Im going to come off sounding a bit condescending here, but I cant think of any other way to word this so I am apologizing in advance.
$1650 for a 7 night vacation for 3 people is excellent.
I know you are only dividing by 6 because you will only be in the park 6 days, but if you do that, then you really should take 1 night off the total, OR you should divide by 7.
By my math the entire vacation is $1650/7/3 = $78.53 per person per day.
Or remove $140 for the 1 night at the Dolphin and you have $1510/6/3 = $83.88 per person per day.
Now think about it, $83.88 includes all transportation, lodging, food and entertainment and WOW!!
Or think about it another way.
Room = $140 Rack rate
Park admission = $50 per day
Food = $12 Breakfast, $16 Lunch, $25 Dinner = $53 per day
Whatever way you slice it, you have a great deal here.
No, you don't sound condescending at all! I know she's been talking to a co-worker who, as she puts it, "does Disney as a career" and I believe the co-worker will help her see that this is a good deal.
She sounds like a good mom who is trying to do what is best for her kids. I wouldn't pressure her because if she doesn't get that big check before you go to Disney with her she may resent spending the money on the trip. Those feelings may come out on the trip and ruin your vacation.
It does sound like her kids have had a rough time but they will not really be able to enjoy the vacation if they sense that mom is worried about paying for it.
I've only had hoppers once and only used it to hop once so I never add that option anymore. If I was to add anything it would be the waterpark and more option. It's almost like hopping if you go to a waterpark in the morning and a park at night. Because they both cost about the same to add I think you get more for your money with the waterpark option. That being said, I think she will be happier with no options added because no matter where you are if you are worried about money or other stresses waiting at home, you simply can't enjoy yourself.
I really hope she gets that big check soon and you are able to all go and have a great time.
I absolutely hope and pray that she will not back out! My husband and I took her older child with us last year, it's for the sake of her younger one-who is now 5-that I am hoping she doesn't back out. It would be his first trip.
I'm already prepared for no hoppers and am going to plan the trip around that. Since I was there last Feb., and my daughter and her older child were there with me, this trip is more about my sister and her younger child having fun. I've already given-and will give again-a speech to my daughter about making sure that her 2 cousins enjoy themselves, it's all about them having fun!
