What would you do? RD or ADR? Parade taping day!

I also haven't been to MK during parade taping, but I can tell you that I have made some pre-park opening ADRs for our upcoming trip and would absolutely cancel them if the parks were opening earlier. Touring the parks is so much easier in the mornings and I wouldn't want to miss out on that. We ate lunch at Crystal Palace on our first trip and while the character interaction was stellar, the food wasn't very good. I also saw several of the Winnie the Pooh characters out and about in the parks with very short lines.

Thanks for the advice. Do you know where on EasyWDW it talks about strategy for parade taping days. I cant find anything other than when he just says when its happening and to avoid that Monday.

No problem! I come here often for advice. :surfweb: You're going at a great time of year, so either way I think your trip is going to be Magical! Don't fret. You have a good plan in place and you're going to have a blast! Christmas at WDW is unlike anything I've ever seen!

My advice isn't specific for your situation but I do agree with skipping ADR and starting with the rides.

I don't have children and only visited with my husband and/or friends. My first few trips to Disneyworld I drove myself crazy and everyone around me because I wanted everything to be perfect. When something would change my plan I would let it bother me. Most days I would have a melt-down by mid-afternoon, fling the map at my husband and say “you figure it out”. Believe me not a pretty picture. He finally drummed into my thick head that “this was a vacation, he promised we’d be back to Disney World, that I didn’t have to do everything, that magically memories can’t be forced and to enjoy the magic. I still had trips with mini-meltdowns but our trips were much better. We would plan park days and ADR’s and then would go enjoy the park and hit our “top” of the list. I know it’s extremely hard to let go – I continually try – and it doesn’t always work. My advice is to go enjoy your family and the magic. If you miss a ride life will go on.

Another quick note – I have many wonderful children in my life who visit Disney with their parents. I always ask them when they return what they liked best of all on the vacation and 9 out of 10 times it is: spending time with mom and dad at the pool. The little ones just love having undivided attention and want to be with you! Enjoy the magic.

Thanks all. I canceled the ADR I figure we will take this extra hour and make use of it. Hoping we can really get a lot done :cool1: It will be a great day. FP to BTM than PP. Fast pass lunch at BOG than were taking a break mid day when crowds are heavy and back at 5 for FP to Buzz then we are enjoying the Christmas parade. Now fingers crossed we have good weather, no rain and no freezing temps :) I am in VA and I'd really appreciate nothing below 50 ha.
