What was your favorite experience from a DCL ship?

Was a Make A Wish cruise for my daughter:

Number 1 thing was just to see the smiles coming from my little princess and family at the sailaway celebration, brought tears to my eyes...to put all the worlds troubles behind us for a few days was great.... :thumbsup2

Only one cruise under our belt so far, but my personal favorite experience was from Peter Pan. I had met him while wandering the ship one night and we had a nice long chat (no kids around). We saw Alice bouncing around and started talking about her. I mentioned that I hadn't seen her movie because I thought it was a little weird. The next day at the character signing table my daughter was getting signatures and Peter looks up and then nudges Alice and says "He doesn't like you".

I had to quickly stammer an apology to Alice and explain I liked *her* just not her movie. I imagine the other people in line thought it rather funny that a grown man was apologizing to Alice.

The Snow White kiss story is what it's all about. Those little touches warm your heart.

The first cruise the most amazing memories were of my workaholic DH sitting on the verandah just watching the ocean. He looks so peaceful, without stress for the first time in years. I'll never forget it.

This year as our names were announced on the ship we heard Nombuso from the deck 4 railing saying our names and then calling to all 3 of our kids by name, greeting us with a hug and telling us how glad she was that we were back. Then running into many other CMs who remember you by name year after year. You feel as if you are returning home and they make you feel so welcome.

Then there was Ken from room service and the fruitcake incident (which brought some amazing people into our lives). Kerry a counselor in the Lab who will never admit to decorating our door so beautifully (she was one of the kindest people I have ever met). Erika who was a concierge at the time who wasn't happy with how my DD's picture with the Fairy Godmother (my DD's favorite character) and arranged to have another picture taken and signed. Erika did so many things that year to make our trip amazing.

It amazes me how I could go on and on. There are so many magical experiences every year.

I loved this one so much I even wrote a bit about it on my comment card.

This April was our first cruise ever, so we were just amazed by it all. During times the characters were around we always tried to go see them. One evening after dinner, the Fairy Godmother was outside Studio Sea. There was no one around at that time, she was due to leave in 5 minutes or so. Anyway, DD saw her, and her face just lit up. The godmother saw her coming, and DD took off in towards her. The godmother got on her knees, arms extended, and just scooped DD up & gave her a huge hug. She said "Did you see my Cinderelly down there?" and DD said "yes, I just went to see her" and they chatted for quite a while. It was just an amazing moment to watch.

Now I really want to go back. ;)

These are just so amazing. Please, keep this thread going - nothing has made me more excited for our cruise.:cloud9:

Seeing sorcerer's apprentice Mickey in AP. He is my favourite Mickey after the traditional one. You never see SAM at WDW or DL or at least I haven't.

Hi
My very first cruise
My first 7 days cruise,
The friends I've made & stayed in touch on many cruise :goodvibes
!st Palo .........all of my first on the Disney magic very found memories .

My favorite moment was our Christmas Cruise, my wife and I were watching the lighting of the tree when it started to snow, and she started to cry, she just turned to me and said I love you, merry Christmas. Just seeing how happy she was to be on that ship with it snowing, Ill never forget it.

I've got two, one on our first DCL cruise, and one on the last one (we've done 4 so far):

1. On our first, a 3 night, DD who was 6 at the time, was very attached to her pillow and pillowcase, so she decided to carry it onto the ship. Here we go, through the Mickey Head, and she decides to run WAY ahead because she is so excited to be there. So she comes RUNNING onto the ship, carrying her pillow, and all the CM's broke out in applause, and she turned around and gave us the biggest grin we had ever seen. Of course, the camera was in the suitcase :confused3 .

2. On our last cruise, DH had brought a picture of Ariel in a frame onboard the ship secretly, to have it "signed" by Ariel and given to DD. She LOVES mermaids and wants really badly to believe they are real. We gave the picture to concierge to get it signed. The next night, we were coming back from the show, and DD (then 8) walked into the cabin, to see the surprise that "Ariel" had left for her on the bed. Ariel had written a note to DD, and signed it "your friend Ariel". There was sparkly confetti all over the bed, and going from the bed to the floor, to the verandah door, and out on the verandah; it looked as if Ariel had jumped onto the verandah, come into the cabin, and placed the picture on the bed, leaving behind "mermaid pixie dust". DD said "I KNEW it was true, mermaids ARE real!". I cried like a baby!

