What were your favorite restaurants/meals that are now closed/discontinued?

We also loved the Crystal Palace (yes it was called the Crystal Palace back then) when it was cafeteria style. DH and I always got the fruit plate with the yogurt. It was so good and refreshing!

I miss our two favorite breakfasts - Tony's and Garden Grill. Both are still open, but neither one serves breakfast anymore. :(

I also really miss Spoodles being open for lunch.

Of course, the BCV opened, and Ariel’s didn't, so I figured that idea had floundered.

Another good idea Scuttled!

I miss key lime pie at the Odyssey.

I fondly remember Minnie's Mennehune breakfast, but that needed a new name so people could pronounce it.

I liked sandwiches and table service at the Diamond Horseshoe complete with dancing girls.

I remember when the Garden Grill gave everyone straw hats and served breakfast.

I miss the chicken salad "handwich" from Sleepy Hollow. It was so Disney!

I also miss the make-your-own pizzas at Fort Wilderness and the plain old fast food in the Marketplace. Before McD's there used to be a Minnie pizza shop and a Pluto hot dog shop. Now, except for McD's, your choices are limited to more upscale stuff

I fondly remember both Lite Bite and Goofy's Grill as fast-food spots in the Disney Village Marketplace. I also really miss Bonfamille's. Boatrights is fine, but it just feels like its over in another resort, not part of Port Orleans... :D :D :D

My parents were showing my DFH and I pictures from our old disney vacations and were arguing over a restaurant we used to eat at at the Poly whenever we went and that it served Steak with onion rings and pineapples. They said they were very disappointed when we went back years later and it was gone. Does anyone remember this restaurant.

I so miss the Adventureland Veranda. They had yummy pineapple topped cheeseburgers. They also had tasty key lime pie and a cold lo mein noodle salad. I wish they would bring it back. :(

I also lament the demise of the Fireworks Factory. Great BBQ and desserts.

The Odyssey, The Land Grille Room - the way it used to be and esp. the yummy cheese bread, Chef Mickeys - when it was in the marketplace, The Empress Lilly........ :(

Since this nifty thread has resurfaced, here's a couple of obscure ones - and I promise I'm not making these up:

Heidelbergers (or, maybe, Heidleberg's) Deli at the Marketplace (then the WDW Village) - some palm-stretching sandwiches and great potato salad, if you were so inclined.

And the Lake Buena Vista Club. We received personalized matchbooks, I remember, and had a cracked peppercorn steak prepared tableside. Pretty elegant.

I think it mutated into the Pompano Grill, or something.

Does anyone remember "handwiches"?

Remember the "handwiches"! They came in rather handy when ours were little ones and you needed to juggle a kid and a bite to eat! :D They were only available at limited counter services though as I recall.

Rosie Redhots was a must for us anytime we were at MGM. It introduced my kids to "footlongs", and was the best fastfood location in WDW.
Fireworks Factory, good barbeque, good fun, great drinks. The replacements have been terrible- I can't even remember what is there now?
The Deli(was it Heidlebergs ?) at Disney Marketplace or whatever it was called when it first opened. Always a stop for a super late night sandwhich. It was sort of a hometown feeling kind of place.
A gazillion years ago my wife took our two oldest to breakfast on the Empress Lily- we still have the juice cup- one of the turning points in making us WDWphiles.
Remember the fruit drinks in the plastic fruit shaped containers. We kept an orange for forever until a dog ate it. We thought we were in tall cotton with those drinks.:) :) :) :)

Although I don't remember the plastic juice-shaped cups, I do remember a breakfast on the Empress Lilly-it was a character breakfast and at the time, it was the only place on property where Donald Duck ate breakfast. He was DS's favorite character.

Definitely:

Tangaroa Terrace for Breakfast...ohhhh those Mickey Mouse Belgian Waffles....

Papeetee Bay Verandah....when they had the all you can eat Stir Fry Lunch.

Those were the exact two I was thinking of. I miss them both they were both so awesome. Rich:D

YES, YES & YES!!!

I used to love those! Wonder why they discontinued them? They seemed to be popular in the early 90s.

I forgot all about those fruit shaped juice bittles! They used to sell those on :Produce Carts" at the MK as well. I looked forward to those things every time we went.

Does anyone remmebr the Seven Seas Scoops at Narcoosee's? It was the predecessor to the Kitchen Sink, only bigger. I once watched my Dad's best friend devour one by himself though! I don't know if he ekpt it down, but he got it down anyway.

Do they still have the banana stuffed french toast at the Poly?
Looking at this thread just reminded me of that. That was delicious!

I'm probably one of the few, but I really liked Flagler's at the GF before they renovated the space and made it Citrico's. I also miss the buffet breakfast at Tangaroa Terrace at the Polynesian. Barbecue and cornbread at Fireworks Factory at Pleasure Island. Ah--the memories!

:)

You're not one of the few, Misti! LOL I liked Flagler's too. However .. I like Citricos better ;)

Just a menu item that I miss, from LTT - their shrimp & grits!! I was so disappointed over the summer when I found they no longer had this. In fact, it was like a week before my arrival that they took it off the menu! :(

My mother in law and I absolutely loved Minnie Mia's which was located where Wolfgang Puck Express is now located in Downtown Disney.
