We're spending two nights in Cocoa Beach before coming to WDW in June. Can you recommend anything else besides the space center for us (me, DH, DD (11) and DS (7)) to do? Thanks! :smooth:

South of Cocoa Beach is a town called Melbourne. I used to live there and they have a really really nice zoo. It's called the Brevard Zoo and they have a nice web site. There is also a baseball team that trains nearby and for the life of me I can't remember which team! Anyhoo, the zoo is worth a trip over there to see--it's on the north side of melbourne on Wickham road.....

The Brevard Zoo is pretty cool-they do a kids nightime flashlight
safari.....

You can get an "adult beverage" at the Tiki Bar at the Cocoa Beach Pier
and let the kids fish from the end of the boardwalk.....

There are some neat restaurants in Port Canaveral (Grills
is our favorite...

You can see lots of wildlife at the wildlife refuge at Merritt Island-you
might even see manatees.....

On the St John's River is a funky place called the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp-
they do a country hoedown on weekends (Sunday I think) and you
can eat gator, frogs legs, catfish and there are hamburegers, hotdogs, etc
for the more picky eaters-VERY old Florida and VERY fun!!!!!

Have a nice trip!

My kids love the Ron Jon shop and the beach!
That's the first thing I thought of also! I used to love going there as a kid. I also remember a restaurant that we frequented called Frankies Wings and Things. They had great peel and eat shrimp!

Thanks so much for all the info! The Lone Cabbage looks especially good! I look forward to that part of the trip! :goodvibes