That picture now hangs in my DD's bedroom.

thanks guys.i now look like a real idiot, crying at my computer.

Wonderful stories......
cant wait for my first!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I'll give you a few.

Standing quietly just behind the photographer watching Mickey and Minnie pose for pictures with people. DD2 LOVES Minnie and we came upon the shoot - but they had already cut it off because it was almost time for the characters to have a break. The photographer looked a bit nervous telling me this - makes me wonder if they don't get complaints. But, I reassured him that was fine, and would it be ok if we just stood behind and watched - as DD2 just wanted to watch Minnie. She was SO good standing there quietly watching and not causing any distractions for the people getting their pictures taken. Every now and then she would do a shy wave at Minnie and in between families, Minnie would do a quick wave or blow a quick kiss back - lighting up the face of my little one. When the photo session was finished, they exited right past us and Minnie bent down and gave DD2 a big hug before walking by. I WISH I had my camera ready - but it was SO fast. The joy on my baby's face melted my heart.

Another one - The look on DD2's face when Prince Charming from Twice Charmed ran up the aisle right next to her! :cloud9:

And another - Laughing with DS9 SO many times, I think my sides still ache! :teeth:

And another - laughing at DS9 saying "AAARRR me matey's" to everyone on pirate night and DD2 saying "AAARRR me kitty's", right behind him - we still don't know why she thought it was kitty's. :rotfl2:

And this one - my little princess dressed as Snow White hugging Snow White. princess:

I was just looking through the picture a day thread and saw that a few minutes ago. Totally melted my heart. I can not wait to get on board.

Add me to the list of those crying at the computer.I love these wonderful stories!

Wow! By far the best thread I've ever read.

Ours? Probably when I sang "Hey Mickey" on stage with the band while my girls did a conga line dance with the female singer who relinquished her mike!

Also, snorkeling in Castaway Cay with my DD8. It was her first time to snorkel. To get to share such an exciting first time experience with her was a blessing.

Reading all of these has made my heart smile.

For me - although I loved the characters and parasailing with my husband at Castaway cay was absolutely awesome - when I think of the magic of our Disney Cruise, I think of our room attendent. My cousin had given both DS's rolling backpacks in anticipation of our cruise. Somewhere in our travels, a screw came out of the handle of DS7's backpack, so he couldn't "roll" it anymore. One day I asked our room attendent (who's name I can't remember at the moment, I am ashamed to say!) if he could possibly find us a screw to fit the handle somewhere on this huge ship? The next day, I asked him if he had any luck, and the reply was "yes, Ma'am - it's in." Not only did he find me a screw, he fixed the handle! To me, that summed up the service and magic of a Disney cruise.

My other favorite memory was at supper our last night. We had planned this trip a year in advance and stretched ourselves a bit to have a family vacation after both DH and I finished school. I asked the boys "If we could do another big vacation like this, what would you want to do - two weeks in Disney with all the parks, all the rides, and the big pool in the hotel? Or 2 days in the parks and a week on the cruise like we did this time?" DS7 replied - "Mom, I would want 1 day in the parks and 2 weeks on the cruise!". It made all the scrimping and saving well worth it, and is why we have another one booked for next fall! :yay:

Just remembered  - his name was Calvin! He was great, and the kids couldn't wait to go back to the cabin every night to see what kind of towel animal he made. The service we received from him, and our servers Joyce and Susan, went a long way towards making our trip magical.

This is a great thread.

Loved the mermaid and snow white story's so much I had to share them with my coworker.

For me, i think it is when we first walked aboard the Magic. We had just gotten married at WDW 2 days before, so we were on our honeymoon. We had on our bride and groom ears and everything. They asked my DH what our last name was to announce us, and I had never really been called with my new last name before. So to hear it over the entire atrium and being called the newlyweds was just magical!

I have to agree that one of the best stories and best evidences of Disney magic are the Snow White kisses. That is so special.

I love being a Disney nerd! :cheer2:
