at the moment ive got a MK view room at the poly booked for 2 nights in november. really happy with the choice i've made so far, really want to try staying at the poly, and been looking at loads of great photos and reviews of the poly. the plan for our first night is to sit and watch wishes from our balcony then go for dinner. bliss! :cloud9:
but just been messing round on the website, and found out that i can get a concierge level honeymoon room at the wilderness lodge for the same price. and apparently some of the WL honeymoon rooms have a MK view (which i could request but obviously is not guaranteed). i know the room at the WL will greatly beat the room at the poly, but ive really set my heart on staying at the poly and the watching the wishes from the balcony thing.
what would you do and why? i dont really know anything about the WL, so will have to do some research. will probably have to move fast on this if i do decide to change resorts.
also the description says it includes a welcome gift. does anyone know what this is? also daft question that i know is going to be a no, but no harm in asking, but do you get to keep the robes?

If it were me, I would keep it as it is. First off, I much prefer the theming of the Poly over the WL. Plus, the location of the Poly is better. And, having stayed in a MK view room at the Poly, it really can't be beat. It is a wonderful environment. I'm sure being on the concierge level at WL would be nice, but I'm not convinced that the room would be nicer than what you would get at the Poly. The rooms at the Poly are very good size, especially in the Tahiti longhouse. Also, while some of the honeymoon rooms "might" have a view of the MK, it's no way guaranteed and it will be nothing like the view you will get from the Poly.

So my advice, stick with what you've got. I think you'll be quite happy with it.

I had the same exact problem as you. When I first booked our December trip, we had a MK view room at the Poly. Then I kept finding pictures on this site of the WL at Christmas time. We had stayed at the WL in October of 2006 and totally fell in love with it. I booked the MK room at the Poly b/c I have always wanted to stay in a room with a MK view. I had months and months of nights where it took me hours to fall alseep b/c I was worried that I had made the right choice. Then I made our ADR's, and I noticed that we would not be in the room during any firework times. Which was the main reason I wanted the view. After checking with the DH, I called and made the switch to the WL. I was able to book a courtyard view with bunk beds. My boys have wanted a bunk beds room since our first trip in 2004. They are finally getting one, and they don't even know it. I can not wait to suprise them with it!!!
When faced with the same delimma we opted to change to the WL and we couldn't be happier about it. If you think that you will spend more time in your room and we actually be there during the fireworks, I would just keep the ressie as it is.

I won't be staying at WL until January, but I have stayed at Poly (MK view) and think it is just magical! Since you aren't gaurenteed the view at WL, I wouldn't chance it.

I think I would keep the reservation as is. :goodvibes

I am most certainly biased, but I would stay with the Poly.

I would not waste my money on the MK view room though. The Garden rooms are the same size and it is a short walk to the beach. Nothing is better than watching Wishes or one of the other specialty fireworks displays from the beach. Concierge level is overrated; It is nice, but the price is not justified by what you actually get. Will you need the snacks? Could you not talk to customer service at the front desk instead of the concierge? The rooms are the same size as well, I believe, at the Poly. I have known a few people to get bumped to Concierge level at the Poly free of charge.

My favourite building in the Poly resort is Tokelau as it is in between the GCH and the TTC, a short walk to the main pool and the beach, and right next to the quiet pool.

Transportation from the Poly is a bit better as you can take monorail or boat to MK and monorail to Epcot from TTC.

You can access the Spa services at the GF from the Poly by foot, albeit a bit of a walk.

The main pool at the Poly has a longer waterslide (it felt longer anyway) and I liked the zero point entry with the kids. The grounds were also more relaxing as the buildings are spread out more than the rooming at the WL.

The WL has good eats in Artist's Point and Whispering Canyon, but I like the Kona cafe a lot too.

I like the WL too, but feel the theming is better suited for families than couples. The WL rooms are also a touch smaller than other deluxes.

I agree with the others - keep the Polynesian! You won't regret it. If you want the concierge, you could go to a Concierge Garden view for about the same price as the lagoon view, and you can still see Wishes from the Concierge Lounge (not as intimate as a balcony, but still beautiful!)

Have fun!

I am staying at the Poly and booked for a garden view at the end of Aug.
I wanted to know do you think that I may have a better chance at getting
a free upgrade if I don't make a request for a specific longhouse? :confused3

I once stayed at the Poly and had an MK view. Of all my trips at many different resorts, my memory of watching the castle change colors from my balcony is one of my very most magical memories and my most cherished....

thanks for all the replies guys, i think i will stay at the poly. i have really got it into my head about watching wishes from our balcony.
we (well actually i, havent told DH that ive booked this, not going to tell him, he thinks we staying on I-drive, just going to get "lost" and pull up to the poly instead!!) never considered concierge before or the WL really, i just kinda noticed that the WL honeymoon concierge was the same price as my MK poly room. we're only there from about 7pm on tuesday to about 8am on thursday, so the plan was to watch wishes both nights. thats the reason i splurged on a MK view room over a garden view room.
now if only i could afford poly CL........ oh well a girl can dream eh?!

The two people who I know personally that were bumped up only one did not make a building request, but I don't know if that plays into the decision. I am still waiting to have something like that happen to me. From what I have read, it is more likely if they cannot meet a special condition, e.g. getting bumped up to CL if a requested MK view is unavailable. I have yet to not have a request met in advance by a Disney Resort.
