Beavis & Butthead Land
Jack *** Land
Courage the Cowardly Dog Land

the list is endless

I couldn't help myself...

Can someone explain what the trashy shows are on ABC Family? I am completely unaware of that channel.

Also, OP, I think if when you hear the offensive lyrics, you should cover your child's ears and scream. Just start shrieking and pointing at the speakers. And maybe muster up a few tears.

Or we can just agree that it's Lawrence Welk or nothing in the parks. Just complete silence.

A PP mentioned something about their child's "innocent ears." I get wanting to protect your children for as long as you can, but at some point (and frankly earlier than you'd wish) they hear what you didn't want them to hear. The real question is: What are they going to do when they hear it? How will they react? and, most importantly, will they grow up to be good people?

It today's world of 24/7 media, I'm not sure you can shelter your kids from outside influences for as long as earlier generations could have been sheltered.

Wait.. You guys are going back and fourth on a song but probably let your kids watch disney movies? Peter Pan talks a bought fighting, killing, fighting over a guy and racist. Hercules, um hello meg? Super sexual and try's to use her sexuality to get what she wants no? Pocahontas, the way she drawn and moves is not at all in line with how old she's suppose to be in real life. The rescuers down under has a picture of naked ****s in it. Kids aren't reading that much into, relax.

1. To answer your first question: Pretty Little Liars, Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Lying Game, Twisted, The Fosters, Baby Daddy
I wouldn't allow my children to watch ANY of them.

2. I may not be able to shelter them forever but I will try as long as I can because I am their parent and I alone get to decide what is and isn't appropriate for them to see or hear. Not you, not Hollywood, and certainly not those in charge of playlists at Disneyworld.

Yup and thats when you use your super parental skills and say "oh let's go over there, it looks interesting"and lead child away from your objectivity

I shouldn't have to lead them away. It's Disney for crying out loud! There shouldn't be anything objectionable at Disney! They would stop someone at a gate for sporting a racey tshirt or a tattoo of a naked woman but a song like that is ok?
On what planet??

....in your house. Inside your house with all electronic devices turned off. That is when you can shelter them. Not when the computer is on...or radio...or TV...or iPad.

But especially, when you leave the house. You can't shelter them anymore unless we all agree to live in a world of complete silence...where there is no music playing in the background of any stores and no one talks. Conversations between two adults can be overheard by children, too! So WDW or not, you cannot shelter them the way you wish outside of your house.

Unless we agree to live in a world of silence.

At no point did I intend to infer you were unreasonable. Where I find fault with your argument is how does one determine what is family friendly. That question does not imply that Blurred Lines is family friendly. It means just what it says. And who makes that determination

What is family friendly to you may not be to another.

My point is if there is no question that blurred lines is far from family friendly and it is obviously inappropriate, so it should not be played in a disney park. Duh. I am not saying that I get to determine what is family friendly on a song by song basis. But come on, this particular song should be a no brainer. No one is going to argue that it is family friendly. Can't we agree to keep the OBVIOUS ones out?

And we shouldnt have to conform to your thought of standards. And btw ive seen many tattoos of naked women in wdw. Know what I do? I distract my children's sight away from it.

Speaking of naked women tattoos, can you believe that women have the audacity to breastfeed in the parks?! Do they have no shame? I don't want my nieces or nephews to have to see all that! :stir:popcorn::

I'm sure your 21 year old son is on his fb seeing worse lol jk! Kinda :) people these days.

I think when you walk Into disney they should give everybody a free over sized tee shirt. No?

You keep using the word "conform". I am thinking "respect". That's what it comes down to. Having respect for other people.

Sure. The question returns to, what is obviously family friendly and who determines it?
To you (and me, I really do agree with you about the song, that's not my issue here) Blurred Lines is obvious
To someone else the song (whatever that song is) that offends them is just as obvious. To them at least.
So my question and issue is, just how to determine what is obviously offensive. Do they (Disney) determine it based on 1 complaint? Does it take 10 to make the list? Some other arbitrary criteria?
