What to do during naps?

The family suites are extra great too because of the extra bathroom. What a timesaver in the mornings!
Haha I’m not sure the extra bathroom makes much difference to us. It’s just the three of us and either Dh or I will be watching Ds while the other gets ready

When we took our 14-month-old we stayed in a studio so we only had one living space but did have the balcony. I rented a crib and she took her naps and bedtime in the same room as us. During naps, one of us would walk around and enjoy the resort while the other relaxed in the room. At night, we were all tired so when she went to bed, so did we. Sometimes we scrolled our phones for awhile but it was actually nice getting to bed early and catching up on sleep!

We’re considering a cabin for our next trip where our daughter will be 2.5 years old. For those who have stayed in one, did your child sleep in the bedroom and you slept on the pullout in the living room?

We just stayed in the cabins. Our son slept in the pack n play in the bedroom with Dh. I slept on the pullout in the living room.

We nap on the go for the first nap, baby wearing. We sleep with them for the second. I turn out to be much more patient at Disney when I'm well rested. Never knew that until I had kids 🤣

Ok that’s good to know. Our daughter still sleeps in a crib at home so I’m debating whether or not to rent a crib on our next trip or just try her in the bottom bunk bed with a bed rail. I wonder if there is room in the bedroom for a crib. She won’t sleep in a pack and play.

We all took an afternoon nap. WDW is exhausting! Now that she is an adult, we still take the occasional nap when we aren’t taking a pool break.

Ds wouldn’t sleep in the pack n play for naps, only bedtime. I think because he was in a deeper sleep. For naps I laid him on the bunk bed surrounded by pillows and we watched him in the monitor. I would get bed rails next time and just watch him. I did nap with him a couple times. I’m not sure if a crib fits in there or not

Do the family suites have a fridge and microwave? Connecting rooms is a good idea! Dh mentioned that and that could be a good option for us. Ds doesn’t sleep on the go either and I actually like going back to relax for a bit. We live an hour away so we don’t need to be at the parks from open to close
only problem with connecting rooms is they are not bookable as such so they are a request not a sure thing

We travel with a slumberpod. Fits right over the pack n play.
I’ve never seen those before. I just looked it up. That’s pretty cool. Our problem with the pack n play for naps is he wakes the instant we lay him down. We ended up having him sleep on the bed when we stayed in the cabin

I was looking at some dates in August/September and see all star movies, pop, the cabins, and AoA all as options. It would be cheaper to stay at the two values with connecting rooms but I feel like Ds will have so much more fun with the pools at AoA. I just have to decide if it’s worth the extra cost.

Right now he won’t swim in the pool. He’s going through this weird phase where he’d rather get in and out of the pool I think because he’s walking. I would hope by August he’s over that. We have a pool at home and can’t get him to swim much longer than 10 minutes anymore but he loves splash pads.

I do like the Epcot area resorts and we’ve used chase points before at the swan and dolphin. I’ll have to keep it open as an option! Do the normal rooms come with a fridge?
he might like what we used to call a wading pool. where he can walk and get in and out unlike a large pool. I am not talking about the plastic ones you empty, the ones I am thinking about are like a regular pool but very shallow and aimed at younger kids

That’s what I was thinking too. That plays a big part in our decision for the resort we choose. We just stayed at the cabins and the splash pad was closed. He wouldn’t swim in the pool at all. So having a splash pad or zero entry pool will be a big deal. I’m hesitant to book pop or the all stars because I’m worried he won’t swim there.

We have one little that naps and a 7 year old. One of us usually takes her to the pool while the other hangs on the balcony or rests in the room. I love this downtime though- nice to rest our feet and breathe for a bit. Neither one of my kids really ever slept in the stroller. At least not well rested sleep. For us, its worth it to be sure she gets those hours of rest.

My kids typically napped in their stroller. A few times my husband took my son back to the hotel for a nap, and he just turned off all the lights and looked at his phone or watched tv while my son napped.

On our first trip, daughter was 9 months and son 2. Tried the first day to go back for naps. We were in a 2 bedroom BLT villa so tried each in a room and me in the living room. Neither slept and ended up calling quits after an hour of sitting in the living room (brought monitors and watched them chill awake in the cribs). After that it was sleep in stroller so didn’t miss out on our extended family vacation for them to be awake in the room. Kids went down right after dinner and grandma /grandpa stayed in our room so DH and I could go get a nice dinner and back to the parks for the evening.

We ended up booking a suite at AoA so we have the separate rooms. He won’t sleep in a stroller and we probably won’t stay in the parks long because it’ll be September and hot

Are you driving? If so, stay in a moderate and pack two camping chairs. Not sure what they are called. You can take the monitor outside with you and set outside the door. Some of the views from the moderates are pretty.
