I'm sure everyone agrees the Star Tours "redux" was long coming.
And I, for one will not miss Mickey's Toontown, sometimes change can be good.

But why stop there?
I have my own list of attractions I think need to be changed I'd like to share with you, and then I'd like to hear
your thoughts and ideas.

I'll start with Soarin', (apostrophe trademarked), or what most of us call it after we've ridden it ten times, Snorin'.
I remember when it first opened, we were told that they were already filming a new backdrop for it that should be up and running in two years.
Right, Soarin' is over 6 years old now, my guess is that with everything being the 3D craze in the movies that they are trying to work that into it, and heard rumors that it will now be based on flying over other Disney Parks.

Which now brings us to the Lack of Imagination pavillion.
This is now a sad, pathetic little building since Honey I Shrunk" is gone.

I agree sometimes going retro is good, but Michael Jackson? He was creepy to begin with, and now that he's dead and they think it's a good idea to bring back Captain EO? Don't get it.

And everytime they redo the Imagination ride it get's worse. They need to start from scratch and level the whole damn thing. A little gasoline, some newspaper, now let's talk about "One Little Spark!"

And please do something with the Wonders of life pavillion, at least redo Cranium Command and maybe put that in the Imagination pavillion. I only say redo it because nobody needs to see or hear Bobcat Goldwaithe ever again!

And while I'm still picking on Epcot, does anybody prefer Judy Dench over Jeremy Irons or the original Walter Chronkite in Spaceship Earth? Don't you miss "Tomorrow's Child?"
No, I don't like the stupid computer game you play on the way back down that slaps your face into where you want to live. Up at the top it was breathtaking with the moon and the stars, I wish they could have carried that theme all the way back down on the ceiling, maybe showed constellations for you to identify before a magic line would connect the dots. I don't know, it would still be better than punching a touch screen and looking at "fiber optics" on the walls.

Ok, I babbled more than I thought I would, your thoughts?

I love the surprise factor whenever WDW rehabs their attractions and parks:goodvibesWe always thought the prime real estate in Fantasyland was waiting for something after the Captain Nemo ride went away...and lo and behold...a princesses' dream area:thumbsup2I for one am grateful for the (sometimes) long wait. It give the Imagineers time to experiment and come up with their fantastic ideas! Who knows what the acquisition of Marvel comic characters can mean in say, 10 years:worship::worship:
(I totally agree with you on the MJ show--it did not age well:confused:

I think Journey into Imagination needs to be brought back to its original 80s glory, not completely torn up. I miss DreamFinder and Figment.

I also like Captain EO.

I would have like... idk... villian timesquare ;_;

I must be the only villian lover, but still.
I wish we had more opportunities to see them.

I would have like... I dunno ... a villain time square thing.. ;_;

I would really like to see more rides at HS that are suitable for the small kids. They need something of a calibre similar to TSM to take some of the heat off that ride. I know they have lots of shows, but for at least a few more years, youngest dd is stuck with TSM, GMR, and the backlot tour, there really isn't anything else. The idea of a villains focused attraction or show (at MK?) is quite interesting; I definitely enjoy the villains at MNSSHP, it would be interesting to see if they could do something year round.

I agree with you about Jeremy Irons/Judi Dench & the video on Spaceship Earth. They ruined a great attraction, IMO.

I'd like to see Carousel of Progress updated. That last scene is just so...90s. :headache:

In addition, I'd like to see something else at Indiana Jones. That attraction is way overdue for demolition!

The Great Movie Ride needs updating too.

I think GMR needs updating.
I also think CoP needs attention. It makes me sad that it seems like CoP has gone by the wayside. It was one of my fave attractions as a kid.

I disagree. Isn't the entire point of this ride to show folks the great movies? The theme of the park is classic Hollywood, and to me at least, it's entirely appropriate and fitting to show the classic movies.

I know some folks would like to see more 'up to date' films featured on this ride, but not me. Keep the classics in there. It's a great dark ride and a great way to experience the magic of classic cinema.

I agree with a lot of your points. I also miss "Tomorrow's Child"- the interactive thing is neat but it could be better.

I always thought Soarin' should have been made "over Florida" instead of California.

I miss the Dreamfinder, either bring him back or completely change it, and bring back some of the good things in the Imageworks area. Captain EO was great in the 80's but I never could understand why they brought that back, and kept it so long.

I also miss the Life pavilion, Cranium Command was a great show/attraction. My dad was commenting on our recent trip and I agree, that with everyone all into "Natural" and "Healthy", etc why wouldn't they take advantage of that pavillion again.

GMR could use an update, maybe just a couple of the scenes.

I'm totally with you on this. I like a 'time capsule ride'. Updates for me should be refurbs and additions of newer tech without compromising the original rides integrity. That being said, fixing rides that have been 'upgraded' to add new not so relevant characters (Stitch, I'm looking at you) need some help!
I'm excited about the Tiki Room being brought back to moe of its original intent.
Add some new things in unused areas and save some classics as they were originally for posterity.

I agree with being disappointed in the Spaceship Earth refurb. I still like it mind you, but no Jeremy Irons?...No Tomorrow's Child? Sacrilege!

I'm in the crowd that says, "How about some love for the Carousel of Progress? I mean come on, it's pure Disney and should be completely updated and refurbed!

And while I am a huge fan of EPCOT, there is just too much wasted space there. Let's get something done with the Imagination and Wonders of Life pavilions!!!!!

All that being said, WDW is still my favorite place on this earth and overall I think the Disney Team does a fantastic job!

This thread would be a better fit on the theme parks community board, so I'm going to move it there now.

I agree with there being a lot of wasted space at EPCOT... I know I may get shot for this but... How about putting something IN the lagoon? I know it doesn't exactly fit in EPCOT, but how about Aeriel?
In the movie she and her sisters sing beautifully, maybe put a few little islands on the outsides of the lagoon and put some of the mermaids on them and they can sing at different times of the day (I know, it would cause traffic issues with people stopping to watch, but I think it would be neat.

Also, I'm SUPER excited for the expansion of the MK! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE BELLE'S CASTLE!:woohoo::dance3::cheer2:

I heard there's going to be a Cars land or something... boring... they could update the old car ride or the Indy Speedway to Cars themed instead, using the newest cars movie they made. I'm not a huge fan of cars anyway...

Also, maybe update the people mover? Give it some kind of theme? Liven it up a bit? Basically the only thing I've ever heard about it was that it was a great place for a nap.

Reopen Wonders of Life . I was only in it once in 96 and only got to see The Making of Me. I also rode one of those bikes.
