets
700 for dining
We are going for 6 nights, family of 4.
I didn't add gas, souviners etc.

Ours is $115.46 per person per day:

Flight from CLT $635.40 for 2
All Star Sports for 11 days w/10 day park hopper and free :woohoo:dining (other than the minimal cost of an upgrade from QS to DDP) $1904.82 again for 2

Couples often have a higher per person cost than families, but less total cost so it all works out!

My August trip at the Music resort will be $75 per person per day.

My last trip at the Contemporary was $153 per person per day.

We are 4 persons.

My spring break Daytona Beach vacation was $50 per person per day. 5 persons.

For you and your sister check out the Doubletree in Downtown Disney. I'm sure it is cheaper than POR and with the kitchen you can make sandwiches and microwavable foods. You will save a lot of money doing this and it's pretty much the same vacation. We do this often to save money.

We went 3/21-3/28...8 days/7 nights at CBR, park hoppers, dining plan. Two adults adn two kids. $2800 total and that included the insurance and we did the 4/3 deal. That was JUST for the package. We drove from NJ.

That made it about $87.50 a day per person. :banana:

Guess I wasn't as thrifty as others but this is our first trip ever to Disney and I want it to be the BEST trip ever!

Going in December 8n9d before Christmas. Family of 7 (2 adults; 5 children) at POP in 2 standard rooms. Free Dining. Took 1 day base ticket for package and will either add 6 day hopper from UT OR we'll get 5 military comapanion tickets with hopper and fill remaining 2 through UT.

$1388 Air
$2225 2 Rooms + DDP + 1 day park
$1727 6 day park hoppers from UT
$5340 Total

$85 per day per person
$95 per night per person

Wishing for air to drop, but it's a pretty good fare for us. It's SW so if it does, we'll get our $$$.

Haven't accounted for tips, incidentals, etc. We could save about $400 - $500 by driving, depending on gas prices, but we would take 4 travel days total and don't want to do so. Kids are all jazzed about flying- it'll be their first among many firsts on this trip. And likely many "lasts" as we may never get to do this again.
