What time do your kids go to bed??

My DD has never needed a lot of sleep! She's just turned 5 - and started school full-time in September - and we now do 9pm on school days and later at weekends (she's just gone up at 10.15!). This suits us and her. Most evenings my DH and I don't eat until 6.30/7 pm ( having got home at 6pm at the earliest!) so if she went to bed at 7.30 we'd never get to spend any time with her! We read a story (or chapters - we're on Charlie and The Chocolate Factory at the moment) downstairs then when she goes up to bed it's lights off and straight to sleep - she's usually gone within ten minutes at the most!

I'd be interested to know what time the kids who go to bed at 6.30/7pm get up in the mornings? On school days DD gets up (of her own accord 99% of the time) between 7.30 and 8 am. At weekends it's normally 8.30 at the earliest - she's been knwon to sleep in until 9.30 am! This too suits us as we're NOT morning people - in fact my DH was really worried when we found out I was pregnant as he is very much a night person and was scared we'd have a child who wanted to get up at 6 am every day!!!!!

Each to their own but we're all happy how things are! :flower:

My lot are up between 6.30 - 7.00 am school days and weekends.
Long lie ins are a thing of teenage years, seems so long ago  . Have to give credit to DD (8) who organises toast and fresh fruit juice in the mornings for her brother and sister so we can lie in till 8.30am at the weekend :)

hi

dd 7 goes to bed 7.30-8 and to sleep at that time. she usually get up at 7.30. dd 10 goes to bed closer to 8 but reads till half past and she gets up about 8am. dd10 is going to senior school this year so i will probly up her bedtime to 8.30 with half an hour reading.

saturdays they sometimes go to bed at 9. if i see they are tired they go earlier.

can i ask how many people let their children have t.v's in their rooms and how many are allowed to watch at bedtime and how old did you think it was suitable for them?

cheers

I am a bit weird about TVs in the bedroom. I definitely would not consider it for my DDs at their age. To be honest, when they go to bed I am happy as anything for them to read but not to watch TV. Maybe I will re-consider as they get older? We do have a TV in our bedroom but I can't remember the last time I watched it.

My DDs get up at somewhere between 7..00 and 7.30 on school days and a bit later at weekends.

All rooms have TVs but I'm with Karen on reading at bed-time. Videos and tv are more likely to lead to increased stimulus.
TVs are handy in our house when I want to watch football :rolleyes1

One daughter who is 13 goes to bed anytime between 8 -9pm which she constantly moans about but she has to be up for school at 6:30 as she has to be in school by 8am which she finds difficult but on the weekends and school holidays she goes to bed a lot later.

Our boys are 3 & 4 (5 in a month). Bath at 6.30, story at 7.00pm then they both have a cuddle with DW & myself for about 5-10 minutes then to sleep by 7.30. Weekends everything is delayed an hour ish as they can have a lie in, so can mum & dad!

We always find it really difficult to get them to stay a sleep when we return from Florida. They go to bed as normal, but wake about 10 it then takes another half hour for them to get back to sleep.

I wouldnt worry to much S M.

As long as DD (7) gets a good 9 hours sleep she's raring to go :flower:
As she doesn't need to get up until 7.30 for school this invariably means she's not usually in bed before 10 when we go up and read a chapter of whichever book she's got from the library and then she's spark out :goodvibes
At weekends she'll maybe sleep in until 8, if I'm lucky
We've tried an earlier bed time but she's so unsettled that it results in her getting to sleep even later!
I know it wouldn't suit most parents but it suits us

DS(5) goes to bed between 7.30 and 8.30 - if he's tired he will ask to go to bed by 7.30, toherwise DH and I can usually eat in peace and take him up about 8-8.30. Sometimes he has a bedtime story, other times he watches something peaceful (downstairs) - always asks for a bedtime song (usually morningtown ride or Mumma's going to buy).

DS 12 goes when he's ready - any time from 8.30 to 10.00 - but he has to do his homework. Scouts makes him late on Monday, and Friday he and DH have "film night" while I'm at tap. Sometimes reads in bed.

I like to be in bed by 10.00! If he's still up I say "empty the dishwasher/ put the washing in etc." and he usually goes straight up :rotfl:

Seem like your DD and mine are from the same mold!!! I agree with the attempts at earlier bedtimes - with all the 'I need a wee' and 'My bedclothes are rumpled' and 'I need a drink' etc etc I';d rather she stayed downstairs longer and went straight to sleep when she does go up!

As you say, it suits us!!!! :flower:

Have to say on holiday they go when they are tired - unfortunately they got tired too early for us to see wishes or Spectro  :sad2:

mine go to bed to bl**dy late! but they are 21, 19 and 14! i am usually in bed before the eldest two... showing my age now :rotfl:

My DW & I only get home from work after 6pm, so once we've all had dinner together, it's gone 7pm, so we let our DD (7) and DS (3) stay up till 8.30 so we can have some time together. My DS is usually straight to sleep but my DH can stay awake past 10 and they're up at 7.30 next morning.

HOWEVER when they stay at Grandma's, all bets are off. DS is in bed for 9.30 and DD around 11 - 11.30. whaddayagonnado????

:rotfl:

My DS(4 - nearer 5) we put him to bed at 8pm after having his bath and reading a story, but very rarely he's asleep before 9pm, DS12 goes to bed at 9.30pm and is asleep usually within 5 minutes - should be fun at the end of the month when the clocks go back an hour :rotfl2:
