Anyone have any suggestions for what to do for New Years Eve that is not at the main parks? We are blocked from Disney, we were just at Sea World, and Im not sure about the traffic at Universal with their big thing on City Walk.

I have 3 kids (17, 17, and 5) who are all capable of staying up, but obviously can't do any alcohol related things (City Walks thing is 21+).

We are staying at the Omni and my twins will be 18 on Jan. 1st so we want to do something special. I've been looking and just cant find anything that we can do with the kids.

I did see that a couple of Universal hotels have things going on but Im not sure if they are any good.

Anyway....any suggestions?

We always do Magic Kingdom on the 30th and then go to the beach at the Poly for NYE. If you have a dinner reservation at one of the Poly's restaurants you shouldn't have a problem parking there. It's cool watching the fireworks all around the castle.

You have Universal passes don't you? Are you on a black out on both parks there? I thought only on IOA??? check and see, maybe you can do the Studios there.. and meet up with me :thumbsup2

never mind... I just checked.. if you have the power, you are blacked out on both parks...:sad2:

I know there is a park near Lake Eola (can't spell) and they usually have something for the holidays.. have you checked them out .. I know they had an awesome July 4th display. I will see what I can find out on it for ya and post it

No fireworks planned at Lake Eola.. You can always go over to the BoardWalk and have a nice dinner there, then go to Beaches and Cream for their "Kitchen Sink" If you plan your timing right, you can hang around for the fireworks at EPCOT and watch them from the bridge between the BoardWalk & the Beach Club... :thumbsup2 It is a pretty decent view.

Depending on the floor you are in the Omni, you may be able to view some fireworks from your room.. not sure if SeaWorld will be having any.. I don't think Universal is doing fireworks this year.

You can also go to the store and get yourself a smores kit and go over to Fort Wilderness and join in the Sing-A-Long Campfire with Chip n' Dale.. I didn't double check to see if it is being held on NYE though..If it is, it is fun, even for "older" kids :thumbsup2 then depending on the movie afterward, you may want to stay and watch it.. You can also see the fireworks at the MK from the beach at Fort Wilderness as well..

Well last year we were in at Disney over NYE but didn't want to deal with the main parks so we went to the Boardwalk area and ate a dinner of pizza at an outside table and enjoyed the crowd and excitement.
By the time we were done eating i'd say 8-9pm or so they were passing out hats and horns to everyone and we browsed some shops for a bit while the crowds and excitment grew and then we REALLY enjoyed a big outdoor dance party outside the Boardwalk hotel in the big courtyard area. They had a DJ playing music all night and they did fun dances and silly line dances etc. My kids were 11 and 20 years old and we ALL had a blast. They had the big countdown to midnight etc. I want to stay this started around 8-9pm but definatly by 9om.
If i were going back I'd go back there for sure. We've just been talking about how much fun we had there last new years! and best of all it was CHEAP!!

Have Fun!
