Read lots about welcome baskets on DISboards. Think they are great idea and plan to get two to for my DS 9 and DD 5. What souvenirs do you think are musts and how much are they?

I am thinking about an autograph book and pen, mickey ears and a mickey 2007 plus maybe a pin lanyard? Have no idea what sort of cost this is going to be.

What would you put in?:cheer2: :flower3: :cheer2:

The Hidden Mickey book and Epcot Passport kits were very popular when I was doing gift baskets.

Can you tell me what comes in the Epcot Passport Book. I have three kids, but only my DS9 is really interested in Epcot. I was thinking about getting this for him and letting him get the stamps at the different countries, but I don't really know that much about it. Any further explanation would be great.

It contains a pin of flags from all the Epcot countries. It also contains a little book that looks like a passport and stickers of flags. You put the appropriate country sticker on a page and go to a CM from the country as your tour through World Showcase at Epcot. The CM will right something to your child in their native language. The CMs are very nice about doing this and usually talk to the child about their country. My DD loved it when she was about 10 years old.

The passport sounds great, I remember a mask of some sort that used to have attachments added in each country in EPCOT, has this been replaced?

Can you get the pasport before entering world showcase?
This sounds very cool!

The passport kits are available all over Epcot. MouseGear has them. They are not sold outside of Epcot.

They still have the masks! It's free to do. Stop at your first country (doesn't matter which one) and they'll give you the mask to color and the first tassle. They also stamp the handle. Once you have all the stamps (whichever country you end at) you get a picture...sort of a lithograph. Very cute.

I'd add a pressed penny book and a roll of pennies and two rolls of Quarters, the whole family loved searching out these - they are all over the properties. Also a disposable camera each, you get some bad pictures- but you can also get some really wonderful ones too.

Each of my boys (7 and 9) are getting a disposable camer. I put stickers on the back with our last name, cell phone number, and the name of the hotel we are staying at incase the cameras get left somewhere. You might want to think about getting them hip bags so they can carry cameras and whatever little items they might need while in the park. My sons are very excited to be responsible for their own items.

Thanks for all the tips. Trayletha can you explain the pressed pennies for me - treat me gently I'm English and don't understand about these!:lmao:

Hi Lisaj the pressed pennies are pressed pennies. You put 2 quarters and one penny in a machine, turn the hanedel to the picture you like and the machine presses the image of the picture on the penny-my kids LOVE them we get them every where we go, it makes a nice momentoe.:goodvibes

Is MouseGear in Epcot? This sounds like such a great idea.

Also what is the basket idea? Do you do them yourself?

Thanks Nettii, this sounds like a wonderful idea and to be honest I think my two children would rather collect the pressed pennies than trade pins. Trying to find something different and American for them to do.
FBandA, I am intending to use memoriesbysarah.com for the gift baskets. She has had some really good recommendations on this site and was very helpful when I emailed her to ask about preparing our baskets for later this year.
Thank you all so much for your help.
Don't suppose anyone knows the current price for pressed penny books? Are the books available in the WDW gift shops and are the pressed penny machines available in all the parks/resorts?

I saw the press penny books everywhere and the machines also, when I was just there in November.
They have press quarters now, but there was not a press quarter book at that time, the quarters will not fit in the penny book, and I did not see as many quarter machines.
Just another idea, I don't remember what the cost was for the quarters.

There's a section in the pressed penny book with wider slots for the quarters, if you choose to do them. If not, you can fill them with pennies. We got ours 2 years ago for I think $6.00. I think they're $7 or slightly more than that now.

:goodvibes Helllo again Lisaj I also wanted to tell you we took the big Mini M&M tubes and filled them with 2 quarters and 1 penny. We made tubes toghter foer each of my kids 12 and 5 and they loved it! This helps to keep the change toghter. Good luck and have a great trip Nettii:goodvibes

Thanks again, will definitely be adding a pressed penny book to my order. Can't get quarters or pennies though before we go Nettii as we can only get dollar bills and above at our banks over here. (Didn't even know that you could get M&M's in tubes, we can get some chocolate in tubes over here though and that sounds a great idea), can I ask another stupid question please - how many coins are there in a roll of pennies or quarters?

You have all been brilliant, the planning wouldn't be doing so well without dis.
