.............do you guys, who stay in a 1 bedroom, or larger, start the washer/dryer?
This will be our second trip home, first in a 1 bedroom. We wouldn`t want to disturb our neighbors` sleep, I usually do our laundry @ night.
If so, would it be too noisy?!:earseek:
Is there a particular time that might be best?
Last trip, we were in a Studio @ the BCV, & the laundry room (on the 4th floor) was virtually sound proof. Washers were going all night. I just don`t think thats the case inside the villas.

thanks guys,

I have used it both day and night, and never had a complaint, nor have I ever noticed anything from others. About the only thing I notice is the smell of dryer sheets when we are outside! This is at OKW.

thanks disneydiane, we wouldn`t want to be rushing back from anywhere, just to do laundry;)

Have a wonderful vacation!

I think the toilet flushing is noisier than the W/D, with that being said we do the wash during the daylight hours.

OKW also.

At my sister's apartments they aren't supposed to run the dishwasher after 10pm. That would be impossible for me!
I think most people at WDW are out for most of the day and are probably running washers and dryers pretty late. I don't think I'd worry about it. I certainly wouldn't run home early to do laundry while on vacation!!

We usually toss a load in just before we leave for the day and move things along when we get back after dinner. Mousekeeping sometimes moves the laundry along, but don't count on it.

Noise like this drives me nuts and the only washer/dryer noise I've ever heard (at OKW) has been in our own unit.

I ALWAYS do laundry at night, after putting the kids in bed, whether we are at home or on vacation. We did stay in one off sight T/S once that had an extremely loud washer/dryer, but I have never had this problem at DVC. Just got back from OKW and loved the full size w/d, we just closed the laundry room door and snoozed away.....Lacee

We have done wash during the morning and in the late afternoon. IMO, since the washer/dryer is in the center of your unit, I don't think you have to worry too much about disturbing your neighbors. But it is nice that you are concerned.

Hey Guys :wave2: , thanks for all the great info.!!
It seems like everyone has thier own way of dealing with laundry,(none of which I consider a vacation thing to do) lol ! But short of packing a gazillion outfits for everyone, ( and I rather save room for some new things we`ll buy ) " the laundry MUST be done "!

You guys are Great! Thanks again,

The only time I've ever heard a W/D running was when the family below us threw their sneakers in the dryer around 8-9pm.

I was really annoyed until I figured out what it was. We kept hearing muffled banging coming from the room below us. We knew that they had a couple of young children, but the sound went on and on for at least 20 minute before we figured it out.

And, once we figured out the nature of the sound, how can you really be upset? We had a lot of rain that trip and I would probably do the same thing in their position.

You could argue with the time that they were drying the shoes, but when would be a better time? Who gets back to their room before 8pm when you're at Disney World? :)

tjkraz,
How could you NOT hear sneakers!!:earseek:
I think I would have put them on the balcony, in the sun, if possible: But that might not have been an option. I know I`ve done that @ home a couple of times (emergency," need THESE sneakers right away", Ma thing), but normally I don`t like the noise, or the dryer abuse. I think even if you stick a couple of towels in with them, it still sounds bad!!

Thanks,

This is also how we do it.

We generally do our wash at night. We did once have a dryer that was extremely loud.....but we called maintenance and they fixed it.

My DW does the wash at night after we crawl back from the parks. The machines are quiet. I usually can't hear them when watching TV in the same room.
