What would you like to see on the new ships?

Okay, I've been debating in my head whether or not this is a worthwhile discussion to have four years before the next ship is set to launch, but I figure they are already drawing up the plans for the new ships due in 2021 and 2023. Assuming the architects and imagineers might consult this board (because we are such a helpful community ) let's submit our requests now...

I would like...
a more sprawling/open pool deck.
An adult pool deck that families can easily avoid.
Some adult pool type seating on deck 4 (comfy couches or round chairs.)
A way to submit an order for a fancy coffee using the dcl app where you can either have it delivered to your room or just walk up and pick up.
A library/art gallery with comfortable seating.
Three palo/remy type restaurants with one that you can take children >10 to.

I know mine is not the majority, but I would like to see more upscale dress codes and a little less casual beach side hotel dress codes for the evening meals in the MDR.

I would also like to see private table dining as the standard unless otherwise requested instead of group dining.

I would also like to have an open dining rotation option...like first seating is on the traditional rotational dining plan and second seating is open dining with extended hours, so you do not have to rush to make dinner on time and you can choose what dining atmosphere you want for the evening.

And last, I long for the BYOB policy...but again, I know that will never happen.

I recently said this recently at a Christmas party and the woman's response was 'why so you could see nudity or something'. Which I thought a ridiculous response but I simply said - no, just to keep it peaceful, because some people nap on the lounges

I've seen about as much "almost" nudity in the family/kid pool areas as I've seen in the adult pool area. There are some things I wish I could unsee .

I'll just chime in here with the thought that I grew up on the "dress for dinner" "group tables" on cruises ambiance.

I wish I'd had some time to enjoy that atmosphere.

I think having an alternate venue (like the buffet) for those who don't want to dress would help.

It still works on other cruise lines...which is why we sail on them more often. My point was that I would like to see one ship offer a more old school cruising approach and people could choose their ship and level of formality when they booked. Unfortunately, the more old school formal lines that we like are just not as "kid friendly" as DCL and we have a 6 year old, so we have a while to wait before the stuffy old people cruises can be our thing permanently.

And as a side note...our school's annual fundraiser has been a "denim and diamonds" event the past few years. About 100 people would come. This year, I am in charge and I changed it to a cocktail/semi formal attire event and we have already sold over 300 tickets. People WANT a reason to get fancy since there are so few opportunities these days.

I agree with all of these - especially with the noise control in MDRs as I am hard of hearing and the noise level in those restaurants is really a turn off for me. Card tables - what a fun idea! There really aren't good surfaces outside of the staterooms on which to play cards or for me, write postcards/letters/paint etc...
I'd be fine with that going in my library/art gallery Shmoo. The desk in the stateroom is just so narrow and feels a bit weird to stare yourself in the face. The bar areas are just a bit windowless and creepy during the day to sit down there and work or play. I prefer to see the outdoors always if there is a choice. That may be one more reason I don't love the MDRs. So add that to my list - restaurants with views. Some of the new ships on other lines seem to be having no problem with that.

LOL! I'm sure by 2023 you will be able to accomplish this if you start saving $500 a month today. Hahaha!! Can you even imagine what prices will look like with 2 new ships and an additional 6 year of inflation?!?! People were freaking out this year, I can't even imagine what opening day pricing for the new ships will look like.

yikes. I just compared prices of the same 7day western caribbean cruise we took 3 years ago and it is up by almost 8k. we aren't repeating that one. I keep thinking with all these really amazing new ships on the market (even Carnival's latest looks appealing to us) DCL would have to be feeling some competition and maybe, just maybe, have an offer we could use (kids sail free like they use to.) And as much as I would love to experience an inaugral cruise, remember all the problems and issues the Dream had in it's first few months - and service dipped across all the ships substantially. So better to wait a bit. Maybe.

I'd love bigger pools and the adult area to be accessed only by adults 21 and over instead of 18 . A lot of the 18 & 19 yr olds act like they need to be in the kids clubs instead.

Dinner buffet
Photopass (with photopass type of prices and ability to combine with WDW stay) instead of Shutters
