What would you like to see on the new ships?

I've seen about as much "almost" nudity in the family/kid pool areas as I've seen in the adult pool area. There are some things I wish I could unsee :rolleyes1.

That's hilarious. There's always a few that wear bathing suits with not very much material.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!:genie:
Okay maybe I'm being a bit of a pot-stirrer here, but if you want a Adults only cruise experience wouldn't sailing on like Regency or Fred Olsen cruise lines be more your preference? After all these are DISNEY ships, the entire concept of just about everything Disney is families, kids, and inclusion of them together! Isolating yourself on a ship that is designed for families with kids is kind of anti-social. Personally I would like to see a LARGER pool area for families, not just the little ones, but something where the entire family could hang out around the pool with out anyone being excluded simply because of their age. IMHO anyway.

What about the adult-only groups that love Disney also? Shouldn't they have a space for themselves? Much like the kid's clubs are kid-only (except for designated times when adults are allowed in). I don't see it as anti-social. More like being able to have the vacation you want, on the cruise line you love.

I think the dress thing for dinner is sort of impossible at this point. Business and work attire is tending to the more casual and so I don't think they'd meet with a good response after people have paid a lot of money for the vacation and then told they had to dress up if they didn't want to, and then told they couldn't be seated for the meal if they didn't.

Not to start a whole war on whether people should dress up or not, but since this is a wish list about the design of new ships...

What about a set of main dining rooms each with two entrances, but one kitchen? That way, each restaurant could have a dress up and a dress down option. It would be the same kitchen, and essentially one restaurant, but half would be dressy and half would not. They could even be loosely partitioned to keep the atmosphere. This would end the debate once and for all. Of course, if 90% of the people signed up for one type (either dress up or dress down) it wouldn't work, but as many people here have said, some people would opt for a more formal option if there was one available, and it really wouldn't cost Disney much extra to design it this way. Might cut down on the noise issue too.

I tend to agree with you , I would bet 90% plus of the passengers have some kids in their party, yet 30% of the top deck is adults only. I think more pool deck space for families is warranted given how tight it is now.

I was part of the 90% travelling with kids, but I still really enjoyed time in the adults only areas. My kids WANTED some time in the tween/teen clubs and after all, isn't great kids clubs one of the draws for DCL? So when they were there, I enjoyed some time in the adult areas. I would want that to get any smaller.

Some areas of the ship were definitely under-utilized, but that is great too. Such a big ship with so many people and still some empty areas. I would say, better wind control on the upper decks and more optional (Maybe retractable?) shade on the top decks would be great. Some areas were empty much of the time because it was just too Windy/Sunny to do anything, even just lie there, and thus, those areas went unused.

Remember too, much of the reason that the pools on the ships aren't bigger is due to Physics. So much weight, so high up, but maybe more modern ships can cope with that too.

I hear you about the lack of thought put into the adult areas relating to wind and shade. I am all for adult only areas, but hey even the adult nightclubs are basically empty every night. Add to that, the kids clubs , at least in my kids age groups are WAY overcrowded, not a great place for kids who might enjoy escaping to some quiet space just as you say adults like. Given the small % of adult only bookings even in off-season I thought more family space is warranted ESPECIALLY on the top deck

Also your physics point is controllable by the designers, look at the RCL ships , some have similar passenger capacities but designed the ships with wider beams for MUCH larger deck space , definitely possible

Actually, the spaces I was referring to are not in the adult only areas.

Again, I don't think adult-only bookings have anything to do with it. The question is how many people on the ship are seeking adult-only space, and to me, the answer is most of them, at some time or another. I didn't find the night clubs to be empty either. I think they already have a good compromise there: children welcome until 9PM and then adult only.

It is valid to ask for the kids areas to be larger if you find them to be overcrowded. My kids are a little older than yours. Their spaces were a good size for their group, plus they could come and go as they pleased.

Personally I would like to see a ship the size of oasis with a Disney design , it would be amazing with what Disney imagineers and all of the Disney content they could integrate into such a large space - rides, 5 or 6 pools, a better designed adult area. There is more space per passenger in those ships for kids and adults alike. Unfortunately, ain't going to happen

Why isn't it going to happen? Has there already been an indication of what to expect?

I'd love more adult-only space - bigger pool and more hot tubs.

But the biggest thing would be more ethnic food options (Mexican, Japanese, Chinese to name a few). So many other cruise lines are offering this, even if it is at an up charge. I just a little tied of the French/Italian/American food on the ship after 7 days. It'd be nice to see some more culturally diverse food options on board. The crew dining area gets more of these options from what I understand, so it shouldn't be too much a stress to offer more of it to guests.

I haven't read others but want to chime in then see what others say:
- something similar/same as Aquaduck
- Mid-ship Detective Agency with new stories and adventures
- MagicBand type of technology
- the ability for Oceaneer's Club and Lab to contact parents on their phones so no need to carry wave phone

- and since we're dreaming....more affordable sailing prices. LOL - a girl can dream!!

I'd go for a the adult-only pool area (only accessed by adults, no "just walking through" kiddos).
New itineraries.
A bit larger bathrooms in the staterooms.
Better noise control in the dining rooms.
Card tables.

To be honest, the dining room situation is the deciding factor for us when choosing DCL over RCI for example. The dining on DCL is fun, and kid friendly. On other lines we feel some people confuse Ocean Liners with Cruise ships and believe that dining on a floating resort is some sort of upscale experience. Trying to enter the main dining room on those ships with a young child was intimidating and not fun. By contrast we have great memories of the dining on our last DCL cruise.

I'd like to see the app upgraded so you could purchase drinks, merch, port adventures, book things like Royal Tea and BBB, and future cruises with onboard booking credits. The idea being: purchase from your phone, and go to a pick up spot, rather than waste precious vacation time in lines.

Also they could add a wait time indicator in the app to things like meet and greets, aqua duck etc. So again, you could be more efficient with your vacation time.

That reminds me of the Library inside the Carnival Victory which has tons of good boardgames. I wish DCL had that! So much fun! :) Playing Jenga in a moving ship: difficulty +++

New itineraries.
Adult area that is truly adult--not where families have to walk through
Dinner buffet
Photopass (with photopass type of prices and ability to combine with WDW stay) instead of Shutters

I agree...............no more shutters.
