what to do

We have done both POP and AKL. Given the choice, of course I would pick AKL. But we had absolutely no problems with POP, except our bed was very uncomfortable. I have read here that many find their beds comfortable, so we must have gotten an old mattress or something.

What I considers pros to POP: price, theming, quick transportation, better food court than other values and pool. Cons: smaller rooms, at times noisy, thin walls and no restaurants.

Pros to AKL: theming, bigger rooms, access to animals, free children's programs, deluxe amenities and good restaurants.

Cons: price, transportation is slow at times.

AKL is by far our favorite resort, I could spend a week there and not leave. Last trip we took time to go over there, eat at Boma and sit by the fire outside.

Good luck with your decision!

And with people in their 30's! :rotfl: My DH could suck down TWO before we got on the bus in the morning (and we like to get to the parks 45 min. before rope drop...). And, yes, you can use them for slushies! :lmao:
Wow, all the times I've been there, never knew about the slushy.
Can't wait to try it in Jan.

we have done both. we like the value resorts just fine the but the deluxes are very nice. the pool at AKL is awesome, it has a zero entry into the water and it has a water slide. also the animals are fun to watch. we had a savannah view room but it isn't a must. there are several lookout points around the resort to view the animals. if $500 isn't too much of a strain on your budget, i would do it. otherwise you can't go wrong with POP either.

I've stayed there 3 times and I absolutely love Pop Century! It's such a fun, whimsical place - perfect for families with children.. Good food (very reasonable) and one of the best transportation systems available..

You could do an awful lot of fun things with the extra $500 you would save by staying at Pop and I think your children would find it much more enjoyable..:goodvibes

I would definitely hang onto that $500 and do something extra special with it. Unless you're going to spend a LOT of time at the resort it's just not worth it. Have stayed at Pop 2x with NO problems whatsoever. It's a very cool resort, rooms are a bit smallish but CLEAN and comfortable.

Now saying that, I would love to stay at a deluxe one day.

But for this first trip, I honestly think it would be wise to stay at a value. Maybe next trip or after that you could start to "move up".

We are actually staying at AS Movies this next trip. We had POP reserved but thought it would be nice to stay someplace different. It is NOT a reflection on POP whatsoever.

I'd vote for Pop as well. Rooms are clean and the theming on the grounds is fun. Also, they have the BEST chicken soup I've ever had at the food court....YUM!

We're going in a few weeks and Pop was our 1st choice.

We've stayed at AKL and while it is very nice, been there, done that and don't feel the need to go back again! We've also stayed at All-Stars (not likely to do again), Dixie Landings (yes, I know it is Port Orleans Riverside now...but it's still Dixie Landings to me) and it's another favorite, Contemporary (loved the location but not the price tag), Polynesian (not at all like Hawaii...Hawaii is MUCH better), Carribean Beach (worst food court ever!), Dolphin (great rates for teachers and great location too), and Old Key West (another favorite).

Hope you enjoy wherever you stay!
