My family of 9 are all flying into Orlando from Michigan on February 14th...My sister, who lives in KY...will be arriving at the airport two hours later. We will all be staying together at Pop Century. My sister and I are trying to figure out if she would want to wait for us for those two hours....and go with us in the Limo Van...or go on and use Magical Express (which we have already used before)...and wait for us at Pop Century? We can't remember if there would be a place for her to wait (sitting down) for us in the luggage area or not. She also leaves an hour earlier than the rest of us...(which really wouldn't bother us to leave earlier..but she is concerned about it).....

Our airlines doesn't participate with Magical Express (hers does) and besides...we wanted to stop at a grocery store on our way to Pop Century. I hate the idea of her having to wait for us for over two hours in the airport...but, I don't mind leaving earlier for her on our departure....on the other hand...She said she doesn't mind having to wait two hours for us..but, hates the idea of 9 of us having to leave an hour ealier to go back..just for her....and there is the possibility of both of our flights (mine have already been changed twice...and so has hers)....(Delta and Northwest) to change again... :confused3

I'm confused...if your sister is arriving 2 hours later than you...she wouldn't be waiting for you right?

Do you both have cell phones? 2 hours can change very quickly with delayed flights or whatever....is there any way you can play it by ear? Guess that is what I would do.

Flying into MCO everyone that stays on Disney property is eligible to use DME and your luggage will be taken to your room. On your return trip participating airlines will allow you to check your luggage and receive your boarding pass at your resort. Again if you are staying on Disney property you can use DME on your return trip. If your airline is not a participating airline it means you have to take your luggage on the bus.

Yes..so far...My sister's flight would arrive over two hours earlier (did I say later???) than the rest of us...She'd either have to wait for us...so that she could ride the Limo van with us..or go on Magical Express by herself....and wait for us at Pop Century...Having to retrieve luggage for nine people...(four children and five adults just doesn't appeal to me right now... :rotfl: )Taking the Limo Van give us the option of stopping at the grocery store to pick up a few groceries to take to our rooms...I made dinner reservations for every night and a one Character Breakfast....other than that...we will eat breakfast in our rooms....I am paying for "everything"....so...renting a Limo service...and stopping at the grocery store is actually cheaper for me....If we all took Magical Express...I wouldn't have that option...and would end up paying for "Breakfasts Out".....

If she doesn't mind waiting for you, then she should just wait. There's plenty to do in the airport. There's the Disney store, SeaWorld store, Theres a Harley Davidson store, and many many others. They could even grab a bite to eat. When she gets down to the luggage area, yes, there is a sitting area. The only issue I could see with that plan is how much luggage she'll have to wait around with.

Have a great trip!

If you are going to use ME and receive your yellow tags and can get some of the tags to her (unless she gets her own tags) then most of her luggage can be sent to the resort via ME and she only needs to have a carry-on or two with her.

If she wants to go to the resort immediately via ME she can check carry-ons with a bellhop, take a regular bus to Downtown Disney, spend an hour or so, then meet up with you back at the resort.

Okay, yes there are places at Pop Century where your sister can wait for you. There are a couple of seating areas in the lobby, the alcove where kids can wait and watch Disney TV while their parents check in, the food court, the pool area, the bar AT the pool...
But I'm confused about your statement about having to retrieve luggage for nine people. The limo van will only have one driver whom you seem to expect to do all that retrieving instead? If you use DME, Disney will take complete care of your checked luggage - it will get pulled before any bags are placed on the carousel and transported to your hotel, and eventually to your room - magically! :) For a LOT less than what you're paying the limo service, you could take a taxi to a supermarket and back to get your breakfast stuff; or pack the non-perishables and just buy items like milk and juice from the gift shop at Pop. EITHER option is much less expensive than the limo van, even one way.

Another option would be to use ME all of your party and luggage except yourself and rent a car at National. Do you grocery shopping, bring the groceries to your resort and return the car to National on Disney property. They will drive you back to your resort...or...rent the car on Disney property and return it there same day. May be cheaper then a limo.

I think by our using Northwest...the nine of us would have to retrieve our luggage and take it all to the Magical Express desk and then again... take it all the bus with us...wouldn't we?
I was also told by Magical Express before that in order to have our bags checked on the Magical Express bus...We would have to ride a Magical Express bus...
I wish my sister could just go on and use Magical Express for all of her luggage...not have to worry about it..and still ride with all the rest of us...but I also understand why Magical Express would frown upon that...

I think I'll "play it by ear"...Anything can happen between now and then...Our flights could all change again...

No if you are signed up for DME you would not have to retrieve your luggage for the trip to the resort. But someone will have to go on the bus or the luggage would not be delivered to the resort.

Going to the WDW resorts when you arrive in Orlando resort guests can use DME no matter what airline they flew in on.

It sounds like NW is going to be back as a particpating airline for resort checkin.

I'd have your sister take DME and have her checkin to your resort. The room might already be ready.

How about having your sister rent an economy car, she can go to Pop & wait for you guys, sit by the pool...whatever. The rest of you use ME, and then once at Pop a couple of you can skip out with the rented car & do a grocery run...

Saves the $$ of the van, and you'll have a car for quick errands.

no way would I sit at the airport for 2 hrs or maybe more( delays). Not when I could take DME to POP and just relax by the pool and wait for the other nine people. :cool1: :cool1:
