What to Expect the Week After Thanksgiving?

Hi everyone! I've been a long time lurker and it's my first time posting.

We are booked at ASMu for the week after Thanksgiving. Undercover tourist crowd calendar shows that week to have "average" crowd levels. We've been to WDW many times before and are recent AP holders, but have never gone during the holidays. What should we realistically expect for crowd levels? Any insights would be appreciated!

Thank you:tinker:

Curious about this myself as we are arriving at the GF that Sunday after Thanksgiving and staying the week. Doing the Christmas Party at the MK that Sunday and Tuesday.

My favorite week to visit the world. I find the mon-wed to be the lowest crowds, thursday is when it starts to build back up but still nice and then friday-sunday the bubble bursts and the xmas visitors are there.. It's also the first week everything with the xmas holiday is going on so all the gingerbreads and resorts are done, epcot starts it's holiday festivities. Disney also tends to film the dec 25th holiday tv show and parade that week. (some exceptions). You can actually guage the crowd by the filming. If you hear around early november that they are filming in nov, this week will be mega crowds. If you don't, then press should start to say something just before thanksgiving and it's a very empty week :).

There is a catch22 that there is the holiday amount of CMs who have extra time off that week so half the park tends to be castmembers and that's about half the crowd.

Thanks for the reply.

So from the research I have been doing its safe to say pretty much all the parks and resorts will be fully decorated that week?

Typically it's a good time to go. However, If you're talking about going this year, Free dining was offered the week after Thanksgiving, something that doesn't happen often.

We have been going Thanksgiving week and the week after since 2004... The last time it was it was offered the parks were unusually crowded too. I'll admit we are a little nervous about the crowds this year and that's never something that concerns us for that week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's not going to be as bad as we think!!!!

And yes, hotels/parks should all be decorated by then! Best part about our whole trip! It's magical!!

My family is going this week as well. We went last year (2015) the week before Easter and left that Saturday the day before the holiday. Is it fairly safe to assume the crowds will be at least lower than our last trip?

I have seen varying reports of what to expect this year. We were not overwhelmed during that Spring Break trip so we assume we will be fine not matter this time...!

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I guess we will just hope for the best in terms of crowd levels and relish in the Christmas decorations abound!

It should be. Generally by thanksgiving the resorts with the elaborate gingerbread houses are done and epcot has converted from food and wine to the holidays. I think epcot officially starts it stuff that monday.

Holiday Around the World always starts the day after Thanksgiving.
