What were your favorite restaurants/meals that are now closed/discontinued?

I loved "Broadway at the Top," and while CG is my favorite restaurant @ WDW, I'd trade it in an instant for the classic.

I prefered King Stephan's to Cindy's; not for the food, but for the atmosphere. I loved the puter goblets!

Ariels was the best restaurant at the Y&B, and rumor has it, it may be coming back.

Flagler's was better than Citircos, and cheaper!

The Odyssey <sp> @ Epcot was a very convenient fast food place.

The Liberty Tree Tavern was better a la carte than family style as well.

Minnie Mia's was fun. So was the buffet breakfast at Spoodle's.

I too really enjoyed the open air cafe that was once in France. It was very authentic.

Goofy's Grill. That was a fun neat place for a quick bite.

We used to eat lunch at Spoodles several times each trip, and we still miss it. And when the "cousins" messed with the menu at 'Ohana's, it took a little adjusting to.

Ouch... a bittersweet topic.

The Gulf Coast room at the CR ... my first dinner with my new bride.

Top of the World had a lunch menu with an entree and a spectacular salad bar.

On the Empress Lily - the Empress Room. Had that gold-domed ceiling, and was my first experience with truly elegant dining. Boy, was it something.

And I liked the Biergarden much more when it was table service.

Never got to try Ariels, tho ... what a crime.

Finally, the Adventureland Verandah. My favorite MK fast-food stop.

dreamfinder2 - I was reading all the responses to see if anyone would remember the Adventureland Verandah. That was a favorite of mine, too. I also miss the make-your-own pizzas at Fort Wilderness and the plain old fast food in the Marketplace. Before McD's there used to be a Minnie pizza shop and a Pluto hot dog shop. Now, except for McD's, your choices are limited to more upscale stuff (and more expensive). I'm not a big fast food person, but sometimes a slice of pizza or a hot dog is all I need.

The Odyssey at Epcot--forgot all about that one! They used to have really good burgers and it was in a great location.

:)

The Artist's Point breakfast with Pooh and friends. It was a really nice, quiet and intimate breakfast. The characters had a lot of time to interact with everyone, the food was great, as was the service... and the view was awesome. It was a nice little get away after EE morning at MK... just ride the boat over and catch one of the last seatings.

I would have loved to have eaten at Ariels. Last time we ate at Cape May Cafe, my DD and I wondered over to Ariels to look. The decor of that place was outstanding... just like you were dining on the bottom of the sea... what a waste!

Also Bonfamilles at PO-FQ was really a nice little restaurant!

I hate thaty we never got a chance to see and eat at Broadway at the top!

And we too, miss the Adventureland Veranda!

Ariel's at the Yacht Club, it was such a beautiful restaurant and they had a chicken breast in puff pastry with champagne sauce that I totally loved. Very low calorie too (yeah, right!) I would LOVE for that restaurant to come back! Lin

Bonfamilles at Port Orleans. Great, especially for breakfast. Loved the atmosphere and the beignettes.

Au Pettit Cafe at EPCOT. It was a nice restaurant, but the seating in Chefs de France where the cafe use to be is so nice that it's hard to miss it too much.

Soundstage Restaurant at MGM Studios. Good food, great atmosphere, and some great characters.

I miss very much:

Ariels at Y&B- elegant w/ great theming. I'd love to see this reopen.

Tangaroa Terrace at Poly- excellent breakfast buffet. Especially miss the fresh waffle station w/ choice of toppings. This is also the first place I had Tonga Toast.

Tony's Town Square breakfast.

Odyssey Restaurant at Epcot.

We've been on weeklong vacations where we've eaten breakfast EVERY morning at Tangaroa Terrace, so, I guess we miss that place, lol.

One of my favorites was Flagler's....The singing waiters were great. The first time we went there we liked it so much we went back the next night.

We also liked the Empress Lily Room....That WAS the name of the place on the top floor of where Fulton's is now, right? We went there on our honeymoon, and at that time I think that was the most expensive joint on property....We were on the Grand Plan and I bought a sportcoat so we could go there....

We used to always eat the first night at Papetee Bay Verandah.....

Tony's for breakfast, sitting outside after enjoying all the Fantasyland attractions on an EE day, watching the latecomers arriving!

The Lava Cake @ Flying Fish!!! We dined there our 1st nite of our honeymoon, and everything was wonderful---> till we found out that they discontinued the Lava Cake 'cause some other places started to serve it or something......

Favorite rsrnt- The Yhatsman Steakhouse (sp-sorry) best prime rib and the service was excellent! Plus a 20 oz Bud Lite draft in a huge frosted goblet was like $5...... keep 'em coming waiter!!!
We went 2 times on our honeymoon in Sept!!

Garden Grill Breakfast
Tony's Town Square Breakfast
Seasons Dining Room
Catwalk Bar

I miss the Mickey head shaped pizza at Pasta Piazza Ristorante at Epcot. There was nothing fantastic about the pizza itself, it was fine. This was just one of the nice touches that makes Disney special from other parks .

Most of my former favorites have already been mentioned-Top of the World Brunch, Bonfamiles at POFQ, and also Crystal Palace when it was a cafeteria (and I think it was still called Crystal Palace then).
But no one misses "Wake up, you silly moose!"? I really enjoyed the Melvin the Moose character breakfast at Fort Wilderness. We're taking my son to WDW for his college graduation and spending 2 days at FW to "relive childhood"(first took him there 15 years ago). We wanted to relive a character meal but then we realized-all the character meals we took him to when he was little are now gone! He expecially wanted to "re-live" Melvin!

We miss having Breakfast at Tony's. We would always visit parts of the park and then have a late breakfast. We really enjoyed the sweet rolls that you got with your breakfast. We ate here on every trip.

When my DW and I were at the BC in May we asked about a resort tour. I have read in several places that the Y&B offer these tours, but the front desk seemed to have no idea about them. They obliged anyway, and sent us around with one of the concierge hosts to tour the resort. She was very well informed, despite her impromptu performance. When we came to Ariel’s, she mentioned that it was now used for private parties, wedding receptions, and convention dining; however, she mentioned that when the Beach Club Villas opened, so may Ariel’s. Of course, the BCV opened, and Ariel’s didn't, so I figured that idea had floundered. But, when we were back at the YC prior to a cruise we took in September, we were given a formal survey outside the lobby that was specific to the resort. Two of the questions pertained to dining; the first concerned a full-time counter service restaurant at the Beach Club (sorry, I don't remember the specifics), and the second asked specifically what kind of fine dining we would like to see offered at he Yacht or Beach club (the answers included seafood, dinner theater, show kitchen, another choice I don't remember now, and other). Based on these questions, it appears that the resurrection of fine dining at the BC is, at least, still on the minds of R&D.
