What to do with bags on rides

We were thinking about carrying a backpack thru disneyland.
Can anyone tell me what you should do with it on some of the wilder rides and the wet rides? Is it better to have a different kind of bag?

I carried a large backpack with me when we were there early November. Most of the rides I could put it down between my feet or between riders. On Splash Mtn I actually put the straps around an empty chair in our boat. Didn't get to wet. However the backpack was a baseball backpack that had more of a waterproof type canvas. My husband won't ride Space or Screamin so I just left the backpack with him on any rides he wouldn't go on.

Yea we have never had any problem just taking our backpacks on the rides with us. I carry my pocket size camera in a small camera case where I keep my cell phone too. I can usually keep this covered and dry with my sweatshirt.

I hate walking around wet so for SM I usually try to sit in back and make everyone else get wet :lmao:

No problem taking it on the rides like PP's have mentioned. When we ride GRR, we use one of their free lockers for our stuff while we are on the ride (they are to the left of the FP queue/GRR entrance).

We just use a standard back and take it with us on all the rides. If we are planning on going on Splash Mountain or GRR, we'll put valuables (camera, phones, wallets) into gallon-size ziplocs that we keep in the bag. Honestly, though... the appeal of getting wet has dimished, so we rarely do either of those rides.

The only ride that is really difficult is Space Mountain; I'm tall and it's hard enough to get my legs in AND THEN put the backpack between them... all in ten seconds.

I take a larger backpack that fits my DSLR camera and lenses. I take it on all the rides with me. I just stick it on the floor behind my legs and hold on to the top of it and don't have any problems.

I'm an avid photographer, so I have a 'full-size' camera bag, that can carry all my filters/lenses/cleaning supplies/accessories, but when in the parks I carry my 'go' bag that carries only one extra lens, one filter, basic cleaning supplies and wallet/cellphone.

The Go bag is padded, very small & conveniently designed. It is a Lowe-Pro Rezo.

I have always worn a "fanny pack" no problems. If I took it off, a lot of the rides have a place to put it. If not, I just held on to it.:thumbsup2

I took a large school sized backpack when we were in the parks! It was a slightly waterproof material but still had the potential I getting soaked. On splash I put the bag at my feet and just rested it on top of my foot so it wasn't touching any water puddles. I did the same on grizzly. I even took it on screaming and just put my legs through the straps so it wouldn't move :)

For Grizzly, really, use their free, secure, lockers. They are to the side of the line, behind the DVC kiosk. That ride can get WAY too wet for me to take a bag on.

Also, you can ask in the stores for a clear bag, and you can put a backpack/whatever into that bag for things like Splash. Or put your stuff inside the backpack in the plastic bag, whichever works better for you. :)

If you put your backpack on the floor of a ride, put one of your legs through a strap/the straps to keep the bag secure. Last year, California Screamin' was shut down for over a day because someone's backpack was not secured and fell out during the loop.

I have never had an issue with bringing a backpack. Just take it with you! :)

Our family is more of the minimalist mentality and it works as our kids are getting older now. We all have a side/shoulder packs and we carry only the bare essentials that will be needed for the day. Works well for us.:thumbsup2

I had no problem with a backpack at Magic Kingdom but all the rides there were relatively tame except to a small extent space mountain. I can't help but feel that I wouldn't be comfortable bringing a backpack on something that loops like California Screamin (seriously wouldn't it be a common occurance for someone's to fall?). Maybe part of that is conditioning though as the local amusement park here doesn't let you take a backpack on anything (they have spots to leave them by the entrance/exit - if the exit is on the otherside of the ride the workers pass them over to there) - of course that amusement park also has much more serious thrill rides than anything I've seen at Disney (height requirement is 52-56" on several of them). They also don't allow pregnant women on anything other than I think the Ferris Wheel and Carousel so I'm also always confused when I see pregnant people talking about going to Disney - all what you're used to! :)

I didn't get a chance to read through all the response but I know for a fact that grr has free lockers to use for the time you spend in line and on the ride. Splash mountain doesn't not have free lockers but I just protect my bag with my body and that usually does the trick lol

I brought my bag along on all the rides I went on (which is most of the rides, including California Screamin' and Space Mountain, but excluding the water rides i.e. Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Rapids). Didn't have a problem, though I did make sure to loop the strap around my leg for the coasters!

Also when I was at the Halloween Party I had an open shopper bag full of candy, and didn't have a problem bringing it on rides at all...
