What were your assumptions about the world as a child?

So like Garp's toad waiting under water at Ocean surf to drown him????

As a child living in the California Mojave desert wilderness... every thing wanted to kill me for dinner

...that smoking and drinking beer made you very poor....as we where the only children sitting in the 1960s California taverns

not my assumption but a childhood friend thought that when her dad worked 'swing shift' it meant he had been 'good' at work and got to work on a playground with swings but if he misbehaved he had to work 'graves' and was assigned to work in the cemetary :rotfl: (in her defense-her dad worked at the navel shipyard which had neighborhoods with parks and swings as well as at least one military cemetary).

As a young kid through about middle school time frame, I always thought it was amazing that I was born AFTER all the wars had taken place and was so lucky to live in a peaceful world that would forever and always be peaceful. Though somehow at the same time I was also pretty worried about potential nuclear war with the USSR.

As a kid - I always wondered why ‘they’ didn’t just fly up and squeeze the clouds to make it rain during a draught.
