What will the Treasure be like?

I've read a lot of reviews about the Wish and listened to a lot of podcasts about it. Even those who are Disney apologists and extremely positive about all things Disney have had some harsh criticisms of it. Even the positive reviews that I heard had a lot of things peppered in about how cramped and crowded the areas were, especially the MDRs. .

So do we think Disney is "hearing" the feedback and will make any adjustments on the Treasure? Or was it already in motion and too late at that point?

I expect each ship within a class (Magic, Dream, Triton) to be similar in the broad sense. They build on a set of plans and make tweaks and theming changes.

But don’t expect the size of areas to be significantly different. Even in Triton #3.

It‘s pretty much this way across the cruising industry. To get something new within a cruise line, look for for a new class of ship.

I guess that's what I hear the most, but that's pretty general. What specifically doesn't work about the layout?

The "build" of the ship will be very similar if not exactly the same. All three ships in this class are going to be sister ships. So same bones but may have slight variations. Like the Dream and the Fantasy. Overall, they're VERY similar but they do each have a couple unique things.

It would be extremely unlikely any major changes are being made to the treasure after feedback from the Wish. The layout of the ship is likely going to get the same complaints the Wish did.

The big problem with the Wish from what I see is most newbie cruises LOVE her, seasoned cruisers don't HATE her but she isn't anywhere near their favorite ship.

Venue spaces are small

Hyperspace lounge hypes - but underdelivers - on the Star Wars theming (they say the kids’ clubs SW area is way better)

Adult pool area is small, overly sunny.

Hallways seem to dead end. (Maybe it was a signage issue, early on)

Change in old ship look to one of a conference hotel.

Tables in MDRs are very close - making private table nearly a misnomer.

That’s 6. But ones I have seen repeated in reviews (relying on memory).

In addition to the issues auntlynne mentioned, I've seen these complaints repeatedly about differences between the Wish and the other Disney ships:

There is no walking track that goes all around the ship. There is a path around most of the ship, but it includes stairs.

The adult bars are scattered around the ship and are not in a single area.

Much of the decor is based on Disney movies and characters, including Marvel and Star Wars.

I have not been on the Wish, but from reading reports from people who have, it appears that the Wish is more different from the other ships than the Dream/Fantasy are from the Magic/Wonder.

The Treasure will almost certainly be more similar to the Wish than to the other ships in its layout and in the degree to which the decor is based on Disney content (although there is plenty of Disney content on the earlier ships as well).

I think there is no chance that Triton 3 will be a sister to the Dream class rather than being a member of the Wish class. The three ships were part of a contract with the shipbuilder, and undoubtedly priced to reflect reuse of the design, tooling, etc. From a mechanical design perspective, there is the significant difference in the propulsion system with the switch to LNG fuel.

It was stated at our gold, platinum, pearl reception a couple of weeks ago that Disney had gotten a lot of feedback from both cruisers and crew about the Wish. We were told that there would be lots of changes coming to the Treasure. Of course, no specifics, so we will all have to wait and see what “lots of changes” means.

Spot on in your recollections.

The running track / Deck 4+ Promenade is a major blunder for many people. Maybe the most glaring.

Was on the Wish MV and while the ship is gorgeous my biggest complaint was that I felt more disconnected from the ocean which is what I cruise for. I love how walking inside on the other Disney ships you are always passing huge windows that you can look out and see the water. The Wish does not really have that. To see out huge windows you are in a high end shop, not a public space. The hallways are more inside and not along the "wall" of the ship. I felt I had to make a specific effort to go to the sides of the ship to look out windows.

When talking to many crew about it we were told that this class of ship is designed to look like a hotel more than a ship. The Wish has a much less nautical feel to it.

The spaces were beautiful except the Hyperspace Lounge......totally under themed except for the screen. The kids club did indeed have superior themeing to the lounge.

I also didn't like the design of Luna which is the two story adult venue where they do game shows and things. It is literally in the middle of a hallway with no way to get from the top to level to the bottom level without going all the way back to an elevator bank if you could not do steps. The Karaoke lounge right by it often was so loud you could not hear what was going on in Luna.

I felt the same walking on the ship, when the CM introducing us was in a Fantasyland type costume, not a Cruise Staff costume. Some other little things also gave me the vibe they didn't want you to feel you were going on a cruise, but going off into a fairytale. I cruise to feel like I'm on a cruise!

And I totally agree about Luna, location and set up was not great! They need the adult area secluded. We had kids looking over the balcony watching trivia. When the host said something the Dad popped over and said it’s ok they are just watching, not playing. Also on this cruise we had the funniest/most R rated answer I have ever heard at Match Your Mate. It took the hosts about 5 minutes to compose themselves and go on. I can only imagine if the kids had been up there listening to that....
