Kathy sorry to hear about the car...
I worked for three great ortho surgeons for years! they don't do the surgery on spines but they did do the shots...on disc they almost ALWAYS referred to neurosurgeon...NEVER TO A CHIROPRACTER! not for a disc problem they are good for muscle problems...the surgery is usually a very quick fix (depending on the problem) but depending on where the disc is bulging sometimes tracation w/some physical therapy is a good way to go! Hope this does not drag on too long and he finds some relief soon!
:wave2:

Sorry to hear about Mark, my DW also had a ruptured/protruding disc caused by a chiropractor and had to have surgery (Discectomy) to correct it. The surgery worked great but a few years later she had to have another smaller one to remove some scar tissue that built up around the nerve from the 1st surgery. Everything has been fine since then. They have a less invasive surgery now (Microdiscectomy) where the incision is a lot smaller and a faster recovery time.

Thank you. Actually, he wasn't referred to the chiropractor, that's where he went first as he thought he just had slept wrong or something and went in for a treatment (our youngest and I go to the chiropractor for an adjustment every month). They immediately took an xray and then sent him to get the MRI. He's basically just been going through therapy at the chiropractor (exercises) until we figured out what was going on. It has helped a little with the exercise, but we know he needs something more done.

Do 5 days at AKL and then Marco. We LOVE AKL, but this way you can try it, and if you don't like it while you're there then you have Marco to look forward to :).

ETA: I'm sorry, I didn't read the whole thread until after I posted. I hope everything works out for you! :hug:

Thanks, everyone for the prayers and thoughts. I woke up this morning and just started sobbing. Our dryer went out and now we have to go and get a new one. :scared1: There are days I just want to run away and hide. But all of you make life bearable. :grouphug:

look at it this way 2009 is almost out of the way and 2010 will be a great one!!!!
:grouphug:
man, a new dryer on top of it all...so sorry to hear how bad your year is ending hope the last two months start to perk up!!!

:lmao::lmao: From your mouth to God's ears; I thought after last year with my dad being ill for seven months that this was going to be a better year; yeah, right. And Markie just called....he has the flu! :headache:

The check for the car is on the way--not much and not nearly enough for a new "used" car; we're taking Markie my car this weekend; replaced the dryer (they are delivering it tomorrow...Andy will be there for the delivery); Mark goes to the spine doctor in about a week--earliest appointment he could get. Markie is sick but is negative for the flu; I don't feel well, but I'm sure a lot of it is due to stress, an argument I had with someone and just being down in the dumps with all that is going on.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

Kathy Kathy Kathy! When it rains it pours. You know that I know how you feel......you'll remember all the medical issues and family problems we went through in the last few months.

Being down in the dumps and dealing with the stress of everything certainly can pull you down. Please do everything you can to stay healthy. :grouphug:

Kathy, we are here for you. I don't know what I'd done today without my friends. They have actually saved my from telling my boss to take a flying leap off a short pier. Or worse. That was being kind.

That week for Mark is going to be a long one. I hope you got a nice dryer out of the deal. You deserve it. You and I could carpool if you'd like.

Anytime you feel argumentative just give us a call. You can argue away and we are very forgiving. Heck, I wouldn't even remember it the next day. The Alzheimer's is kicking in fast.

:tinker:pixiedust::grouphug:pixiedust::tinker:

Lots of good thoughts and that special "dust" on the way to you! Hope everything is working out for the better/best SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kat, I hope your life settles down quickly!

Sorry to hear about the dryer. I guess it was more than just the heating element.

I hope you can find a decent 'cheap' car. I'm sure you can find something that won't break the bank.

Is Mark getting any relief from his back pain yet?

I wish you guys only the best. Keep your head up Kathy.:hug:

Okay, this is where things stand:

Mark cannot get into a specialist until December 1 (the other one recommended was even later--December 8);

Markie went to the emergency room this afternoon. He does NOT have the flu, but has strept throat and an ear infection (poor kid);

Got a new dryer...it was delivered today;

We are taking Markie my car over the weekend (probably Sunday as Saturday I'll be too tired as I'm running a fundraiser on Friday night and plan to have several adult beverages).

I think you definitely deserve "several adult beverages" with the way things have gone with you guys the last few weeks. Just don't drive home!

Poor Mark. Be sure to call the Dr. and have them put him on the cancellation list.

Glad Markie does not have the flu but probably does not make him feel any better.

Yay on the dryer. Just what every housewife wants. Something that makes us work.

Have a safe journey with the car but enjoy your beverages on Friday nite. Have one or two for me too please. I haven't had any since my birthday.

Ginny:hug:

Ginny, you are too funny. I will definitely have two for you. What's your preference? I'll be drinking what my dad always drank--Scotch & Water. :)
