I divided and planted hostas in an area that has been barren for alot of years. These guys did well....they are established plants and managed to overcome drought conditions.
I also redid my other sun/shade area. Didn't survive as well as the hosta garden, but it has some real potential!
I had lots of plants far exceed my expectations this year! One area was next to my garage that gets no sun whatsoever - it is shaded by a pear tree and a maple. I have not been able to grow much there in all my attempts - not even ferns! Well, I found some Foam Flower on clearance at my nursery for $2 (reg. $7.99), and thought I'd try them - and they look great. They are really thriving! I even found one type of hosta that will grow there, and Lady's Mantle too!
Pretty much everything else is doing very, very well. I divided a bunch of stuff just the other day and moved things around a bit - can't wait to see it next year!
So nice reading about everyone's gardening pleasures.
Without a shadow of a doubt, mine is my hydrangea that came back from the dead. Here's a link to view the pictures again: Miracle Hydrangea! Like a proud momma, I love viewing the photos.
The jasmine we bought in Maryland years ago that moved to Florida with us. It lived in a pot for years and hardly grew (was neglected...) I planted him last year and this year he took off! I have to cut him back soon and try rooting the cuttings. The fragrance is wonderful and he looks so happy in his new home!
My infamous purple coneflowers!!!! But also the $4 rose bush that I bought at WalMart because I didn't want to spend alot of money on roses if they weren't going to do well..this plant did AWESOME!!!!
Also, the landscaping project that I did...it took alot of work and I still look at it and smile!
I have another Gardening Pleasure. The coreopsis (Tickseed) I planted earlier this summer are STILL blooming! I think I did something right this time around. Since I love showing off my photos - Here's the link to refresh your memories:
Coreopsis are great plants. They bloom and bloom. This year I purcased a pink one and it's still blooming. I think I need more of these plants. Even through the drought and the heat it kept blooming.
